  • Best Free ride skis for hitting the slopes and the park?

I switched to snowboarding years ago but I would like to get back into skiing. I am looking for skis that I can hit the slopes with, but once feeling comfortable, start getting into some freestyle. I have heard that the Armada TSTs are good all around skis but since I have not been in the ski world for a long while now, I have very little idea which skis would be best for me. Any advice is appreciated.

  • Thoughts on the TV show Revenge?

The first episode I saw was the tenth episode and like most mainstream tv channels I thought it was a little too drama-ish at first, but I watched the rest of the season and its actually not bad. Some of the elements of the show seemed aimed to please a romantic girl crowed but I like the premise. Thoughts?

  • Compound bow vs Recurve bow (and small hand held compound crossbow?)?

I have been thinking about getting into Archery, for general relaxed sport, possibly hunting, and self defense (if the situation ever presents itself). I had some archery schooling in my grade school years, but now 10 years later I am thinking about getting back into it.

I understand that compound bows are more accurate and more powerful thus more useful for hunting, but I am worried about how reliable they are. The fact that if something brakes you have to go to a shop to get it fixed, and that a dry fire can easily break something alone.

With the Recurve I am interested because it seems like it would be easier to fix, and might help me improve my technique more since more skill is required to shoot them accurately, but at that point I am worried about the range, that past 20 yards they start to lose their accuracy.

Thoughts? Solutions? And any ideas on good starter bows for both categories?

preferences: I don't really like hunting patterns or colors, all black options preferred please though the recurve could be made of wood (I know, ascetics shouldn't be too important). Also looking for good quality, don't need top of the line but definitely not cheap either,

Oh and does anyone know of handheld compound crossbows (maybe it wasn't compound, I'm not sure), that can be held and fired with one hand? I saw something like that on the internet, but more info would be appreciated. Again quality if possible please.

    Thanks.

  • The Hunger Games, worth reading?

I have been debating recently whether The Hunger Games is worth read. It seemed like an interesting premise, but as soon as I saw that it was listed under teen fiction, I became skeptical.

What was your overall opinion of the book? Worth the money?

  • Arnis /Kali /Eskrima training that is "full time"?

I have become interested in learning eskrima and am looking for an immersive experience where I can train "full time". By this I mean somewhere I can go to train for multiple hours a day, 4-6 days a week, for months on end, maybe up to a year or two. I really want to have some sort of dedicated training where I can learn quickly and efficiently these skills.

I want to do this to become physically competent in any situation, and also to have an experience that is out of the norm and where I can try/learn new things. The fitness involved is a plus as well.

  • Military tactical wrist equipment (watches?)?

I have seen these things in videogames, movies, and videos of real life and I am curious what they are? (I mean I am not even sure they are watches)

But they are worn on the wrist, generally a light greenish color or maybe tan. They are square-ish in shape and have some type of face (or screen) on them.

I was wondering, what are they? Watches? Timers? Some type of small computer? etc.?

    Any info is appreciated.

If you serve in one branch of the armed forces then switch to another, will the new branch recognize your rate from the old service? Or will they want you to start from scratch?

  • Which would you prefer and why? Ducati Streetfighter 848 or Ducati 848 Evo?

If I remember correctly the 848 evo has a slightly increased horsepower, but they are both sexy machines. They are both very appealing to me and I couldn't tell you which I would rather have (well both if possible).

Which would you pick and why? Serious answers please, and reasoning to back your choice would be nice if possible.

  • Opinions of Ron Paul (not baseless criticism)?

I am a Libertarian and for a while I heard the name Ron Paul and before I even knew anything about him I just wrote him off as someone fanatics get behind. But I have come to realize how wrong I was (of course this is all my opinion). I never realized what his view are, and now that I do, I am a strong supporter.

