  • 401 K Withdraw Question?

I am UNDER 59.5 years old.

I left a job that matched my 401 K contributions.

I have decided to withdraw the portion that was matched to me (yet I have left the portions that I have contributed untouched). The money was not rolled over into a new investment.

I was surprised to see the electronic statement sent to my banking account was indeed the full amount and no taxes were with withheld.

The withdraw was based on cashing out on company stock (the matching contributions).

What should I expect to owe in terms of taxes this year for this transaction? I was assuming this would be a 20% and I thought this would have been withheld... is this money, as matched funds from the investment, taxed differently?

  • Nimblewill Weed "torch weeder" control?

Hi, My lawn has had Nimblewill weed patches in it for a few years now... realy not that bad until this year -some of the patches have grown large... I have deciced to finally destroy this perrenial grass weed once and for all. The problem is it is not an easy weed to totally destroy... I don't use toxic products if I can help it... and I do not feel like digging out all of that otherwise perfect soil. (The only two options listed in my research...)

I have a torch weeder that is pretty much the ultimate weeder for patios and walkways- I treat them once in the spring and the weeds never come back all season.. this thing works very well.

My hunch is that I can destroy the patches of Nimblewill with my weed torch.. (It is a shallow rooted grass weed).

Has anyone had any luck with this type of practice?.. also open to further creative ideas?

  • Compost Tea Info?

Hi, I just built a compost tea tank in my shed.. 64 gallons... outfitted with a valve, hose and old lawnmower bag suspended inside... (stuffed with the compost).

I would like to know what type of materials might I add to the mixture to enhance it... I have read several conflicting points of information. Some say bubbles, some say bubbles pointless, some say manure- some sy manure bad, some say fish guts- some say fish guts bad (all agree smelly)... u get my point...

Anyone have a large tank like this that they use... have any best practices?

  • Brick wall crack repair?

Any good steps \ tip for repairing an exterior brick wall on my house? There are two cracks running from the window sill (I am going to replace the window too and will be removing the casing)... Water penetrates and seeps down the inside wall after snow and with heavy rains. (North facing wall to make matters worse).

    Thanks!

  • lactose intolerance - how long will pain last?

Hi - I am lactose intolerant... I have found this year that my tolerance level has dropped and I can consume less amount of lactose. I ate a small amount of Ice Cream yesterday and suffered major stomach cramps last night... I mean BAD. I called the doctor who suggested it will pass within a day. He suggest a laxative, which I did that helped a little.

I am still suffering from the pains 24 hours later... they are much less intense and have shifted lower.

I was wondering if anyone else suffers from this and how long they have to endure the cramps..?

  • Floral Colorant? Spray?

Does anyone know where one could purchse floral colorant?

The kind you see florists using, looks like a "spray paint can."

My google searches are comming up pretty much empty handed. Perhaps I just don't know what the professional term is for the product...

    Thanks.

  • Ephedra- will it be back?

I have slowly and steadily gained weight since the ban on ephedra. I was a responsible ephedra based stacker product user. I alternated the ussage and used it in part of a greater program. I do still work out and I am generally in shape.

I have heard that Ephedra based stackers may be comming back-- does anyone know if this is true. This product did work and I feel the side effects and possible unfortunate health concerns were overblown for political reason. Did you know more people were injured due to beach umbrellas blowing over than were reported as being possibly injured or otherwise hurt by ephedra in 2002?

Regardless, does anyone have the skinny on this- maybe a link?

    Thanks.

  • Exterior Laminate?

Would anyone know what type of laminate sheeting and backing that is available for outdoor siding? (Such as siding we may see on commercial properties). I am interested in siding a cabin into a modern update. My first idea is to laminate panels of exterior marine grade plywoord with Formica... (being there are so many choices of Formica it could be very interesting). I could then attach the panels to the exterior with hidden fastners. I would involve very little trim in which to inspire a modern clean look...

Marine grade ply is very durable yet I am concerned with expansion and adhesive failure with a Formica laminate.

Any ideas or links to suppliers or materials intended for this purpose?

  • Grub insecticide harmful to Earthworms?

Recently I repaired section of my lawn by removing the soil and placing new soil and seed. I took note that I didn't see a single earthworm. I feel this is odd and not healthy... In my research I have learned to treat the lawn for grub prevention in Fall for best results. Is it possible that my grub prevention efforts in the past killed beneficial critters like earthworms?

  • Lawn Dye- Have you used it?

Despite professional lawncare and irrigation- my NJ lawn has gone somewhat brownish till fall. Has anyone tried lawn dye products? My golf course suggested it- as they claim to use it with positive results. (I can't tell where they used it even after they pointed it out to me). Of course my yard is a bit smaller than the course.
