1 AnswerTeaching9 years agorenting a room or move to 1bed apartment?
i am currently renting a room out of a house for 375 a month. i have lived there for about 2 yrs and now that i am 27 (two incomes w no kids) i have been wanting to move out to get a bigger place. i found a decent 1 bed room apartment in my price range (570 a month) and when i informed my landlords that i planned to move they offered to lower my rent to 335 a month no utilities if i would stay another 6months to a year. i only plan on living in my current city for another yr and now i am confused on the best course to take. yes i would save lots of money staying, but i only have a room and i live with a married couple in a nice house, they r nice ppl but sometimes they have fam over or get togethers on weekends and i feel awkward just roaming around the house at times. what i guess i am really asking for is for advice i need to have an answer in about 2-3 days as i already applied to a potential apt complex and i need to have a stable living situation for a yr and need to get this figured out before the end of the month. 335 w no utilities and just a room? or 570 plus utilities and more room? is the savings worth staying or should i go?
4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate10 years agoHow can i boost the wireless internet signal in my room?
i currently play ps3 online wirelessly but i often lag and get disconnected. i recently purchased a linksys router WRT54G ver.2. after days of trying frustration and searching the web i find out that a router alone wont allow me to connect to the internet, so do i need a modem too? Now here is the tricky part. I currently rent a room out of a house and the owners have internet and a modem etc but with other ppl renting rooms i seriously doubt they would want a 50ft. ethernet cable running through the house and into my room. i currently get a wireless signal and can play ps3 games online and sure the net on my laptop but the signal fades in and out without warning and it is very frustrating. the current internet that my landlords have does not require a password so all i can connect no problem, but i really want to boost the signal in my room so i can play for more than 10mins without beingn disconnected. what do i need to do/buy to make this work? can my laptop function as a modem and boost the signall to the router? i am clueless in what i should do any help would be appreciated...
2 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoIs the linksys wireless router WRT54G good for ps3 online gaming?
I just purchased a LINKSYS Wireless Router WRT54G Version 2 for use exclusively for my ps3. I currently am renting a room out of a house and I use my landlord’s wireless signal for online gaming. Some days I can play for an hr or so with no problems, others I lag big time and am getting constantly disconnected mid game which is very annoying especially when it happens in the middle of a competitive madden game... I basically have 2 questions; do I need to sign up for internet service to use my new router? Or can I simply use the same network already present (Ethernet or wireless) and boost the signal in my room w the router? Is this a decent router to use with my ps3? My laptop connects to the internet wirelessly and I never have any problems so I really want to use the router for the ps3 only but I am not very knowledgeable about internet set up...
Also I heard that it can be Flashed to a better version or something like that? I'd really appreciate any help anyone could offer or at least point me in the rite direction. Thanks!
1 AnswerPlayStation1 decade agoopening a group home?
I have worked in an all boys group home for just under 2yrs. The ages of boys range from 7yrs old to 17yrs old and there are 3 different house's owned by the company I work for for the three age groups. I do restraints, give medication, transport to school doctors appointments and take them everywhere they need to go. I make them clean up their rooms and take them on their outings when they have $$$ and also work overnights on occasion. I am wanting more out of my job (want a career) and life and I am thinking of opening a group home but I know that Licensing is a huge obstacle as there are tons of forms, housing codes, vehichle and insurance requirement as well as other thing I prob forgot about. Now on to my question, how much is needed $$$ wise to initally open a group home? I've heard I need to have at least 3 months operating cost accounted for before I can open a group home. That's approx $60,000! Needless to say I have nowhere near that amount but I'm sure there is a way since I have the will to open one. I enjoy working with kids even on the crazy days when they act out and need to be restrained or sent to juvie for their extreme behaviors. I get about 9 an hour which is not enough for wut I deal w but its how it is. Any owners or admisistrators of group homes that would like to help me out by lettin me know wut I'm in for plz feel free to help me out! And lastly I'm not in it to become a mililonare or anything but I do want to see a profit as I plan on getting married and having a family to support one day... We get about $5,500 a month per child and a lil more if they require additional. Services... We house about 4-6 per house and usually have around 5 kids per house. Considering paying employees, gas for transportation, $$$ for cloths food and housing upkeep what is the life of a group home owner like?
3 AnswersAircraft1 decade agocareer path help....?
i am 26, i have my B.A. degree in Sociology and i graduated 2 yrs ago. i am currently a Child Care Provider and i work in a all boys group home and i coach football and wrestling at the high school level. need less to say my current income is very low despite the fact that i enjoy what i do. i make about $9 an hr at the group home and receive a $1,000 stipend for coaching each season after the season is over. my student loans have began to kick in and im finding that there just isn't enough $$ left to pay all my bills (rent, car insurance, food, gas, paying off debts and student loans0 on my current income. so it is time for me to move on up to something better (more $$$) so i can get my fiances under control. what types of jobs would someone like me be good at? i live in fresno california. I am also planning on returning to school this yr after i take the CBEST & GRE so i can obtain a master degree but again i really don't know what i want to do yet. i am leaning towards a possible MFT degree, or a Social Work degree with a credential. i was thinking about trying to be a teacher but it is ridiculous what is required (added regulations and increased classes as well as a decline in teaching jobs in my area) so that kind of scared me away. I enjoy working with kids and i feel i really relate to them well so i am pretty sure that i need to focus on a career in that area as working with kids and teens seems to be one of my strengths. beyond that i need some serious advice and help on my next steps. I am the first college graduate in my family so this is all new territory for me! thanks in advance. also if anyone knows any jobs or good professions that i sound like i would fit into well feel free to let me know!
