  • What could the meaning of this reoccurring dream be?

Okay so, for the last week or so I have had the same sort of dream about three times. I have a tattoo on my foot and I either dream that it starts to fade so much that it is barely visible, or I dream that the tattoo starts to peel off.

I have two tattoos and I only ever dream about this happening to the one I have on my foot.

I have tried to look online for an answer for why I keep having this reoccurring dream but can't find one anywhere.

  • Question about hand and wrist?

So about four months ago or something I tore the tendons in hand and wrist because I punched a wall. I went to the hospital and I got told it would heal in about a month but it healed sooner than that, as in about a week later, by then I had had it for about a month. But then yesterday afternoon I stretched out because I wanted to stroke the dog and I got like a shooting of pins and needles all up fingers and hand, before then nothing had been wrong with it since I tore the tendons and I have done nothing to make the tendons tear again, but since I did that I have been getting some of the same problems as I did then, like it's been aching and if I stretch or bend fingers it feels like a lot of pressure is being put on the wrist and it feels really stiff if I twist it around or move it up and down, and it looks a bit swollen. What could be the cause of this happening again? :s

I am a receptionist now and so it's in a bit of an odd position most of the time because I'm using the computer or if I work in the morning I help with the washing up which means me carrying a lot of heavy bowls back and forth.

It doesn't feel as bad as it did before but because it only became like this again about 24 hours ago I'm a bit concerned that it's going to get worse.

I am thinking about leaving it till the end of the week or the start of next week and if it's not better or has gotten worse then I might ring up NHS Direct to see what their advice is. But until then, what is yours?

  • Teens: Anything you want to rant about?

Exactly what it says, is there anything you want to rant about or get off your chest?

For me, it's work. I started a job about five weeks ago and it has been going good until today. It is in a hotel and today was super busy for us because we were fully booked due to some festival that's happening around here. We have to keep at least three rooms free in case something is wrong in one of them and we have to move someone.. Well today that didn't happen and someone overbooked by like three people and because I'm new, the deputy manager is basically blaming me even though it's not my fault because I always make sure there are at least five rooms free and I have had the manager and deputy manager ringing me up asking what happened like it's my fault just because I was the one that worked this morning and it's not. Apparently all the free rooms had gone by the time my shift had finished, they weren't. And neither of them seem happy with me. I'm the sort of person that needs to impress people and make people proud of me and now they aren't and I feel like I'm failing and it's horrible. :(

    Anyway, what about you?

  • Doctor Who fans, some questions?

I have some questions for Doctor Who fans, just because I'm interested to know the answers and I'm bored..

    1. Who is your favourite Doctor?

    2. Who is your second favourite Doctor?

    3. Who is your favourite companion?

    4. Has an episode ever made you cry, if so which one?

    5. Favourite alien?

    6. Scariest episode you can remember?

    7. Who is your least favourite companion?

    8. Favourite quote from Doctor Who?

    9. Do you ship (like The Doctor) with anyone, if so who and which one?

    10. How long have you been watching it for?

Oh and if you are on Twitter or Tumblr and want me to follow you, then just give me your account names and I will do. I tweet and blog about Doctor Who a lot. :)

    My answers -

    1. Who is your favourite Doctor? I love love love Ten.

    2. Who is your second favourite Doctor? I'd have to say Eleven but I love Nine too, if he was in it longer then he might have been my second favourite.

    3. Who is your favourite companion? Rose.

    4. Has an episode ever made you cry, if so which one? Yes. I watched Doomsday last night and cried like an absolute baby. And I remember crying at The Angels Take Manhatten.

    5. Favourite alien? I find Ood's quite cute, I'm not sure why.

    6. Scariest episode you can remember? The Empty Child scared me. I think it was because of the people walking around saying "Mummy.." all the time and I thought it would give me nightmares. :s

    7. Who is your least favourite companion? Has to be Martha.

    8. Favourite quote from Doctor Who? I have many. I will narrow it down to "And then I met a man called The Doctor, a man who could change his face, and he took me away from home in his magical machine. He showed me the whole of time and space, I thought it would never end.." just because this quote makes me cry, a lot.

