What does this dream mean?
I was in my grandparents house and outside they were filming Harry Potter and decided to give me a major role in it (a random made up one like in one of those horrible fanfics i fear since I don't remember being cast as an actual character, though were i cast as one, i would probably be Nevil). Anyway halfway through Emma Watson joins me at my grandmothers house and we just sit their talking, and about halfway through the conversation I text my friend to brag about having Emma Watson with me. I then wake up.
could this mean anything, or do i just watch tv/read too much/have too much free time?
6 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade agoAre these marriages legal?
I have five marriage situations that I am curious about.
1) Two siblings by adoption marry, example Bob is the biological son of Mark and Clara. Mark and Clara adopted Katherine from Russia. Can Bob and Katherine marry if they want to?
2) Two siblings by marriage, example Mark divorces Clara and Marries Elizabeth who has a daughter, Sarah. Can Bob and Sarah marry if they want to?
3) Marrying your cousin, Bob decides he doesn't want to marry Sarah or Katherine but would like to marry his cousin Tina. Can they marry if they want to?
4) Marrying a step cousin, Bob decides he would rather marry Maddie, his cousin Tina's step-sister. Can they marry if they want to?
5)Gay marriage. Bob realizes he can't pick any of these girls because he is gay and actually loves Rick who is also gay. If Bob and Rick want to can they marry.
Other information, Bob lives in New York.
As far as I understand, New York does not allow gay marriage, but does recognize gay marriages, does that mean Bob can go to say Connecticut where same-sex marriage is allowed, elope, and then return to New York, or must they take residency in Connecticut for a certain time period before they are allowed a marriage license from that state?
Also, in terms of the first four situations, if the marriage is legal in New York, should Bob and his wife in any of those situations move, would their marriage be found void in any other state. (I was able to find this info for same-sex easily, but cannot seem to find as much for the first four, since they seem to be while, unorthodox, not nearly as political as same-sex marriage),
,,,this must seem really random/creepy, but I am curious. My mom is always jokingly talking about how good looking my step cousin is and how my sister should marry him, and questions about the others of the first four just popped up out of wondering if what my mom suggested was legal.

When I was younger I had this recurring progressive dream at the end of the school year. i would be climbing some great mountain and everytime I'd make it a little further.
first time i get to eh foothills and a rock slide kills me, then i get further and its an avalanche, then I'm so high its the wind blowing me off the mountain. then I'm going down the other side and the path is narrower. I slip and fall on my own. Last time I follow the narrow pass and there's a bridge over a rushing river/waterfall. Then the river/fall floods and takes out the bridge with me halfway through.
What does this dream mean?... and why does answer's automatic category chooser always pick education word play for my dream questions?

I look at my hand and see a zit. I pop it and squeeze the white gunk out, but it keeps coming and then i try pulling it and it turns into a tape worm, and then I blink and not only am i pulling a tape worm out of my hand, but the other end is twining through my flesh all over my hand like a giant maggot
1 AnswerDream Interpretation1 decade agowhat does this dream mean?
I dreamt the other night that I was kidnapped by pirates. they set me to plying up floorboards in this massive room. when i did there was water under the boards, and if i turned away the floorboards were suddenly back in place. one time i plied boards up and there was a treasure chest, but the pirate captain said it was the wrong chest. I thought I almost found the right one, but then the sun came up and I woke up.

3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agowhat does my dream mean?
Okay so I've had three dreams kind of related.
In the first I'm at an almost deserted hotel for Christmas, there are a few other people there most teens, anyway i meet these two kids (twins boy and girl), and become like their baby sitter. they keep begging me to help them make little laurel wreathes, and decorations. then they have me put a wreath on this cherry red candle, and suddenly there is a real bright light and they start laughing at me like I'm an idiot saying I've helped them release this demon thing. I wake up.
Dream two came a few weeks later.
I'm in a garage with the children, they have me organizing shoes and picture frames on shelves in this garage (or maybe it was a shack, either way inside was really pristine and white). Then when I'm done, instead of laughing and demon coming we're attacked and the boy twin is kidnapped. I run outside and its like this windswept rocky river bank. there's lots of rain. I dive in the river, and surface in a cave, i do some fighting and save the kid, then dive back in the river, and something gets me by the ankle and pulls me down. i fight to make the surface, I wouldn't make it but hands from above pull me up, and then there are angels, with gray wings. I wake up.
The last dream is a bit less related, but I thought the wreaths and shoe/picture frame were weird repetitive, yet somehow mystical. here its just a boy, not the male twin though. he has me and 3 others join him in a circle, and as we dance a giant storm starts. I realize something is wrong and break the circle the boy turns into this wrinkly demon baby. and I ask where'd whoever the guy was before went. the baby thing laughs says his name is nargf and attacks me clawing at my heart

