  • How can I relocate to a different state without already having a job there?

I am ready to apply for a home loan, I've got everything in order. I want to buy a home in a different state but since I am not already living and working in that state, I cannot get a home loan for the house I want to buy.

Is there any way around this? I was told I would have to go to my desired state, rent a place, get a job, wait about a year and then apply for a home loan...If I do it this way, my entire savings will disappear in no time and then I will have nothing for a down payment.

There has to be another way around this. I have $10k for a down payment and I only planned on buying a $33k home so it's not like I need to borrow all that much money. I have stable employment, good credit...

Any advice? I want to move out of my current home as soon as possible.

  • How can I dispute Experian's resolution of my case?

I really need some help, I'm trying to prequalify for a home loan and I am working on my credit score. I've learned lots of good tips on the internet and have put them into action but I am not having much luck. My question has 2 parts :)

    1) I disputed a bill with Verizon and they sent the account to collections. I disputed the account with collections formally by sending them a "packet" of my case. In this packet I had a letter of dispute and copies of my bills where I circled the dates and balances in question. After not hearing anything from the collection company I called to ask the status and they told me that Verizon has removed my file from them. I asked why I wasn't notified but they had no answer.

So then I filed a dispute with Experian; I sent them my letter of dispute AND I sent them the same packet that I sent to the collections agency. I told Experian that more than 30 days had gone by without anybody letting me know the status of my dispute or case. (I thought that legally if more than 30 days go by after disputing something and you don't hear from, the collection gets removed from your credit report???) Next thing I know I get a letter from Experian saying basically that I LOSE!!!! I don't think anybody even really looked at my packet!!! God help me because I don't feel that I owe this money.

If it comes down to having to pay it, will it then be removed from my credit report? Or is my credit scarred now? :( :(

    2) I learned about writing letters and requesting a "goodwill adjustment" to my creditors with whom I had one late payment 2 or 3 years ago but otherwise have perfect payment histories with. I wrote 3 of these letters to 3 different creditors. One letter I sent was to American Honda Finance, I was unable to find the proper address to mail the letter to so I called the dealership where I bought my car. I used that address and mailed the letter but it was returned to me with a label saying my letter was not deliverable as addressed.

So, I called Honda's corporate headquarters and explained which address I needed and why. Using this slightly different address, I mailed off the letter again. This one also got returned to me with the same label. This whole process has taken 2 months and I have not gotten anywhere. What should I do next?

  • Where should I put this money?

I have a few thousand dollars that I want to set aside for a down payment on a house but I don't know where to put the money. I don't want to mix it with my normal checking or savings account because if I do I will spend it. Should I open up an account in a credit union? Maybe a cd? I want to put the money where it will make the most sense and possibly raise my credit score. Thanks in advance!

  • What is the best way to put this on my resume?

I'm revamping my resume, I need advice. Is it redundant to say, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Publisher? Do I just say Word and Publisher? Also, If I say I use networking tools such as facebook and Constant Contact, is there something better to call it than "networking tools"?

And do I type facebook on my resume the way it appears as their logo, with a lower case "F"?

    Your help is appreciated!

  • Why do people do this to their fireplaces?

I see it in older homes and I see it in almost every single one of them; people fill in their fireplaces with bricks and then put some big, old funky-looking black, stove-looking thing in front of it. I want to buy a old house with wood burning fireplaces but looks like people always filled them in with bricks. WHY? Another thing people do is fill it in with bricks but install a space heater in the center of the fireplace, how odd looking is that? Is this reversible???

  • Why don't my light switches work now?

I just installed a new light fixture in the hallway, it goes on when I flip the switch (the main fuse/circuit breaker switch in the garage) but neither of the 2 wall switches that control that light will work now. I know that I wired the new light correctly, I grounded it and everything. Anyway, it comes on so I know it works. But why have the wall switches inside the house stopped controlling the light? Now the only way I can turn that light on is if I flip the circuit breaker switch in the garage, but that's also the only way I can tun it off....

  • Where can I report this?

My boss only pays for overtime if you work OT 2 weeks in a row. In other words, if in week 1 of the pay period I work 50 hours but in week 2 I only work my normal 40, I get no OT pay. Not fair. Is this legal?

  • Is it bad to burn wood indoors that came from a diseased tree?

I had a tall tree cut down in my backyard, well winter is coming and I want to chop it up to burn it in my fireplace. I had to have it cut down because it was dead, it had some fungus on the outside and now that it's cut into logs I see a very dark center. What do you think? Will it release toxic fumes?