    9. Do you ship (like The Doctor) with anyone, if so who and which one? Rose and Ten. I ship these hard. And I liked Nine and Rose too. And I'm starting to like Clara and Eleven.

    10. How long have you been watching it for? I have watched it for ages but on and off. But then I started watching it more a few months ago, when Amy and Rory were in it and now I have watched all of Nine's series and the whole of the second series.

  • Teens: What did you.. and BQs?

What did you dream about last night?

I have been dreaming about Doctor Who a lot this last week because I have started watching a few episodes before going to be. Last night I had a dream that I was Ten's companion and we had to find the cause of this disease that children were catching from watching a certain video on YouTube, he let me go in a spaceship. And during when we were sorting that out my friend had commented on how he had been looking at her like he was attracted to her, and as the companion, who always has chemistry with The Doctor, I was jealous as fu###. When we had sorted the children out, The Doctor left and an old companion of his returned and she had turned evil, she had made this milk that if it touches people they turn in to these robots.. He returned to save me and then it finished with us cuddling and I was like, "Thank you." and he was like, "For what?" and I was like, "For saving me.."

    It was cute.

  • Torn tendons in hand, what can I do to..?

I went to A&E earlier and got told that I have torn the tendons in my hand and that it would take between 4 - 6 weeks to get better. It has almost been one week since it started hurting. Is there something that I can do to hurry up this process?

The triage nurse said that she would give me a sling if I wanted one but she said that the doctor would give me one if she thought I need to have it but she didn't mention anything about it and just told me to take paracetamol. Would something like a bandage help? I don't want to walk around with a sling on all the time. Or are there other things out there which will be able to stop it from aching/hurting so much and make me still able to get on and do things easily? It's my right hand and I'm right handed. I'm at college which means I either spend three days a week writing (which I'm not even sure if I'm able to hold a pen that well at the minute) or on the computer doing work which has been causing me more pain today.

  • When to go the doctors with possible Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

I think I might have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

I punched the wall with the side of my wrist last Thursday and on Sunday it ached for a few hours but then nothing till three days ago. It started aching that afternoon and I was unable to hold things such as cutlery because it felt too uncomfortable and I ended up dropping it. Then I was getting bad pains in it and up my arm after I washed my hair.

Yesterday I woke up and hand was purple and aching and wrist and hand was swollen. During the day I kept getting numb fingertips and pins and needles in them. Hand also went purple during the day too and I was getting shooting pains in hand and wrist last night.

Today it has been aching ever since I got up, about two hours ago and I have been getting pins and needles in fingers. And it is still swollen.

I wanted to go to A&E last night but dad said its just bruised and then I looked up on Google what could be wrong and it said it could be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and I have 99% of the symptoms.

I'm 18 and I'm right handed (the hand and wrist which is bad) which means I have tried to do most things left handed but haven't been able to because it's difficult. I have college on Monday and if I have to write I won't be able to because of how uncomfortable and achey fingers and wrist feels when I hold things.

  • PLEASE HELP. Question about wrist?

I asked a similar question to this last night but I got one answer and there has been changes.

Last week, on Thursday I hit the wall hard several times with the side of my hand because I was stressed. Nothing was wrong with it apart from it hurt a little bit when I pushed the bone bit, then on Sunday I poked it again and it started aching for about three hours.

It was fine then until yesterday afternoon. It was aching a lot and hand, arm and index finger and the one next to it was also aching and it was feeling weak and uncomfortable and like there was a lot of pressure being put on it. Last night it was hurting quite a lot. I woke up this morning and that hand was purple, this has happened twice today and it seems to be colder than the other hand. It has also become swollen since last night and I have been getting quite numb fingertips. Wrist feels so weak and uncomfortable. I have been unable to do simple things such as brush my teeth or use a knife and fork whilst holding the tooth brush and cutlery in that hand. I tried last night and I kept dropping the knife.

