  • Can anti malaria medications help after infection?

I have been in an area where malaria sometimes breaks out and I was bitten perhaps 15 times in the last 5 days. Although I didn't prepare I am wondering if it's worth starting anti malaria meds to prevent a potential infection from spreading in my body. I read the parasites die of old age after about 4 weeks and the medications prevent them replicating.

  • Why do my dogs go crazy when my girlfriend is alone with them?

When I am home my 2 dogs (male aged 1 and 3 years) are quiet. They just sit in their baskets most of the time. We live in a flat and the noise of them playing bothers the neighbours downstairs so whenever the young one starts biting the older guy's legs to annoy him into playing I usually just tell him to stop it and he does. I am definitely the authority figure.

However whenever I go out, I come back and my girlfriend is a hysterical wreck. She says the younger one constantly pushes the older one around and bites his legs and is just a general pain in the ***. She's tried distracting him with training, shouting, ignoring him, being nasty to him. As soon as she sits down he just starts again. If she locks him out on the balcony where he sleeps he cries constantly to come back in and it drives her nuts. He doesn't do this with me. If he cried I would throw a glass of water on him and after a week of that he learned (yes I know I am mean). She tried the water trick and it doesn't work for her.

She tried training with treats for hours but she says she can't do that all day long. She wants a life. So what should she do?

  • Clicking in the Lumbar Spine?

I have problems in my Lumbar spine, worse the day after I have lifted something. My spine clicks when I straighten it, even if I just pull in my stomach. Before it clicks I feel something is not in the right place. Afterwards it feels right but every time it clicks I get an ache afterwards. I am worried I am doing myself permanent damage.

I know that posture is important and I work on that and do special stretches and exercises all the time. But this doesn't go away. It's been nearly a year now.

Before you tell me to go and see a doctor, I live in a country where the doctors don't speak my language and aren't much good anyway. I had a CT scan 1 year ago where they identified a compressed disk close to herniation in L5S1.

Any qualified advice would be much appreciated

  • Why does share volume rise through the years much more than market value?

For example. The S&P is now about 1000. Share volume according to yahoo finance is about 5.2 billion shares per day.

In October 1997 the dow was also 1000. But share volume was only 550 million shares per day.

That's a 10-fold difference that cannot be explained by supply and demand. Share volume always seems to trend up by a much larger percentage than market value.

    Why?
