I grew up in the Pentecostal church and have spoken in tongues, slain in the spirit and even nearly unconscious from intense prayer sessions at the alter.

I have since grown up and as an adult reconciled that the way I was raised is no different than many other religions, as these experiences occur all over the spectrum of belief systems. They used to be my primary reason for believing, but were not unique at all when compared to other belief systems. I also realized the evolution of belief systems themselves were all very suspect, especially mine. I am so grateful I was able to get out and have experienced such a weight off my shoulders and profound happiness like never before since doing so.

But my question is what was actually happening during those intense prayer sessions that made me shake uncontrollably; that made me lie on the floor uttering gibberish; that made me feel the "butterflies in my stomach" take over my body? When it happened, it felt pretty darn real. What is happening? Is it just the pure emotion of the situation? Because of these questions, I was able to rationalize delusional beliefs for years even when I felt at my core they never added up.

I purchased a projecter that claims it has 75 LED lumens. I am considering another projector that has 3000 White Lumens. Clearly the new projector will not be 40 times brighter, how can I get a reasonable comparison of brightness?

Even when long periods of time pass between ejaculation, I do not enjoy any stimulation until fully erect. My libido is still very strong and I have no problem becoming erect or having an orgasm, the problem is that it is very difficult to begin having sex when there is no enjoyment from being touched until I am well into the act. The BASE in caps needs to be changeable by a drop down on every page (that also appears on every page). The user can change the drop down and the BASE in caps above will change to the value they selected. In the end I would expect the BASE would be some variable that the drop down updates like this:

The only solutions I can find are changing each View. That's not possible in my case. I need to be able to dynamically change the Layout HTML similar to how you would do it in the code-behind of a Master file in standard ASP.net.

Over the last few years, I noticed my scrotum skin begins to itch upon being scratched, but then that scratching relieves the itch. It feels like a state of constant relief. The scratch always causes an itch, fixes it, but leaves another itch upon release. Overall, it is very enjoyable and recently I have begun pulling it tight and using a plastic knife to scratch it and I have experienced extreme non-sexual pleasure and full itch-relief as a result.

My company is using the QuickBooks automatic check distribution program. My paychecks have too many numbers in the amount and as a result is getting cut off. Payroll has told me that only 9 digits can fit into the amount box. The typed out amount is also getting cut off half-way through the word million ("...billion 227 milli"). Is there any way to allow more digits or a smaller font?

I'm 28 and I've found great success and am very fortunate but the other four friends I grew up with have all been living paycheck to paycheck eeking through life as they put it. They get very offended by me trying to make hanging out "funner" by paying for things. They also don't want to interact with my children or visit my house because they feel its me showing off. I've done a lot to avoid talking about or even imply my success, but I think I'm still losing my friends.

We all fell off the face of the world together, we all slowly pulled ourselves out of it, but I'm the only one that fully recovered and more. It is very evident when I see them interacting without me that they remain close and I'm becoming the outsider. I'd just replace my friends, but I don't relate to any of these business-types; I'm still rough around the edges.

I don't understand it, I think its a pretty great place myself and am sick of hearing people complain about "immorality" and "corruption" instead of noticing all the great stuff out there. Can someone connect the dots for me, I'm afraid I'm going to end up being happy.

I only mean single player. I've never played multiplayer anything in my life. I've purchased and played through each COD game in the last month and a half. Now I'm out of those, so I bought BC2 and the controls seem so much less fluid than the COD games. Is this just because I've played COD so much recently, or is COD considered to have better controls? It seems the camera acceleration is dreadful on BC2. Also, the camera sensitivity jumps from slow to hypersensitive halfway up the bar. Does this get easier over time? What about BF3?

I am a type-1 diabetic with a 6.6 A1C. I eat way more sugar than the doctor's tell me to, but I also take way more insulin to make up for it. If my A1C stays in range and I'm not getting overweight, are there any problems with doing this? I've been doing this for years and haven't gained a pound. I also always have an emergency shot nearby if I go too low, but I've never needed it.

I've become successful enough to buy all the stuff I've ever wanted - a nice house, cars, electronics, furnishings, appliances, clothes, jewelry, etc. There is not one thing left for me to buy that I actually want. I'm left feeling empty inside because as an American, I must buy stuff to be happy. I know it sounds like a joke, but I'm dead serious here. Anything good you can think of?

They really seem to be playing up the talent dropping like flies this year, I don't think its real.

It seems every commercial I see has a Black, Hispanic, Asian or Middle Eastern family dressed up like white people... and by white people I mean like Zack Morris. Then, they put them in suburban houses without any of their cultural identity. No rap music, large families, short tables, 5 foot carpets, ethnic items or anything. I assume this is to trick us and the ACLU to thinking their are welcoming of all races. Why don't they just be real instead of embarrassing other cultures by making them look like us pathetic white people?

I have a co-worker from India that claims he lives with 15 other guys in an apartment with two huge bedrooms (in the US). They all share one shower, one kitchen and one living room. The bedrooms are filled wall-to-wall with air mattresses against each other. He says this is extremely commonplace in India and that's how they live when they are single. He even says they masturbate to internet porn in front of each other (while others give them privacy by ignoring it). Is he just pulling my leg or is this for real?

Every generation becomes more intelligent and aware than the previous; as such, every generation in some way improves upon the previous. There are so many things that have been phased out as a result of new generations seeing the flaws of previous generations (slavery, totalitarianism, womens' rights, gay marriage, etc).

Soon enough science will get to a point where the youth will realize how ridiculous the unmoveable blind faith of their parent generations has become and begin to refuse it. Right now, some religions, like Judaism, consider science before interpreting doctrine but you will not be able to fit religious explanation into science fact forever. I expect this will eventually lead to the end of most theistic religions.

Even in the case religious doctrine is true, this would likely still happen. How long do you think it would take? Do you think I'm crazy?

I've become relatively successful as a web application developer for several years now. However, I'm absolutely disgusted by the very things that make me successful, and I was hoping for some help.

I work for a profit-oriented company (like any) and I am a very profitable employee. I always do exactly what the customer wants and I get it done quick. I've been doing this a while and have learned quite a bit. Because of this, I will often write things from the ground up even though there's probably a much better solution out there. I do it like this just because it gets done faster my way. The bosses love that I get it done quick because it gets the product out fast and its exactly as the customer wants it (mainly cause I can control any part of it cause I'm not using 3rd party tools like jQuery or the AjaxToolkit).

My programs are obviously more buggy than most as a result and every other programmer has a hell of a time working on my software. I'm disgusted at myself. Even if I was alotted time to develop at a much slower, more organized pace, I can't do it. I've grown too accustomed at this quick pace. I hate developers like myself and was wondering how any others go about avoiding organizational and long term issues like these. My co-workers long ago started coming to me with help on how to develop certain things and my poison is spreading quickly to them.

Let's say I have 10 ping pong balls in a bucket all of different color. If I pick one once, the chance that the ball is red is 1 in 10. If I repeat this 10 times (putting the picked ball back in each time), you would think that probability of me getting the red ball at least once is 100% since I'm doing something with a 1/10th of a chance 10 times. Obviously, its not as I could pick yellow 10 times. So I how do I compute the actual probability that I'll get at least one red ball?

I wrote a computer program to do this and the probability comes out to about 65%, roughly 2/3rds. But I have no idea how to reach that value.
