  • Why am I losing my wireless internet connection?

I am always losing my wireless internet connection on my laptop. To restore it, I need to shut off my computer, turn off my modem, unplug my router, reboot modem, plug in router again and turn computer back on. I have tried uninstalling network adaptor and rebooting computer, but this needs to be done 5-6 times per day?!? I am thinking there is something else that could be causing this. Any ideas? I am using SBC Global DSL wireless, HP Pavilion laptop, netgear router. Any help is much appreciated, as I am getting super frustrated.

  • Wireless Internet Connection Problem - requires modem & router reboot

Quite frequently, I lose my internet connection on my laptop. To restore connection, I need to shut off computer, reboot modem & router (sometimes multiple times). I have a desktop hooked into router, and don't have this issue and I have this same problem when using my laptop at my parents house, which is also a wireless network. I feel it is a problem with my laptop, not ISP, I have run windows repair tool and it returns with no help. It is a fairly intermitent problem, but lately seems to be worse. One way, I can for sure duplicate the problem is is if I close my laptop (shut the screen down onto the keyboard) and then when I reopen it, no internet connection. It is very frustrating, any help is much appreciated. I am running Windows XP, on HP Pavilion, connection via SBC Global DSL service and I am using AVG for virus protection.
