  • Do what parents instill in their children matter at any point?

A friend and I had a heated discussion. We agreed on eventually individuals will do what they want to do. However, she believes that parents are supposed to "talk" to their kids because that's their job and that kids will grow up to do whatever they want to do. I told her she was looking at the cup half empty. I said that some parents do have influences in their kids life and the decisions that they make. They may not think about what we said to them all the time, but what we say does matter to me. I even gave her an example of God being in our lives and us making decisions based off what he whats for us. We may fall but he still loves us. I can't seem to somehow get through to her about this topic. What can I say to make it easier for her to understand or am I "delusional" as she thinks?

  • how to stop worrying about potential job offer?

I had my first interview with HR...went okay......they called for a second interview a week later with regional Sales manager.....went great....the next morning HR called me and asked me to take a drug screen the same day....no job offer was given....but i did go take the drug screen. I personally know that the same morning they had a third party do a job verification with my current employer. The position is for a bank. I am, have been, and can't stop worrying about the job i want really bad. I am just worried about the credit check. They didn't say specifically that a credit check would be done....only that a background check, fingerprint, and drug screen would be done. pls give me ur input.

  • PREEMPLOYMENT CREDIT CHECK FOR SOME POSITIONS?

a bank i applied to said that it would conduct credit checks for some positions? Could this mean that all positions in a branch would be subjected to pre employment credit check versus... let's say... the banks call center?

  • Job no longer posted?

I had my first interview a week ago. I got called for a second interview this past Friday. However, when I look to see what other job openings this bank has....this particular position is no longer posted. Does this mean that they have closed the job and found someone? If so, I would be wasting my time going to this interview.

  • Is it right for the city police to say we can't park our truck in our own yard?

We have lived in our neigborhood for almost two years. It is a predominately white residential area (we are african-americans). My spouse has been driving locally for almost a whole year so he almost makes it home every night. He has been unhooking his 18 wheeler at the local Wal-Mart and bobtails his truck home and parks on the side of the road. Well tonight the police comes and gives him a ticket (sort of understandable). He then asked the police officer could he just park his truck in the back yard (its pretty big). The police officer said no and shrugged off that question by saying he guesses he has to walk home every night (thank goodness i'm peaceful). Well my compalint is that there was about two other white men in the same neighborhood who hauled logs and would bob tail their truck home EVERY DAY on their front yard WITH NO COMPLAINTS. Their families moved to another home however. What should we do about getting him the ability to his truck on our own property?

  • black women question only ???

I haven't been out in a few months, so I decided to go out last night (4th of July party at a local club). Last night reminded me of why I'd rather not go out anymore. Is it just my town or everywhere, when you go out, women of our color have such nasty attitudes and they don't even know you. Why are we attached to such stereotypes and stick with it? To me, I'm one of the nicest women you can meet. I'm the type to walk in with a smile and speak. But as soon as you do that, the majority of women have such nasty looking faces. It's just horrible. I don't carry drama because I don't really associate with anyone. Why can't we appreciate other women of our race and recognize them as strong and beautiful? I don't get it.

  • What to serve with Sandwiches at a party?

We're planning a birthday party. We're grilling hotdogs for the kids. I have decided to have catered sandwiches (ham & turkey) for the adults. I want to also serve meatballs, but that's all I can think of. Beside cookies, chips & dips what else should I serve?

  • I need a birthday cake...which one Publix or SuperWal-Mart?

I've never had a cake made by Publix. We've always gone to Super Wal-Mart which I think their cakes are really good. But I've seen some people say Publix is really good. Have you had both and which one would you recommend?

  • I'm giving him an ultimatium?

My boyfriend and I have been together off and on for 8 years (mostly on)...we have children together. He's been driving trucks for 6 months now. I don't like the company and the man who he works for. He leaves on Sundays in the afternoon and comes home LATE on Friday nights. When he is here, he spends a little time playing and spending time with us but mostly sleeps. I'm thinking of telling him it's either his job or his family. I don't mind him driving trucks as long he is home every night. My point is he's still young (28) with young children who needs him and a woman home who needs him. He is also a mama's boy and takes care of his mother (which is able to take care of herself). Do I make a valid point to go on with the ultimatium?

  • new job...have to miss a day already...what to do???

I just accepted a job offer. I start on June 25th, but I just got a child support case letter notifying me about my court date for child support on July 11th. I've been waiting on that FOREVER!!!! What should I do? I'm afraid to even ask for a few hours off because I'll still be in the probationary period (90 days).

  • things to do for kids age 4 and 3 in atlanta?

I am trying to decide a city to take a another vacation in this summer. We've already done Destin, Florida which was great and beautiful. I'm am considering Atlanta, but it doesn't seem real kid friendly. I know taking in a Braves game and the Children's Museum of Atlanta (Imagine It!) would be some good options but other than that, they would get bored if we were to go to the CNN, World of Coke, or the Botanical Gardens. I have read reviews of the Zoo which they said was like any ordinary zoo (small) and the aquarium which they said was to expensive and crowded for what you see.

  • what do you think of Georgia laws and Genarlow Wilson ?

thank goodness georgia has closed that law down where if you are teenagers and have oral sex (even consensualy) that it is considered aggravated child molestation!!! that is crazy!!!!! it's good that the judge freed him from serving some more years but that atty general needs help!!!! i understand if the guy is 22 and the girl is 15 BUT when you have 2 teenagers who have sex.....even though it isn't right (pre-marital sex) that's doesn't make it a CRIME!!! What are your thoughts?

However, I sent her a thank you email Thursday and she immediately responded saying thanking me and that she was going to forward the email to 2 more hiring managers as "well as suggest for the supervisor job" (her words exactly)....I need someone to speculate on this...and how long should I wait to call her....should I call her tomorrow since she said Friday or wait for her call to me????
