What is a Christian side-hug?
I saw this video and it left me in a coma for 3 weeks. When I came out, I had plenty of questions. What is a Christian side-hug? Why did they make this song? Do Christians really have a problem with the way people hug?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoQuestion for Ann Coulter... ?
and anyone else who wants to answer. What do you think about this quote? Do you understand what Roberts is trying to say? If so, what's your interpretation?
"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."
— Stephen F. Roberts,[14] quoted in Like Rolling Uphill
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf God is timeless then why the new covenant?
If God is timeless, then why do Christians always make the distinction between Old Testament God and New Testament God. Shouldn't they be the same God? Every time I try to talk about God not being so loving and compassionate and use passages from the Old Testament, Christians always tell me that those were God's old ways and that humans have a new covenant with God because Jesus died for our sins. Well then God isn't timeless. God is obviously moving linearly through time like the rest of us, proof being that he acted as if he changed his mind mid-game. If God was timeless and immortal AND around from the beginning of the universe, one would think he would be pretty dead set in his ways. So, my question is this. How do Christians resolve this dilemma? Is God then not timeless? Or is God timeless and you just ignore the Old Testament?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat do you know about self-fulfilling prophecy?
Wikipedia defines it as
a prediction that directly or indirectly causes itself to become true, by the very terms of the prophecy itself, due to positive feedback between belief and behavior.
Also,
In other words, a prophecy declared as truth when it is actually false may sufficiently influence people, either through fear or logical confusion, so that their reactions ultimately fulfill the once-false prophecy.
So, my question is this. What are the chances that the book of Revelations is going to come true, but only because all of the Christian believers believe it to be true and thus will react accordingly?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAtheists, answer me THIS!!!!?
If God isn't real, then why do I have herpes? Hu? Oh God, I have herpes! Why?
25 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy is it that people are cool w/ God, but hate the tooth fairy?
If an adult goes around saying that they believe in the tooth fairy, everyone thinks they're an idiot. However, millions of people go around saying they believe in God. What's the difference?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat's the difference between a universe with God and w/o God?
What's the difference between a universe where God doesn't exist and a universe where God does exist but refuses to intervene in anyway that would prove his existence? How can anyone tell whether God exists or doesn't? Aren't the two universes logically equivalent?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI have a question. Is God all powerful?
If God is all powerful, then God can create an object that nothing can move.
Case 1) God can't move the object.
If God can't move the object then God is not all powerful so Case 1 is false.
Case 2) God can move the object.
If God can move the object then God cannot create an object that nothing can move because he just moved it. So, Case 2 is false.
If Case 1) and Case 2) are both false and there are no other possible cases, then my hypothesis is false. The only assumption I made is "if God is all powerful." Therefore God is not all powerful. Am I leaving anything out? Is there something I'm forgetting?
30 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoActually, why is killing wrong?
If we all go to the afterlife anyways, and God already knows everything we can/will/could be, then he should be able to judge whether we go to heaven or hell, even if our lives are ended prematurely. And since there's an afterlife, what does it matter if we go around killing each other? There's an afterlife and God already knows where we're suppose to go.
25 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy is homosexuality wrong?
I understand why killing is wrong, because you end someone's life, but why is homosexuality wrong? Why does God care who we sleep with? It's not like the human species is going to go extinct anytime soon (by our perception of time). He's not going to run out of followers on our watch.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy didn't the angel Moroni just leave the golden plates?
The angel Moroni took the golden plates after Joseph Smith was done translating them. Why didn't Moroni insist on leaving them to help prove what actually happened?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy is there a "debt" of sin?
God knew what we were going to do when he created us because he's all powerful, right? So why is there this debt of sin that Jesus had to die for? Isn't it God's fault for creating sinners?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWas Jesus really that brave?
Look, he's the son of God, right? And he knew he was the sun of god, right? So was it really that brave of him to die on a cross? HE'S THE SON OF GOD! Of course he's going to come back from the grave. He's the all powerful son of God. If he didn't come back from the grave then he wasn't all powerful and not the son of God. All powerful son of God would have known this and therefore I ask, was it really that brave of him to die on a cross if he knew he would come back?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhere are the avatars of Vishnu these days?
If Vishnu has infinite avatars, why hasn't anyone noticed them, written about them, or claimed to be him in this day and age?
