  • Studying abroad in Spain: where should I go?

Hey everyone. Next year I am planning to study abroad in Spain, probably for the entire school year, which is around September to June or early July there. I am not exactly sure where I want to go, but below are my choices.

I will be studying Spanish (Castillian), and will take courses instructed in Spanish. If I go to Galicia, for example, I might also take a course the regional language, i.e. Galician.

Where do you think is the best place for someone like me? I would like to be in an older city with an interesting history. I plan to travel around Europe as well.

    Here are my options:

    Universidad de Alcalá (Madrid)

    Universidad de Almería (Andalucía)

    Universidad de Málaga (Andalucía)

    Universidad de Vigo (Galicia)

    Universidad Pública de Navarra (Navarra)

Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (Galicia)

Universitat de les Illes Balears (Las Islas Baleares)

    Muchas gracias.

  • Where are my castanets?

I lost my castanets like a year ago. They're somewhere in my house; I checked inside the piano bench, around shelves, in boxes, but to no avail. I cannot find my castanets anywhere!

If you know where they are in my house, please tell me.

    Thanks y'all.

    Sincerely,

    An aspiring male flamenco dancer/castañuelista.

  • The Spanish, Portuguese and South Americans worship Mary more than Jesus?

Why is it that Catholic Iberians (people from Spain & Portugal), and subsequently Catholic South Americans generally worship Mary, the virgin mother of Jesus, more than Jesus himself?

I cannot find the reason for this, and it interests me greatly.

Any insight will be appreciated. Thanks y'all!

  • Arabic speakers: Is this an Islamic chant?

Go to 0:40 in the video below:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJEmMKvZ2Bc

This song was put in a video game from 1998 called "Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time". However, it was removed in later versions of the game because it resembled an Islamic chant. Apparently they are singing "I bear witness that there is no God but Allah." in Arabic.

Is this true? Are they speaking Arabic?

  • Digital Pianos: 64 vs 128 polyphony?

When I was looking at Yamaha digital pianos, I noticed that some had "64 polyphony" and some had 128 polyphony ; I'm guessing that that's how many notes you can play at once (please correct me if I'm wrong). Will I ever notice the difference between 64 & 128 polyphony? Why is there this distiction?

Thanks for explaining this to me.