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agois it my amp or subwoofers?
i was driving home from my parents the other week and it is about a 4 hr drive. i was playing my music like always and all of a sudden all i could hear was this loud annoying static over all my speakers! i turned off my system and tried it again the next day and again everything was jus static and a loud whining noise. voulme stayed the same even when i attempted to lower it on the deck. i thought i blew all my speakers but when i disconnected my amp the interior speakers and deck worked just fine. the amp appears to be fine as i have a see through cover on it so i can see all the ciruts etc. nothing smells burn or any visable damage to resitors or the circuit board. amp still powers on but when i connect it to my sub woofers again all the speakers cut off and all i can hear is a loud static w whining noise. i looked at my subs and the rubber appears to be in tact but i did not remove my subs from the box yet.. i was thinking it was the amplifier but now im thinking maybe it is the subs? i have 2 12 800 watt dub subs and a 400 watt amplifier. i had the subwooferes bridged for more power, i have had this system for about 2 yrs and never no problems... help!
3 AnswersCar Audio1 decade agocredit limit increase and credit score increase help!?
i have 1 credit card with capital one and it is only a $500 limit. ive had this card since 2005 and have consistently paid on time and it is about to have a 0 balance and yet i never can seem to get a limit increase. i had trouble early on being young and in college i had about 5 credit card all with low balances around 200-400 each all maxed out but were paid off yrs ago and closed. is there any way i can get a limit increase on this capital one card or a bank that will allow me to get a card with a higher limit? i don't really need a high limit card for purchases as i learned my lesson from my early mistakes as a 20yr college student with no knowledge on how credit really works, my main reason for wanting 1 or 2 new cards with limits in the 2,000 -5,000 range is so that i can improve my credit rating. i currently have around $35,000 in student loan debt and only a $500 capital one credit card so my score is low (569) and one reason is due to the credit to debt ratio. i do not own a house or anything like that. im now responsible 26yr old who works 2 jobs and pays bills on time every time and my credit score has gone from 330 to 569 in about 2 yrs of diligence and paying off my debts. i would appreciate advice on what i should do about my credit limit and or credit score. i am currently enrolled in the care one debt management program for a few collections accounts i have and i am enrolled in a credit monitoring site so i can see everything on my credit. i want to be able to buy a house in a few yrs so im trying to fix my credit! thanks!

Me and my gf met in(california) undergrad and dated off and on for about 1yr. She got into med school after graduation but had to move all the way to chicago. Naturally I was happy for her but her moving away was going to be hard on both of us. We have been in an LDR for 3 yrs now and she has 2 more yrs left in school. We both really love each other and get along well but for us to be together one of us needs to relocate. Obviously she can't leave chicago and I don't expect her too. I am currently living in california still and am coaching football and wrestling at a very good high school and also work at an all boys group home at night. She wants me to move out there but I want to stay in california and continue to gain expereience since I got to work in a very good sports program and I plan on going back to school to get a masters degree this year if all works out. My question is this; is it unreasonable or unrealistic to wait another 2yrs until she graduates med school before I relocate? She has to do a residency program for another 4 yrs after med school and dosnt know where she will be so im kinda waiting until know where she will be before I move from california, my home state to be with her and get married.. Is staying her another 2 yrs a selfish move on my part? She has been dropping hints for a while about me movin there since "I'm not really doing anything there that I couldn't do in chicago".. I'm 25 and she is 23... I really would like to know other ppls opinion or advise from those in my situation. I love her and want to be with her but at the same time I'm in a great spot to gain great experience in sports which I have been apart of my whole life...

4 AnswersFinancial Aid1 decade agocoaching freshman football with no coaching experienceince... need some advice?
i am 25yrs old, recently graduated with my degree in Sociology and i have played football my entire life. i have also played baseball, wrestled and basketball but football was by far my best sport. i played 4 yrs in H.S. and 2 yrs and a junior college then received a scholarship to play at a 4 yr university for my remaining 2 yrs. now that my football career is over i am interested in teaching and coaching the sport i love, Football. i may have the opportunity to coach football at a very prestigious high school with a winning tradition, i would be the head freshman coach. I think it would be a great place to begin a possible coaching career and i do plan on getting my master's or teaching credentials soon. i am a little worried about my lack of coaching experience and i do not know exactly what to do coaching wise. i would really appreciate any type of advice regarding motivating freshman level football players, dealing with angry parents concerning their child's playing time or place on the depth chart and how to go about fund raising if needed.
8 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoBest martial art to learn for a 24 yr 6'1 220 male?
i have been wanting to learn a martial art all of my life but sports and work never allowed me to pursue this interest. i have recently finished my football career and i want to learn a martial art but i do not know which would be the most beneficial for me. i have played football for 13 yrs and i wrestled in high school for 2 yr and was pretty good. i need to learn how to fight on my feet and how to counter rather than relying on taking my opponents down ( ground is my strong point.) any advice or any martial arts or training to help is what i am looking for. i don't need to learn it for protection or anything like that i just really want to do a physical activity on a regular basis, plus the whole discipline and uniting mind body and spirit are very appealing to me. ideally i would love to live in an easter country where the arts originated and learn how to fight as well as about the cultures of other people but that would be in a perfect world.
