  • I want to be a physicist. What should I do?

I'm 29 years old, and up to this point I have not been able to put my finger on what I want to do for the rest of my life. I have always had an interest in science, specifically Astronomy. I'm a total space nerd, but I want to take my nerdiness to the next level. My plan is to go back to college and start some kind of degree in the Sciences--my preference being Physics.

I have a degree....in art. Which isn't exactly that fantastic. I am very good at math. It was my strongest subject in school, and even managed A's in Trig and Calculus. I almost pursued Science in the first place, but my sort of slacker hippie side won the day, and now I'm eager for a redo.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice for me.

  • Concerning the New Covenant...?

According to the New Testament, Jesus represents the New Covenant of God with Man, in which no more sacrifices are needed because of the Ultimate Sacrifice of Jesus. Jesus said that he had only ONE Commandment, and that was to Love One Another As you Have Loved Me.

If this is the case, why is it then that Christians are so eager to persecute people who have sinned according to the Old Covenant? Why should any of the Old Testament rules apply when Jesus said they no longer applied to anyone, and the only Commandment was to Love?

  • Why is Christianity Divided?

I have heard many Christians say things like "Catholics/Mormons aren't Christians", yet their principle deity is Jesus Christ. I would like someone to explain to me how someone who prays to Jesus isn't a Christian. To me, it's all the same Brand, just different departments.

  • Why do Catholics defend priests who have molested children?

Every time a priest is caught with child pornography or is found out to be a child molester, the Church defends and relocates them to a different parish. Why? Why not excommunicate them, and hand them over to the legal authorities?

This very issue is why I will never return to church. I will not be involved in a church that defends pedofiles. I'm just curious why anyone else would continue to support them (even if your particular church has not been involved in the scandal). If the cardinals, bishops, and even the Pope are going to defend these people, why haven't the people of God said no more, and cut off their funding?

  • Why can't we just get along?

I see a lot of christians/athiests/muslims who post questions that seem to be meant to incite anger from someone who is not of the same belief. I don't see the point of this. Do you not realize how small the world is? So what if your neighbor or some anonymus poster does not believe what you believe? Is it changing your life at all? Does it really matter that much? If someone did not define themselves as a christian/athiest/muslim, would they get the same ire and insults?

There is so much bad in this world, why make it worse? Why spew hatred?

I do not have a favorite in this. All groups are equally unable to to accept the other's view, from my experience. I'm just curious what reason someone would give for their behavior, when no harm has been done to them physically or spiritually?

  • Why are so many Christians so very judgmental, despite their doctrine teaching they should leave it to god?

I have noticed that every time someone asks a question from a different point of view or religion, the immediate response from most christians is to attack the person and cast judgment. Why is this, when your own doctrine teaches otherwise? I grew up a christian, the daughter of a church deacon and sunday school teacher, and this is the hypocricy that made me run screaming out the door. Please, would someone explain this to me?
