  • Do Any Species Other Than Humans Have Pets?

I don't mean where a species directly has a practical use for a host eg the birds on prairie animals or small fish on shark, but do any other species "keep" another purely for pleasure?

  • How Can I Convince My Cockatiels To Eat More Healthily?!?

We inherited a pair of cockatiels from someone who couldn't keep them anymore. When we first got them, I did a fair amount of research on the web to try to ensure I would be able to look after them properly. One of the things I found was that they should only really be eating about 50% seed in their diet, and the rest should be fruit/vegetables to keep them healthy.

The last owner very rarely gave them fruit, and I was told by them that they were in fact the second owner of these birds, so the birds must be fairly old by now (at a guess around 6 years at least)..how do I go about teaching old birds new habits? I have tried introducing various types of fruit, and even cutting the amount of seed available to them to try to get them hungry enough to be persuaded to eat it, but am reluctant to do that for too long a time as I don't like to think of them being hungry...but at best they will nibble at a little fruit then just "hint" by tapping the seed tray over and over again until I feed them seeds!

At present I would say on a good day they eat no more than about 15% fruit and some days refuse to eat any at all. Is this something I need to be concerned about, and if so, how do I go about re-educating them to eat better?!

  • How long after a tongue piercing can I change the bar as often as I like?

I had my tongue pierced yesterday (no lectures, comments about that thanks, I'm 30 and know my own mind!!) The piercist told me to come back in 3 weeks to have the long "beginner bar" changed for a shorter bar.

Will I be able to change my bar when I like after those 3 weeks, or is there an additional amount of time after that I need to wait?

Also, how do you know which length and gauge bar you will need?

I know I can ask my piercist all this in 3 weeks but I am very impatient lol!

  • I'm looking for a perfume that smells like freesias?

I love freesias, but when I have looked around perfume counters etc I can't find anything that smells like them! Can anyone recommend a perfume that smells like freesias, or failing that, roses, as in traditional roses?

Places where I can buy them from would be a big bonus too =)

I am in the UK but happily buy online from national/international sellers.

    Thanks in advance.

  • If We Have Anti-Discrimination Law, How Can Qs On Here With "X"Only Answer Be Legal?

So often I see on here "Christians only" or "men only" or "women only" etc..to me if you are going to post on an open message board, you should be willing to view everyones opinion, and not automatically count their opinion out because they are a different faith/gender/colour/whatever to you?!

Surely everyone who/what/wherever they are from has an equal right to express an opinion?

  • Mould Prevention In American Green Tree Frog Terrarium?

We recently set up our first terrarium, I have kept reptiles before but never anything which required a terrarium.

We have an American Green Tree Frog in it at the moment, all seems to be going well with him, but we are having a fair bit of trouble preventing the exo terra vine we bought for the tank from getting what looks like mildew on it...I assume that this mildew is not beneficial to my frog, so at the moment have been getting around the problem by taking the vine out and cleaning it in aquatize treated water every day or two, but was wondering if there is any product or other solutions out there that might help with this problem?

I assume the humidity of the tank is adding to the mould problem, but I can't really get around this without changing the conditions to something not recommended for the frog!

I would be grateful for any suggestions, and any other good general tips for keeping this type of frog.