Okay so here's what happened in my dream.
I'm riding on an air plane and these three girls start talking about destiny, suddenly there's turbulence and we crash into the ocean. I see this weird spectral/phosphorous glow as the plane hits the sea floor, an a like 'spiritual' version of the plane continues onward. then I'm in like the underworld airport security and these 4 ninjas sneak me through so the demon's don't get me. they lead me to Satan's evil workshop. Satan is this really fat bulbous ugly thing, with an annoying falsetto. i through a pipe into his fat, and he dies/evaporates. then the last scene of my dream is back above on this lone tower in the middle of the ocean, there's this dude doing meditation and then i hear Satan's falsetto laughter as vapors rise out of the ocean
1 AnswerDream Interpretation1 decade agoWho knows some good christian music?
Looking for christian music, most christian music I usually hear are hymns on Sunday, and most of them really don't work for me, they're too, its hard to describe,I don't know, slow maybe,or rather maybe its repetitive/ similar. even more modern songs don't work that much for me. Like How He Loves Us, Everlasting God, Days of Elijah (these are closer to what I'm looking for, but they are more like modern hymns to me, than what I'm really looking for).
I can give a few examples of songs I love to help out answers. Celtic Women's rendition of Carol of the Bells. Flyleaf's All Around Me. Martina McBride's Concrete Angel, Within Temptation's Angels, Evanescence's Bring me to Life, the Band Perry's If I Die Young
Really into symphonic rock and country right now (seems like an odd combination, but that's what I like).
If anyone knows of other songs/bands like that, I'd like to hear about them.
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI took history class, what atrocities are purely religious?
I keep seeing arguments that religions are bad because of the wars and violence they cause, but I've flipped through many history books... not many seem to be purely religious, which would be necessary for it to be the religion's fault. Most seem economic or based on the society at the time and men wanting to hold power.

31 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs there a proper way to pray?
Usually I just fold my hands together wherever I am, Does it matter at all where of how. I mean, God is omnipotent, so he knows when we mean it however we do it.
Question intended for fellow Christians, though I am still interested in how people of other faiths pray.
I know followers of Islam are supposed to face Mecca, is there anything else in that?
What about other religions?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat is better for my flowers?
Regular water or sparkling (carbonated) water. My neighbor died and left me his Perrier water, some fancy brand imported from France. I can't say I like the taste, and I'll probably just give it away, but I was wondering, do you think it would have any affect on how my plants grow if i used it for watering them for the next few days, or if i had more for the next few weeks/months?
Sorry if this is more of a lawn and gardening questions, but it reminds me of those old science experiments where kids see if there's a difference between playing music, what kind of light sweetened or regular water and those kinds of effects on plants.

4 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoWhat is the opinion on religion and atheism? Can people of both sides work together?
I have been going around looking at questions here on answers and many of the questions here seem quite frightening that there are such extreme ideas (not just with religion, but races and other touchy topics, but for now let us discuss religion).
I have friends in several religions and outside religion, both believing in higher power, or no power at all. I am personally a United Methodist and admit that some parts of the Bible are probably to definitely false. However, I also believe that the normal Christian reads the Bible and extracts fundamental ideas. Mainly ideas such as Love you neighbor as yourself, which unless you have serious self-hatred issues brought on by current media or past historic events (how you were raised, who your friends are, actually major events in history, etc.) means most Christians are rather docile and friendly.
From what I know of most other religions from friends, all others are similar and have generally equal beliefs. Examples being the rule of three in Wicca promoting people to do good because whatever they do will come back threefold in force be it good or bad. Muslims believe in peace "If they seek peace, then seek you peace. And trust in God for He is the One that heareth and knoweth all things.” Quran 8:61. Buddhists and Hindus tend also to be non-violent. My favorite in non-violence though are the Jainists who would avoid hurting others at all cost, the kind of people who mask themselves so they don’t breath in bugs.
People believe in these faiths for the promises in the next life, or in the case of Buddhism in the escape of life, becoming Buddha meaning an escape from the cycle of reincarnation into nirvana.
Most also believe that their faith is shown in the current life by the good deeds they do in promoting their religion, peace, and general betterment of human kind, sticking strictly to non-violence.
Most Atheists I know seem to believe this is their one life and they need to make it count. Not many of them plan to use it for horrible violence.
So here is the question. Why the hate? All these people want peace. There is ignorance on both sides I do not deny that. On the side of religious people like me because we tend to ignore scientific evidence, and on the atheist side for thinking science can prove away religion, when the basis of religion is having belief in something intangible the intangibility of it making it beyond the scope of science.
Yet if you are comfortable in what you believe in, why are there such arguments as I have seen here. I see it elsewhere, but it is toned down, here it is raging like children fighting over a new toy. There are better ways to spread your beliefs, and there is room for compromise despite what some people seem to think. We only have one life to give on this Earth whatever we believe, can we work together, it would certainly be more productive than trying to tear each other down, which is what I've seen for the most part here.
Maybe I haven't been here long enough to see logical debates and friendliness between people, but it seems like we should be able to handle ourselves better.
Can we work together ignore our differences and end this?
I have presented my thoughts. Please respond, as you feel fit.
