  • French Teachers - Where to get Disney movies?

I used to have a small collection of Disney movies in French for my classes but they are all VCR. I would like to replace these with DVD's but it's been over 8 years since I taught and cannot remember where I bought them from. Seemed it was through an education magazine. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

  • Good jobs/careers without college degree?

I am putting together a list of job/career options that do not require a college diploma but do require training or certification and can be acheived in a relatively short time. Examples include, real estate agent, insurance agent, beautician, child day care....

I work at a shelter for women and would like to use this list to research our community for people who could come to speak about these opportunities that are available.

  • Name of Movie - Set in 19th Century England maybe?

The movie was about a young unwed woman who gave her child up for adoption to a well-off man who needed an heir. The woman (purposely) finds employment as a nanny to her daughter without the man's knowledge some 6-7 years later. She finds that her daughter is a spoiled and terrible child allowed to do at her own whim. The adoptive father requires that the child never be told no, is allowed to do whatever she wants and should never have any slight amount of pain. However, he realizes that the greatest pain for the child is that she has no mother and so the movie ends in a "happily ever after" .....

I do not know any of the actors but the woman was dark haired, very pretty and her face reminds me of a naive Catherine Zeta-Jones. I remember the man as maybe like Woody Allen in stature, but no glasses and with an air of confidence.

  • Blended family - how can his way + my way = OUR WAY?

My 19 YO bonus son moved in with us 6 weeks ago after having some major life adjustment. Before he came, hubby and I discussed rules of the house and expectations. One rule was that 19 YO and GF not allowed at our house without one of us there. (Bio mom had let them live together in her home before graduation from HS) We agreed to allow him to earn an occasion based on good behavior (and also allowing hubby and I a date night). One earned and we went to dinner. They then took for granted that it was okay any time. I expressed my feelings each time on this and hubby eventually re-laid the ground rules. We never know when they plan to come to our house or go out on date.

We went for pizza last night and 19YO called 10 min after we left. Hubby knew that the two were there and more or less made conscious decision not to inform me. I was not happy about this.

I constantly battle with issue of feeling like I belong amongst hubby and older children. Advice on how to handle this? How can I maintain sense of belonging if my feelings on these issues are not taken into consideration?

  • Charging options for I-pod?

Hubby and I are going out of country and on the return home we will have a 5 hour lay over. I am going to load a couple movies and TV shows onto my i-pod for hubby and I to waste time with. My concern is that the i-pod surely uses more battery power for video.

    A) How long can I expect battery life on video

    B) has anyone seen another option besides car charger, computer charging, docking or wall charging - - like the Duracell single use phone chargers that are available now.

    I have 30GB I-pod.

  • Westie White?

My westie is wonderfully active and loves to find bugs in the dirt. Hence, paws and nose tend to be "dingy". She is bathed weekly with a white enhancing shampoo and I spot touch a cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide on stained areas. Any other suggestions to help maintain her white color? She's not quite a year old and I don't want to see stains set in as she gets older.

  • Step-son in Re-hab, what's a step mom to do?

My 19 year old step son is currently in re-hab for OD on methadone. He arrived at our house 3 months ago from his mother's. She sent with him Clonopin, Triazadone, Paxil and Loratab because she claimed he was having panic attack, addicted to Xanax etc. His father and I never saw these behaviors in him when he lived with us for 6 months. The mother has been continuously nasty and unbearing to us. I snapped and wrote her a letter asking her to please relinquish her own insecurities and identify with her own problems so that we could work together to help the son. She retaliated with a 5 page letter attacking me personally with half truths and downright lies. I do not care about her attack on me, I am concerned that the son will be coming out of rehab to live with us and "mom" is thoroughly not pleased with this. I would like suggestions from others on how a step-mother can best handle dealing with the step-son's recovery while battling the control/craziness of the mother. Thanks
