Okay, so in chemistry class we had two solutions and an equal amount of each

Solution A: 1.81 pH

Solution B: 11.96 pH

When mixed together we got a 2.68 pH. Did our group do something wrong? If not, why would 2.68 be the result?

If you have a acidic solution with a pH of around 2.5, what would happen if you took about 5mL of that solution, put it in a test tube, and added 1/4 of an alka-seltzer tablet and let it dissolve, what would happen to the pH after the alka-seltzer is added?

What is the purpose of alka-seltzer?

If you have the same amounts of a strong acid (Let's say 2 pH) and a strong base (Let's say 12 pH) what would happen to the pH when you mix them together and why?

Why would scientists opt to use indicators rather than probes/pH paper? This confuses me because aren't the probes and paper better than indicators for finding pH?

Choices:

Universal Indicator

Phenol Red

Phenolphthalein

Alizarin Red

And why?

(I think it's universal indication, but I'm not sure. Also, I'm not sure why it would be)
