  • Training for my first triathlon?

For the past 3 years I have been on my varsity high school swim team. Now swimming is over, and I'm graduating, but I don't want to stop competing. So I was thinking about doing a few triathlons.

I don't think the swimming will be a problem. I can swim 200 yards in 2 minutes and 8 seconds, and 500 yards in about 6 minutes flat. During the season I swam for 1.5 hours a day six days a week.

Buuuttt, I can't run to save my life, and the only biking I've ever done is recreational mountain biking on very easy terrain. I don't know how to train for these parts of the race.

I already know that I'm going to go to swim practice 3 days a week for an hour and a half with a lot of my team mates. But what would you recommend I do for training for the biking and running parts? I really have no idea what I'm doing

  • Is it okay to ask my old pastor to do this?

A friend of mine comitted suicide on Monday. I'm sure a lot of people have been praying for him and his family.

My old pastor moved away in November. But he was my favorite pastor that I've ever had. I was wondering if it's acceptable for me to message him and ask him if he could please pray for the family. I'm not good at praying for people.

  • Ants in my bathroom, pleas please help me?

Tonight I went into my bathroom and I noticed a few small black ants crawling around. I have a bit of an ant phobia and it would be terrible if I woke up to a few hundered of them. So I smashed those with a tissue and took some tape to seal off the cracks where the wall meets the floor to hopefully turn anyore back. I plan on scrubbing the place down tomorrow morning. But will that be enough to get them out? And what if they migrate to my room?

Also, can you use raid inside? I'm pretty sure that is the only ant killer we have. I just want to spray the cracks at the bottom of the wall.

Please please tell me what to do to keep them out? I promise I'll pick a best answer!

  • Off the block vs in a relay?

So my high school swim season just ended, state was yesterday. I am planning on going to another meet next week, and swimming in the 50 yard freestyle. I didn't really swim that as an individual event the last half of the year. But I swam it in the medley relay at state with a split of 25.50. This meet that I'm going to is pretty big, so I'm going to wear my techsuit again so I shouldn't swim much slower than I would have had I swam that at state. Anyway, what do you think the difference will be off the blocks? I'm thinking a high 25, or low 26. I'm a girl btw.

  • Butterfly kick disqualification?

Soo I'm a competitive swimmer. I've qualified for a few events at an upcoming state swim meet, including the IM. Well I was recently watching a video of my last swim meet and it turns out that I do three fly kicks per stroke in the butterfly (I'm not good at fly and back. The only reason I qualified is I don't let myself getting tired slow me down). So my mom thinks that this could possibly get me disqualified. Could it?

  • How are these swim times?

So I started swimming summer 2012. I'm a girl. This last swim meet (region) I dropped 3 seconds off of my 100 yard freestyle, and 3 seconds off of my 200 yard IM. My 100 time is now a 57.84, and my IM is about a 2.25.7

So I was wondering how these times are compared to other high school swimmers, and how they are for the amount of time I've been swimming. Thanks!

(I swim a lot more events fairly well but these are the two I'm taking to state, along with some relays, but anyway)

  • I have some questions about the website LinkedIn?

For a school assignment in my computer tech class I need to ask someone a few questions about linkedin. No name required.

    1. Why did you get linkedin and how often do you get on it now?

    2. What do you use linkedin for?

    3. What do you believe the purpose of linkedin is?

    4. What do you believe are some of the intended uses of linkedin?

    5. Are you neutral, positive, or negative towards linkedin and why?

I was supposed to ask someone I know, except I know no one on this site. Except a distant relative I've met once. It would be weird to call and ask him. But I'm going to use his name. I just need some information that doesn't come from Google. The teacher might notice...

Anyway if you could answer any of those it would be much appreciated

  • Splat hair dye. How fast will it fade on non bleached hair?

So for my swim team I am going to be dying the ends of my hair with their bright red. I already did a strip, and it came out dark red. I like it, but I'm not sure I want to keep the color forever. So I am not bleaching it, and I've never dyed my hair before. So will is slowly fade back to the original color?

  • 17 year old female highschool swimmer times?

How are my swim times? 17 year old female.?

I'm a senior in high school this year, and I joined the team my softmore year with no prior competitive swimming experience. So basically I've been doing this for less than 3 years. Anyway, I wanted to ask your opinion on my times. I don't think they're bad, but I am trying to squeak myself into 5A highschool state.

