  • How can I make a Bound Object Frame only display icons?

I have an Access form with a Bound Object Frame on it that's bound to an OLE Object in a table. I would like these objects to always be displayed as icons. This Display Type property is set to Icon, which makes it default to display as an icon when you right click to add an object, but if you drag a file into the frame, it always displays the contents of the file instead of displaying an icon. I can't seem to find any properties or methods of the object frame that will allow me to prevent this from happening or even to change it to an icon later. Does anyone have any idea how this can be done?

  • Where does Windows Media Player get CD information?

I assume Windows Media Player uses some online database to find information for music CDs. I have some CDs that I would like to add information for, so other people will automatically see this information. What database do they use? Can I add information to it?

  • Christians: How do you respond to this Bible verse?

John 2:26 - And Jesus said unto them Cast off your clothes, for they are not of God

Does this mean we should all be naked?

  • Christians: Can you explain this biblical contradiction?

Mark 15:25 says "It was nine in the morning when they crucified him."

John 19:14-18 says "It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon. “Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews. But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!” “Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered. Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle."

So, if the entire bible is literally true, then he was crucified both at 9am and some time after noon?

  • Biblical contradiction: King Solomon?

Here's another challenge for those of you who believe the bible to be the unerring word of God. See if you can resolve this contradiction:

1 Kings 7:26 It was a handbreadth in thickness, and its rim was like the rim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It held two thousand baths.

2 Chronicles 4:5 It was a handbreadth in thickness, and its rim was like the rim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It held three thousand baths.

These are remarkably similar aside from the number of baths at the end. They do appear to be referring to the same thing, although I'd love it if someone could explain what they are referring to as well. As a bonus question, a few versus earlier in 1 Kings a circle is described with a diameter of 10 and a radius of 30. This contradicts math as we know it; any explanation for that?

  • Biblical contradiction: What were Jesus's last words?

If the bible is to be taken as the unerring word of God, how can you rationalize the three different accounts of Jesus's last words?

Matthew 27:46-50 claims they were "My God, my God why hast thou forsaken me?"

Luke 23:46 says they were "Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit"

John 19:30 says "It is finished"

All three seem to claim pretty decisively that these were the last words he spoke before he died; how do you explain this?

(Incidentally, the spell checker seems to think I'm asking about Jessi's last words, which I'm sure is an equally compelling question.)

  • Can you justify this biblical contradiction?

This is intended mainly for biblical literalists. This is just one of many contradictions in the bible, which make it difficult to understand how anyone can be expected to take it as the unerring word of God.

MAT 1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

LUK 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli.

Can you explain away this contradiction?

  • Atheists: How do you explain consciousness?

I grew up with a lot of Christian indoctrination, and so in the past it has always gone without saying that self-awareness was a product of the soul. The soul, however, is a necessarily religious notion (I think), but I honestly can't come up with a logical explanation for self-awareness without it. Anyone know of one?

  • Should I get her a Hanukkah gift?

I just started dating this girl. She Jewish, but not practicing. I'm an atheist with a Christian upbringing, so I really know next to nothing about Hanukkah. I really like her, and I want to impress her, but I'm not sure if getting her a Hanukkah gift would be an appropriate thing to do, and I really have no idea what an appropriate gift would be. Any suggestions?

  • Can Theists Show Rational Thought?

Alright, here's how this is going to work: Best answer goes to the theist that can answer this question in a way that shows truly rational thinking. If no such answer exists, then best answer goes to the atheist that gives the most irrational answer. In this case, I'm really looking for an answer from a literalist, but I'll accept the "metaphor" answer otherwise. On to the question.

If God did not want us to be sinners, why did he make the tree of knowledge so easily accessible? Couldn't he at least have made it too tall for Eve to reach the fruit?

  • Christians: If I'm willing to admit that God might exist?

Then would you admit that it's possible that the bible was written by a bunch of dudes who just SAID they talked to God.

  • What are the flaws in Pascal's Wager?

I realize this may be more appropriate in the religion section, but when I asked it there I got very few answers that had any actual logic to them. So, I want to see if anyone here can do better. Can anyone give me a really solid refutation of Pascal's Wager?

  • Christians: Let me rephrase this question?

To be fair, this is directed mainly toward fundamentalists. A short while ago I asked a question that was intended to allude to this, but apparently I did it too arrogantly, and not clearly enough. So, here it is: why would God give me such a clear sense of a non-subjective logic, and then expect me to accept a scripture that is so full of clear logical contradictions?

  • Christians: Why would God give me such an undeniable drive to follow reason?

If he's omniscient, shouldn't he know that creating me with such a strong sense of logic would make it impossible for me to believe in him?

  • Should I be answering math questions on here?

It seems like most of the questions in the math section are from kids doing their homework. I'm concerned that by answering their questions I might just be allowing them to avoid actually learning. I want to be helpful if I can; any thoughts on this?

  • Creationists: Will you accept my challenge?

In the interest of education, I wonder if a creationist will take me up on this challenge: you read On The Origin Of Species, and I will read the Bible (or something else if you think it would be more appropriate.) Any takers?

  • How can omniscience and free will coexist?

Christians claim that God is omniscient, but also claim that man has free will. The seems like a clear logical contradiction; can anyone explain how it isn't?
