  • Am I over thinking this, or is this relationship never going to take off?

    Hi, thanks for reading :)

Short version: I've become attracted to a woman I've known for a while, and I think she's at least a little interested in me too. So far so good :p

Difficulty is I tend to be quiet, but she's incredibly talkative. We also have differences in our sense of humour. Just off the phone to her, and after 2 hours I could feel her carrying the conversation; I just couldn't keep up. And unlike previous girlfriends, I couldn't rely on my sense of humour to carry me over dry spells.

Are we fundamentally incompatible, or am I over thinking it?

  • Writing a love poem for a cynical partner: please can you help?

    Thanks for clicking :)

longstory-short, there's this woman...! I'm about to ask her out. She's not the swooning fair maiden type; independent character, almost harsh. But she's big on trust and likes the idea of being 'courted' (her words!). Hard to write for her; how's this?

"What you said to me is already poetry."

The trouble with my love is you.

You were born to be a fire eater,

A flame talker, or something fierce and rapturous,

A proud, mile-eating, smiling predator darting fire from her eyes.

That first year: “So you’ll print the letters when you schedule Hearings?”

“I wish I could set people on fire with my eyes”

“Are you sure you’ve got time for that?”

    “Thank you!”

I never have one feeling at a time.

    I feel fuchsia, every morning,

    Happysad you smiled at me,

    Guiltyglad I said nothing.

You speak. “Were you ok today?”

“The rules are clear, if they want to feel you up they should give you chocolate first”

“On another, deeper level, he looks like a dick”

“Maybe if we both wish for it, it might happen”

Nothing in this world is single.

Fire is yellow red; beyond red; invisible violet.

    And an otherworldly watchfulness

Would see despair and celebration in every hunter’s eye.

No man in love is original, and anything trite is a lie.

People are complex, to love is to fear,

And poems are only a sigh.

People who love are a union, and we cry and we laugh as one.

I trust you more than I’m frightened,

And our words have the weight of the sun.

  • What do you think of this? It's for a date...?

Thank you for clicking, here's the situation:

Known this woman a couple years, only in past 6 months or so that our feelings have warmed up. It's a change in our previous relationship, and I want her to know it's a strong change, not a casual, marginal one. Know she likes idea of being 'courted' (everyone's allowed a pet fantasy, and it's part of her loveliness! Will only 'declaim' poem if date goes well:

    If wishing made it so.

I wish that thoughts were sounds, so you could hear me when I thought of you.

I wish that longing had a scent, so you could breathe my wanting you.

I wish that caring had a face, so you could see me when I lived for you.

But some kind spirit, a gentle heart, granted these wishes long ago. For if we touch, you’ll feel the love I wanted you to know.

Too cheesy? Too pathetic? Too needy? Badly written? Please help!
