  • How do you compare different brands of processors?

I'm trying to choose a processor to build my new gaming computer around and I need some things explained to me.

What's the relation between Multi-core and Operating Frequency?

Like the AMD FX-4100 is 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) with a Quad-Core and the AMD FX-8120 is 3.1GHz with a Eight-Core. Which is better, the higher Frequency or the more cores?

Would the Intel Core i7's Integrated Graphics go to waste if I'm going to use a graphics card?

What is GHz Turbo? Like one processor is 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) while another is 3.1GHz (3.9GHz Turbo). Does it have something to do with over clocking, which I know very little about and have no plans on doing?

  • Is there an Excel formula to count between two time periods out of multiple time periods?

I have a column of hundreds of "event" times throughout a day (formatted: 08/07/2012 13:01:30) and I've been trying to come up with a formula to count the number of "events" that happened within an hour, so between 1pm to 2pm, 2pm to 3pm and so forth.

Also, since I need to calculate this daily I need the formula to ignore the dates.

I am having trouble defining the perimeters such as "1pm" and "2pm" so the formulas I try to write error out.

  • Excel random generator with no repeats?

    This has me stumped...

I have a code to randomly generate I list of numbers between a start number (value 11) in a cell (B6) on a different tab (ROOT) and an end number (value 291) in a different cell (B7) on the same tab: =ROUND($ROOT.$B$6+RAND()*($ROOT.$B$7-1-$ ROOT.$B$6)+1;0)

So I get random list of numbers between 11 and 291 (with repeats).

Then, in the cell next to each generated number is the code: =ROUND(RAND()*($ROOT.$B$8-1)+1;0)

which randomly generates a 1, 2, 3 or 4. Four being the value in cell B8 on ROOT tab.

So I get a list that looks like this:

    106 1

    209 1*

    138 4

    56 4

    83 3

    256 3*

    256 3*

    209 1*

    *but I would get repeats.

Now I need to add a third code to generate a 1 or 2 next to the 1 - 4 so it would look like this:

    138 4 2

    56 4 1

    !!! THE BIG PROBLEM !!!

    I can't figure out how to prevent repeats along all 3 values wherein I would get 2240 unique values of 11 - 291, 1 - 4, and 1 - 2.

    11 1 1

    11 1 2

    11 2 1

    11 2 2

    11 3 1

    .

    .

    .

    291 3 2

    291 4 1

    291 4 2

    but in a random order...

Please Help, this is quite over my head sense I'm not the original code writer.

P.S. I'm also using Open Office 3.3 to run this Excel file....

  • Excel: Formula to select 5 highest numbers out of a ROW with anywhere from 5 - 50 variables?

Is there a way (formula) to select the five largest number out of a row with anywhere from 5 to 50 variables in it and calculate the average of those five numbers?

I can see a way to do it by converting the rows to columns and using the "Sort" tool, but I would like to avoid going to columns as much as possible...

  • Excel: average excluding zero values?

Is there a formula to take an average of several cells but have it exclude zero values from the denominator.

    example:

    [1] [2] [2] [0] [2] [1] [0] [2]

    to 10/6

    not 10/8

  • How do I stop excel from widening photos on print out?

I'm using excel for a project involving photos of my co-workers. Everything will look fine on screen, photos lined up, boarders where they should be, graphs are perfect, but when I print the pictures come out slightly wider than they should be. Just enough to make every one look 5-10 lbs. heavier. I don't want to offend anyone or have people distracted by self-conscious feelings about their weight. Does anyone have a solution that doesn't involve using something other then excel?

  • Naruto Shippuden Movie, the final scene...?

So I just watch the Naruto Shippuden Movie this weekend and it was really good, but that last scene... the one after the credits just had me...

I had to replay it several times just to be sure I wasn't misunderstanding what Shion was asking Naruto... Man, what a way to end it!!

My question is, is there anything (manga, magazine interview, anime, DVD commentary) that says what happens after Naruto realizes what he agreed to?

  • Can you play a game like World of Warcraft from a thumb drive?

Is it possible to load WoW onto a large enough capacity (lets say 16gbs) thumb drive instead of loading the game to your hard drive? Where in it’s possible to play from different computers without having to install the game on each one?

  • C&A’s Ultimate Cross Over Adventure?

    C&A’s Ultimate Cross Over Adventure

Your reality is in danger from a great evil that will be attacking in great numbers, multiple forms and varying degrees of villainy. Everything from technology to magic will be at their disposal. You, individuals of C&A must travel all of fandom and recruit seven samurai (swordsman) to your defense. Be it anime, movie or video game every genre is within your reach. The only rules, you can only take one character from each world, they have to use a sword, and they have to be willing to help. Someone like Sephiroth wouldn’t help, but Cloud would.

Who would be your Seven Samurai?!?

  • I'm asking you C&A, what are you going to be for Halloween this year?

After last year's last minute costume debacle, I'm starting early this year. Now keep in mind, this isn't cosplay. As much as I would like to be a Soul Reaper and sport my sword, none of my friends are into anime and wouldn't get it.

  • C&A I have a question about manga in general for you:?

Has anyone else noticed that manga printed in the last few months are of cheaper quality? The covers feel different, the paper is darker, the bindings are looser...

I'm not here to complain (though I want to), I understand why they're cutting corners, I just wanted to know if anyone else noticed.

  • In Death Note, how long does Misa have to live?

In one of the dubbed (cartoon network) episodes Rem says Misa's life span was extended (past that of a normal human) when a Shinigami died saving her life. Then she made the eye deal and halved it, then Rem dies for her, extending her life again, then she makes another eye deal... ...so is she going to live a very long time or die very young?

  • Has any one read Kochikame?

I thought it was an April fool's day joke when I heard about a manga that started in the 1970's and is ongoing with over 150 volumes. It's called Kochikame. Has anyone read it? I'm thinking if it lasted 30 years it must be good.
