An deity angry at the same things you are must be appeased, so you chuck all those you don't like into a hell of your own invention. You know, all those followers of other religions, atheists, homosexuals, and the like. You want to appear civilized and to retain the moral high ground, unlike some other religions, so you don't dare take action yourself(not to mention that it's illegal). Instead, you preach damnation for all except those who follow your particular cult, one cult out of thousands of the same angry deity. Oh, sure, you may *speak* of salvation, but it's only for those who follow, so it's the same as preaching damnation for all others.

But really, shouldn't we, as a species, have abandoned human sacrifice a long time ago?

Harold Camping put a date on the end of the world. Specifically, today, Friday, October 21, 2011. Previous he pegged the Rapture in May and sometime back in 1994. So far, he's 0-for-3. But what is the difference between him and Armageddon-believing Christians?

I just realized that tomorrow, October the 21st, is Frabjous Day... No, wait... That's not right. Sorry, I meant Armageddon. Right, tomorrow is Armageddon. What do you think will happen tomorrow? You see, I got paid today, and I want to find if there's any time left for me to enjoy my money.

If a man appeared tomorrow, on international TV, and said that he was the returned Jesus Christ and was able to quote from the Bible at will, and also said that for reasons unexplainable but logically-elucidated, questions of the afterlife would have to remain unanswered. What level of proof would you require from him before you believed that he was, indeed, the returned Jesus Christ?

I'm just saying.

I never seem able to grasp this concept for some strange reason.

I've been obsessing over this question for the last 12 years, and I'm still no closer to figuring it out.
