  • I am considering a home purchase in the Florida Gulf area/Chinese drwall?

Does anyone know what local contractors charge to install new drywall (per sf)? It is likely we will remove cabinets, trim and old wall board ourselves but am interested in a contractor doing the demo work too. I don't want to exclude potential homes if they are super inexpensive and need drywall replaced at a reasonable price. This will be a second home.

    Thanks

  • Are employers required to give commission sales people written commission statements in Maryland?

I work in Maryland as a salary and commission sales rep/account manager. My employer refuses to give any commission statements. I/we are supposed to "Trust" that he is paying me/us properly. Do I have a legal right to a commission statement. If not, I will certainly find another position with a more scrupulous employer that will do so. But does the law require him to do so??? In Maryland.

  • Can my crappy employer make his sales reps move his offices and warehouse?

Can my employer require me to help move his offices?

I am an account manager/outside sales person. My job duties require me to manage accounts mainly on the road. I do have a desk at my employers offices and am not permitted to work from home. I am compensated by salary and commission.

Our company is moving it's location and my employer has required all employees (except one, that I know of) to work through the weekend and help move the offices/warehouse (He is too cheap to hire professional movers. So, he expects us to move it all.) He will not pay any additional and will not give comp time. We will work our regular hours M-F then sat & sun Then M-F again 12 days straight. Yeah, it sucks!

Can he require to work/move the offices and warehouse?

Can he require us to do heavy lifting?

If I (or anyone else) is injured, is it covered under worker comp?

I know he is a crappy employer, but that is not unlawful.

    Thanks for your help.

  • What is the difference between a commission and a bonus?

I am a sales person that is paid a base salary (every other week) and a commission (monthly). For the last several years my check stub has either said "regular" or "commission". My last commission check said "bonus". I am not comfortable with this change and need to understand it's reprcussions in more detail. I get that a commission is an agreement between employee and and employer (in advance) of compensation, and is owed. Is it true that a bonus is different as it is at the employers discrestion/whim?

How does this play out in tax obligations? Do they differ?

I am concerned that my employer is trying to be "slick". He has recently mentioned that the accounts that I have sold and manage, he may make "house accounts" after say 9 months and no longer pay commission. Does this sound like his first step???

  • Factory default temperature for Breadman Ultimate?

I seem to have inadvertently saved a custom recipe as the white bread setting on my bread machine (Breadman Ultimate) This recipe uses a bake temp of 275°F. I have searched the Instruction Manual for the original temperature setting and it is NOT listed. Does anyone know what the factory baking temperature setting is on the white bread (1.5pound) for the Breadman Ultimate. I need to resave the original program.
