I have heard other Muslims say bismillah ar-rahman ar-raheem at the beginning of a speech - is this typical? Do they usually recite the surah al fatiha in its entirety?

Let me give you a brief run-down of my job and my credentials. I have a degree in Political Science, which I hoped would help me find a way into politics. It did; I work for an elected member of parliament but since doing so, I have realized that it's truly NOT the job for me. I still have ambitions to run for political office, but not for a while at least.

People keep telling me to find a job in an area that I love. The problem is, my life has evolved around politics since I finished high school and it truly is the one area of major interest for me.