I believe him to be: honest and sincere (unlike almost every other candidate), and genuinely passionate about the good of the nation. He supports the individuals right to choose (obviously as a libertarian), and he is actually knowledgeable in the workings of our federal system and how to fix it. We have tried for years now government control and high spending, all that does is make the bubble bigger before it pops. Why are some people so against the chance of trying something new that has a good chance at succeeding? He is also the only candidate to voice that he will bring the troops home IMMEDIATELY and stop spending the billions upon billions policing the world. He also wants to destroy the FED (which is unconstitutional, there should be no federal banking system) because the more money it prints, the poorer every individual becomes, and if this trend keeps up, life could become extremely hard for most of America because of hyperinflation. Just concentrating our forces around our borders and ending this moronic printing of money will save billions for our country and help reduce the problems we currently suffer from. And as a libertarian, even if you don't agree with him, he still believes in your right to choose as a citizen of a country based on liberty.

I have trouble understanding how with a stance that is so open minded to all individual rights and perspectives, that some people view him as a bad presidential candidate. And also the fact that unlike almost every politician, he can be trusted to hold to his views, since he has been consistent for the past 30 years, not switching talking points to appease social opinion.

To put it into one sentence, if you believe that he isn't a good candidate, why (and please give detailed examples and facts).

P.S. No ignorant pandering, and childish regurgitation, I am asking this question as a serious adult and want a serious answer, not some sarcastic one liners or stuff you just "hear from mommy or your buddies).

  • I have been getting a lot of irritation lately while shaving?

I found out that in most "normal" shaving gels, the chemicals were giving me some irritation (red bumps). So I switched over to a natural based (aloe) shaving gel and most irritation that I got from shaving went away. But recently I have been shaving and my irritation has gotten worse (only on my neck, the place that isn't really flat, unlike the face :/ ). I make sure to go with the hair instead of against it, but I don't understand why this has gotten worse. Maybe I am pressing too hard, or maybe I have used the razor head, one too many times?

    Thoughts?

  • How likely is it to get selected to FBI HRT by going through the bureau instead of going through the specops?

(Reposting because I posted in wrong section).

I am curious about what the course would look like going through the FBI then into HRT instead of joining the military and serving in some sort of Special Operations Forces, then to HRT. What is the competition like? How likely are you to make it if not previous military? Can being in great shape and determined help you compete with the spec ops vets?

Anyone with any knowledge about the matter would be great. Also what exactly is their training like? I have done some research but i want someone else's information and opinion.

Thanks and please, no couch commanders or 5 second google pros either...

  • Would anyone with past FBI experience be willing to share some info?

I am thinking about joining the FBi and moving into HRT as soon as possible. But I was wondering what people's experience was working for the FBI. Since it isn't possible to apply for HRT right off the bat, i was curious what its like to work for the main part of the bureau . Hours, cases, training, pay, etc. Anything you could think of and share would be greatly appreciated.

Please no couch commandos or 5 second google pro's.

  • Can any ex-Navy EOD techs give me their experience on what it was like to go through the pipeline?

I am wondering what other people's experiences with the pipeline were like. Was dive phase hard? What are some important skills to have when at Eglin AFB, Whats it like at Eglin, etc.

I was thinking about becoming a Navy SEAL originally, but have looked at EOD and have been thinking about that as an option as well. I know that physically I can get prepped for either course, but I have to admit that the daily grind of BUDs is a bit intimidating (I am by no means a quitter, but neither do I have that blind, burning passion that many others who join the military seem to have, and I don't want to be stuck on a floating prison).

Basically I am leaning toward becoming an EOD tech, but I would still like to work with SEALs and SF and am curious about other people's experiences and opinions.

    Thanks.

  • How does a Navy EOD tech get assigned to NSW Companies that deploy with SEALs and SF?

I know the basic pipeline but how does an EOD tech get into a NSW company? I assume working hard and showing your skills, but any specifics? Because I would like to become and EOD tech but I also want to receive more combat training than regular techs.
