  • I can't remember the name of a new song/ artist?

I saw a music video for a new artist- a young black pop singer. She was wearing a tuxedo-like outfit, had mohawked hair, and was dancing around what I think was an asylum for video. The song was pop/ dance music with an original beat. I've since heard the song on the radio, so I think it must be somewhat popular, but I can't find it!

    Help?

  • Help! Looking for a music video, but can't remember the artist?

I remember seeing a music video a few times on tv, maybe a year or so ago, that I would like to see again, but I can't remember the artist or the name of the song.

It was a young female singer, and the video starts with the artist at a record shop, asking for music that is a combination of all these different genres. I think she is wearing a orange or red dress. The rest of music video has her singing as she walks around a city, but as she sees happy things, the camera pans out and we see the ugly side of things, like used hypodermic needles and angry old women. The song was very up-beat, and the singer may have been British.

    Help!

I will probably need to find a new service plan soon, and I am looking for input.

What do you pay, from what provider, and do you like what you get?

  • What do you think about the trend of giving children unique or oddly-spelled names?

There is a trend among new parents to give their children unique or different names, which will eventually lead to a generation of adults who have very different names than do the previous generation.

So, my question is, does that matter?

Would you judge an Ayshlee any different than an Ashley?

    A Jareet'sha any different than a Jane?

If you had to hire an applicant, would their names make you assume things about them?

Do you think an oddly spelled name will make life more difficult for the child, or will they value the uniqueness?

Also, I asked this question twice before in other sections to garner a fuller response, and a few people seemed rather proud of the uncommon names they have, gave, or intend to give their children. Thus far, the names people have posted include:

    Poppy

    Vesper

    Jaxon

    Landen

    Gage

    Diesel

    JaeLyn

    Saphyre

What do you think of these? Strange or pretty? Unique or trashy?

  • Which socio-economic class do you belong to, and why?

Just a general question- how would you classify yourself?

Working Class, Upper Middle Class, etc. ?

Is it because of the money you make, your education, job, house, car, lifestyle?

    1 AnswerPolls & Surveys1 decade ago
  • Which socio-economic class do you belong to, and why? What makes a person from a certain class?

Just as a general survey, which 'class" do you belong to, and why? Is the defining factor money, how you live, level of education or job type?

Ex. I am: Working class, Lower Class, Middle Class, Upper Middle Class, Upper Class, etc. because I: earn this much, have this degree, live in this kind of house, drive this car, work this kind of job, etc.

Feel free to define the classes as how you see them, I would love to see how you would define "middle class" or "working class" considering the current debates over taxes and social responsibility within a class system.

Note: If you feel that you live in a classless society, feel free to define yourself as such, but please, explain why.

  • Does your religion/ belief system make you out to be important or insignificant? Which is better?

    Simple question...

Does what you believe confirm a well deserved sense of importance and significance, or does it make you unimportant, inconsequential, and insignificant?

What about your beliefs make the above true, and is this the best way to live?

Is it ridiculous, egotistical, narcissistic, fatalist, pessimistic, etc. to believe what you do or what others do? Why?

  • If abortion is murder, how should women who get illegal abortions be punished?

Should Roe vs. Wade be overturned, and abortion made illegal, in all cases, how should a woman be punished should she get an illegal abortion?

What about the person who performs the illegal abortion?

The father of the child, should it be proven that he knew about the intended illegal abortion, or helped the woman obtain one?

For the above three, is jail time the appropriate punishment? Required counseling, community service, probation, fines?

If jail, how long? (the average time served for the murder of another person is currently around seven years in the U.S., for reference)

    If fines, how much?

    Why?

What about pregnant rape victims who get illegal abortions? Or the mother who aborts the child with a birth defect? Should the punishment be the same, different?

Note to all: I am not necessarily pro-life, or pro-choice. I haven't expressed any opinions in this question, so please answer without bashing my personal beliefs, with I have yet to reveal in this question. Thanks

  • Nothing in between state schools and high cost private schools?

I live in Ohio, and while researching colleges I have come to the disturbing realization that, although I would probably be accepted to many of the private universities I have researched and liked, I would not qualify for any need-based aid.

My family is wealthy enough so that I won't have to take out student loans, but my parents do not wish to pay $40-$50 thousand a year when my other options include applying to the Ohio State honors program for a significantly reduced cost. I want very much to go to a highly competitive private college out of state, but without any aid package I don't really see this happening.