Dad won't let me go to A&E because he said there's nothing wrong with it apart from it being bruised and that they will just tell me there's nothing wrong. I wanted to go because I don't want it to get worse and if it was bruising then why would it cause hand and wrist to become swollen, fingertips to become numb at times and only start six days after I hurt my wrist?

    Should I go to A&E?

    What could be wrong?

  • Question about wrist?

On Thursday night I got in to an argument and stormed up stairs and started punching the wall with the side of my hand. I hurt the bone on the side of my wrist but I think it was just bruised because I couldn't tell unless I poked it. On Sunday night I poked it to see whether it was still hurting and it did a little bit but then my wrist started aching for about three hours after that and where it hurt when I poked it before, it hasn't hurt there since. It didn't ache from Sunday night till this afternoon. I went shopping this afternoon and ever since then it has just been feeling horrible! It feels so weak, like it doesn't hurt it just feels super uncomfortable and achey. Index finger and the one next to it has also been the same but rest of my fingers have been fine. Earlier it went a bit weird, like it felt like something had burst in my wrist and then index finger felt like it had sort of a bit of pins and needles and wrist felt like it went cold. Half way up the bottom half of my arm was also aching and hurting a bit this afternoon but it's not too bad now.

I have been unable to hold cutlery because it feels uncomfortable and in the end I end up dropping it. It's super uncomfortable typing this on the laptop. Bending my fingers in to a fist makes it feel like there is a lot of pressure being put on to the bottom of my wrist. I tried opening treats for the dog earlier but I wasn't able to open the packet and had to get someone else to do it for me. I have had to do pretty much everything with my left hand since this afternoon and its been difficult! :(

What's wrong, if anything? Is there anything I can do to my wrist to make it feel better, like less uncomfortable and like less pressure is being put on it?

    Thanks.

  • What jobs can I do with these qualifications?

In a month I finish doing BTEC Health and Social Care Extended Diploma Level 3, I did Health and Social at GCSE too and then I did a BTEC Level 2, this means I have six GCSE's in the subject which are 2 B's and 4 A's.

I am thinking about just getting a job afterwards and going to University next September instead of the one coming up if I decide that I want to so I was wondering what jobs I could get with these?

I have heard that I am able to do things like a Health Care Assistant. Teachers Assistant. Physiotherapist Assistant and any other jobs in the NHS which someone who is qualified enough to do a Band 3 job is able to do, is this true?

I have had experience in health and social care settings such as a preschool, residential home and a nursery through work experience that I have had to do throughout school and college.

And also, is it possible to work your way up from a Band 3 to a Band 4 or 5 without going to University?

  • Teens: Do you think that ... + BQs?

Do you think that if two people are meant to be together then they will somehow be brought together again, sort of like fate? Or do you think that is just in movies?

I have just started listening to a song again and it reminds me of feelings I had towards this boy. I didn't know him that well because he worked in a shop and I'm not confident enough to start big conversations with him when it was such a small shop but we did talk sometimes. I think he was at university here, and he's now gone and I haven't seen him for almost a year. I find it hard to start liking people and I'm not too sure why, but there was something about him that I liked a lot and people who had seen the way we were around each other said that it looks like he liked me but he said he had a girlfriend, (my friend blurted out to him that I liked him).. and he went bright red and after that he changed around me, like for the better.. he would smile whenever I walked in to the shop and talk to me even if he didn't serve me, he'd seem happy that I was there and make eye contact with me all the time even if it wasn't me he was serving and he would laugh at me and reassure me that I wasn't the only stupid one when I did stupid things, (I walked in to a shelf). I just miss him and even though I didn't know him that well, I can't remember another boy making me feel the way he did. I sound lame, but I don't care.

So do you think that in a situation like this, if he liked me and we were supposed to be together then some day there is a chance of us randomly seeing each other again? Or do you think there is no such thing as soul mates and all that crap and it just happens in the movies?