These are short course yards. Not meters.

    50 free: 27.73, I can swim a high 26 in a relay though.

100 free: 1.00.23. I hope to drop time here at region this Thursday.

    200 free: 2.11.84.

    500 free: 6.21.43

    100 breast: 1.21.53

    200 IM: 2.28.60

  • My parents want to sell my horse because my mom fell off. Help!?

So on Monday I went on a snowmobiling trip with my dad, and my mom thought it would be a great idea to go ride my horse because I couldn't go down. Well for the past 5 years I've been asking her to if she is going to ride my horse to please get some riding lessons if she was going to do so. Because she isn't your average backyard horse, she has professional training, and isn't exactly bombproof. Sweet sweet animal, but hey nobody's perfect.

Well she goes to ride. Apparently the trainer at the ranch slide stopped behind her and the horse spooked and took off at a gallop around the arena, and when she changed leads my mom came off, got a concussion, and broke her tailbone. She wasn't wearing a helmet either. Now my parents think she's a vicious beast and want to sell her.

Now, nobody except myself regularly rides that horse. I know her inside out. And since no one else really rides her, and my mom really doesn't know what she's doing, obviously she was nervous. The trainer stops behind me on a regular basis, and the horse doesn't care. She's honestly a really good horse. I can ride her bareback and bridle less. I have given riding lessons on that horse, and my trainers 8 year old kid can handle her just fine. There are a million different ways to stop her when she takes off, and if those don't work an emergency dismount isn't that hard. Also I've had her for 5 years, and I've come off a total of once. She's a good horse, Help?

  • Speedo LZR Racer Elite fit.?

So this summer I bought this techsuit. Not the LZR Racer Elite 2. The model before it. I've put on a little weight. Well regions are on Thursday, so I tried to put the suit on today to make sure that it fits. 15 minutes later I manage to get it on. Fits okay. But I'm concerned with 2 things

    1. It's really tight. The seethrough parts are really seethrough. I can see my bellybutton. .. is this a problem?

    2. There is a tiny gap on the sides by my waist. The fabric is supposed to be water resistant, so is it bad that it comes away a little? I'm swimming in the 400 free relay, 200 medley relay, freestyle, 100 free, and 200 IM. The IM concerns me the most because of the backstroke.

So, for anyone who has experience with these suits, I need help.

  • What would a psychologist look for in diagnosing depression?

This is for my psychology class. But say a patient came in, and didn't want to really admit to being sad or depressed. What signs would the psychologist look for to determine the patient was depressed?

  • Psychologist vs psychiatrist?

I have been told I am being taken to a psychologist soon. I am actually happy because I suspect I could have a depression or anxiety disorder. (I'm 16, btw) and I would like to get a diagnosis. But can a psychologist do that, or does it have to be a psychiatrist? Any information is great,

    Thanks in advance

  • I don't want to go to a psychologist?

Apparently I'm being sent to one. I don't want to go. I'm not crazy. I also don't want this stranger diving into my personal life, and telling my parents a bunch of **** about me. I feel like this is a violation of my privacy. Idk what to do.

  • My letterman jacket is to big.?

I've had it for over a year now, and it's always bothered me, but for some reason tonight I am just in tears over it. My mom when I bought it made me get the extra two inches added onto the sleeves when I bought it, and I couldn't do anything about it. Now in order to get my hands out of the sleeves I have to scrunch them up so it poofs out like a marshmellow. I also think that with the sleeves being longer it added to the overall size of the body of the jacket, so I look like I weigh 300 lbs if I button it up, even though its a small. (Btw I'm a girl) I was wondering if you think I can get it fixed, or if I should just order a new one. I just can't wear it to school. And now I'm having a breakdown of what I should do. Please help....

  • Your opinion on spurs?

So earluer today I was in the store. A little girl and her mother were walking past, well, probably an 11 year old girl, and the girl said "mom, what are those things on that lady's feet?" Gesturing to my spurs and cowboy boots. Her mother then said something along the lines of they are tools for animal cruelty.

That got me wondering what, and why, people think about spurs.

I have been riding since I was 5 or 6 years old. I am aware that not all horses need spurs. I find that horses are much more responsive when I wear them, but I use the side of my foot, or just gently use the spurs when needed. I had been riding for several years before I was introduced to them, and never have I seen a horse that has been hurt by the use of spurs.