Is there any alternative I am missing? It seems like the lower-cost private schools aren't very competitive, and have lower-quality programs and fewer majors available. The other public colleges and universities are the same, attracting people with 3.2 GPAs rather than my 3.9.

Help? Where can I go for college that is in between Dartmouth and Ohio State?

  • Is there anything you wouldn't do for money, short of harming yourself or another person?

    Anything?

    Prostitution?

    Giving up a spouse/ child?

    Marrying someone you hated?

Eat something still alive? Like a cockroach?

Anything else? The amount of money offered for the unspecified act would be unlimited.

  • Do any of you sincerely believe all people are created equal?

That one particular life is not somehow worth more than another particular life?

How does that view, if you hold it, contrast with the welfare system, with affirmative action, with racism and sexism and ageism?

Are people with mental or physical deficiencies worth the same as people without them? Why?

(and don't give me any of that "its not disabled, its differently-abled," as I really don't appreciate that kind of PC)

What combination of things make someone superior or inferior? Is there anything?

Whose life is worth more than yours? Less?

  • Should society better respect higher-IQ people, if only on the basis of their intelligence?

If so, should the lower IQ (if you feel the IQ tests do not accurately score a person's intelligence, you may replace any mention of IQ in this question with any other rating system on the basis of intelligence) people accept the superiority of the higher IQ people, and allow them to form a "ruling class"? Should we trust our decisions not to the masses of the uneducated and ill informed, but to the high IQ people, those with an education and the capacity to properly understand it?

    Also, as optional questions:

Does having a high IQ make one worthy of the money and the power that can be profited from intelligence?

Would you consider yourself to be among the higher IQ, better educated people, and would you expect some say were these select people to make up our "ruling class"?

  • A career in between being a doctor and a nurse?

I am currently looking into colleges, and deciding what kind of career I might want, and thus which major/ degree to pursue. I do not think I could handle the stress and time required to become a doctor or surgeon, but I do not think I want to settle for being a nurse (no offense meant to nurses, I just figure that I want more money, more respect, and less having to do the dirty work in a hospital for 16 hour shifts). I have so far looked into speech pathology, the different kinds of nursing, and pharmacy, but what else is there in the medical career that would have the pay and prestige in between that of a doctor's and that of a nurse's? I am fine with having to obtain a master’s degree, but I don’t think a PhD is in my cards unless there is a very good reason for it. I suppose I am looking for people in the medical field to recommend careers and majors that they know to be a good investment. For general information, I am better in biology than chemistry, and even better in english, I have a high GPA and test scores, and the cost of my education is of minimal importance. I have no problem dealing with death, but I don’t really like having to deal with children or the mentally impaired. Thanks!

  • Did anyone here make the choice as an adult to switch beliefs? Why?

I've always wondered what pushes someone to choose a radically different faith or choose atheism/ agnosticism when they were firm believers in something else as a child or when younger?

Is it a maturity thing, a rebellion from mom and dad, or something struggled with throughout and entire life, and then admitted in adulthood? Your thoughts?

  • A quick survey?

I was hoping I could beg a few of you to answer a general survey pertaining to this section of Answers.

Yes or no answers are fine for questions 2-6, but I would prefer you elaborate.

    1. In the simplest terms possible, what do you believe?

    2. Do you consider yourself to be more moral than the average person?

    3. Do you consider yourself to be more intelligent than the average person?

    4. Are you ever racist, sexist, ageist, and otherwise prejudiced, even unintentionally?

    5. Is it fair to mock or give an angry reply to someone on this board if they insult your beliefs or otherwise bother you?

    6. Are you superior in any way to people who believe something other than what you personally deem the undeniable truth?

    Thanks!

  • Does Europe have a major problem with Muslim immigrants refusing to assimilate?

Should something be done? What? Should traditional Islamic laws and teachings be respected and left alone, or should assimilation be required to some extent, or perhaps just better encouraged? Why?

  • Why do devout Christians not give up lives of opulence and live in poverty, as to better serve god and others?

Are Christ's teachings not considered anymore? Have so many Christians really not considered how much their money, spent wastefully, could help the lives of poorer peoples, starving children at the very least?

Why are Christ's teachings to give to the poor and to be of service to society ignored so often by today's Christians?

Why is there no outrage when a congregation spends millions on building a decadent church, and ignores the starvation in poor countries?

I really cannot comprehend when today's Christians spend more resources fighting stem-cell research, gay marriage, and abortion, than they do relieving poverty. Why is this acceptable?