  • Teens: Would you like to go travelling?

Dad mentioned to me last night whilst we were watching Comic Relief that I should go to Africa for a while and volunteer, and do a bit of travelling because it would be good to see the world. I was thinking about going to Kenya in the summer to volunteer for a week and a half with college but it's too late now as the person sorting it out hasn't been there for ages so I'm thinking about doing it next summer instead of this one because then all my friends would have finished college too.

If you did go travelling, where would you like to go?

I'd like to go to Africa and do some volunteering, obviously. I'd also like to go to New York, I hear they have some programmes out there where you can go over and become Nanny's for people and stuff like that for a few months. I'd like to go to Rome, California, LA.. possibly somewhere in Italy too.

  • When should you go to the doctors for tonsillitis?

Another health related question from me, ha. (I have a crap immune system).

Today is Sunday. On Thursday I started to get a bad throat but it was gone after about half an hour. On Friday in the afternoon it started to feel a bit sore, like the sort of bad throats you get with a cold but then at night time it started to hurt. Yesterday it was even worse and today it is worse.

My throat feels a lot bigger than it should do. I tried looking in the mirror this morning to see whether I had any more spots on my tonsils because when I looked yesterday I could see one but I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to see without coughing.

I have hardly drunk in the last two days even though I am thirsty because I can feel the spots when I swallow etc. and it feels disgusting, it makes me want to be sick. I have a bad neck and a headache. It's interrupting my sleep and I haven't eaten much since Thursday. I don't know what my temperature is because we don't own a thermometer and I couldn't find my sisters yesterday but my face is burning even though I'm cold. I have taken paracetamol.

I'm still going to try and go to college tomorrow because I don't want to miss any more days. I know I shouldn't go in but I have a bad attendance and need to get work done which I can't do at home.

When do you think someone should go to the doctors with tonsillitis? I read on the NHS website if it doesn't get better after three or four days, tomorrow will be the fourth day I have had it. Is this true? On the website it said you should go if you have a weakened immune system too, I haven't gone a week without there being something wrong since the start of February (Since then I have had a cold, a bad cough for two weeks, feeling sick, stomach aches etc).

  • Why am I tired ALL the time: teen?

I'm an 18 year old female and I have been feeling so tired for about two weeks.

On college nights I get about seven hours sleep a night where I wake up once or twice and that is usually enough for me. Apart from these last two weeks where I have been feeling much more tired than usual. I have been getting the usual seven hours sleep on a college night but then I have had to come home and have an hour or two nap and I'm still tired after that. I had a day off last week and this week just because I have been too tired to go. Last night I had about ten hours sleep and then I was awake for six hours and had to go back to sleep again for about an hour and a half. A few times last week I also had to get about 10 or 11 hours sleep and even though I was waking up at 2PM I had to force myself to get up. I can't remember a day during the week where I haven't had to take an afternoon nap, the only reason I don't during the weekends is because I spend most of the day sleeping anyway.

I haven't been experiencing any more stress than usual. And I don't have a terrible diet. I have been feeling sad a lot more than usual this last week though and I have been feeling ill with headaches, stomach aches and feeling sick on occasions too.

Is there a reason I'm feeling a lot more tired than usual? Or is it just normal?

    1 AnswerWomen's Health8 years ago
  • Why am I tired all of the time?

This has been going on for about a week. I just feel tired ALL of the time. No matter how much sleep I get. At the start of the week I was finding it hard to sleep at night and feeling ill when I woke up so had two days off college and slept till the afternoon which meant I had about 10 - 12 hours sleep a night. It's now Saturday and on Thursday I went to college for an hour and a half and then I had a nap for about an hour, I still felt tired afterwards. On Friday I had eight hours sleep at night and then I didn't get up till about 10, I still had to have an hour and a half nap during the afternoon though. Last night I had 11 hours sleep, I woke up at 2:00PM and still had to force myself out of bed. About 6PM I was finding it hard to stay awake and I've been yawning all day.

There has been little things wrong me with me over the last like, month too. At the start of the month I was feeling sick and getting a bad throat etc, I got this twice in the space of a week or two. Two weeks ago I got a cold and quite a bad chesty cough which have only just gone, I have been getting quite bad stomach aches and most of today I have had a headache. (I have a bad immune system and there is seriously always something different wrong with me).

Why am I feeling tired all of the time? It's not like I'm not getting enough sleep or working too hard because I haven't done much. It was half term last week and this week I only went to college for an hour and a half because I have been too tired or I haven't been feeling well.

  • Teens: What is something you want to do but never think you will?

What is something you have always wanted to do but never think you will?

For me it's to become an actress. I would love to join a drama group and go to auditions etc but I don't think I ever will because I don't have the confidence and the only proper acting I have done was during drama at school and that was about four years ago apart from a few bits of acting I have had to do at college as a counsellor or whatever, I had to do some a few weeks ago and I enjoyed it a lot. I'm 18 now and I have been thinking about it so much over the last year and a few months but I haven't done anything to make it happen.

So, what's a dream you have that you never think you will get round to making happen?

  • When should you go to the doctors about a cough?

I think I have heard that when you have a cough for about three weeks you should go to the doctors, but are there some signs which means you should go to the doctors before those three weeks?

I have had a cough for almost two weeks. When I first got it my chest was feeling really tight and was hurting most of the time. It isn't as tight now though but still feels tight at times. When I breathe out heavily and when I cough it rattles. It is a really chesty cough and sometimes when I cough there's like a burning in my chest and it can also be quite phlegm-y. I also have a bunged up nose? I got the cough the day after I got a cold but the cold has gone apart from being bunged up and the cough seems to be getting no better. I have been taking cough medicine.

The last time I had a cough like this I waited a month before going to the doctors and finding out it was a chest infection but this time it feels a bit worse on my chest. I don't want to go to the doctors though because if it isn't a chest infection and it is just a normal cough then I will feel stupid and I don't like wasting their time. It's making me not want to go to college though because before I found out I had a chest infection last time I started having a coughing fit in class and the teacher kicked me out, I was so embarrassed.

What do you think, normal cough which will get better on it's own or a chest infection, or something else? Do you think the doctor will even see me if I ring up and tell them I've had a cough for almost 2 weeks?

  • Teens: Do you want a tattoo?

If so, where would you want them and what of? Or have you got some already?

Me and my best friend were talking about this last night and I'm just interested in what ideas other people have for their tattoos. We are thinking about getting matching ones on our feet. We are both big Harry Potter fans and we like the idea of getting "Always." (from when Dumbledore goes to Snape, "Lily, after all this time?" and he's like "Always.") with like footprints from the Marauders map underneath it. The "Always." can mean anything like our future relationships, a bit from one of our favourite films but mostly relating it to our friendship because we have been best friends for 8 years. Do you like this idea?

  • Teens: Don't you hate it when...?

Don't you hate it when people assume that just because some of us don't have jobs it means we don't do anything with our lives?

Like I know there are a lot of teenagers out there that just sit around all day but there are some of us that don't have jobs but still do things with our lives.

I'm at college three days a week, I have to go to work placement one day a week and then I either look after my niece and nephew the other day or have a driving lesson. On top of that I have college work I have to do. My parents do pay for my driving but that's because they don't give me any money for anything else and I help them out a lot during the week when they are working. Also on top of that I'm looking for a job. The only money I get during the week is £10 I earn from looking after my niece and nephew and I have to save that up so I can afford a driving lesson or two per month.

It just annoys me how a lot of people assume we don't bother looking for jobs or do anything else. I've been looking online for jobs tonight and finding one that fits around college and everything else is so difficult. I found this one for a receptionist where you had to have experience being a receptionist and qualifications in beauty. I just don't think some people understand how hard it is anymore.
