  • Can computer engineers make weapons?

Say if I wanted to be an engineer and design gadgets or devices that could be programmed to shoot lasers or chemicals or do other stuff used for defense could a computer engineering degree work? I know they know a little about physics and chemistry so could they build certain weapons or gadgets and program them to do certain things for defense?

  • Florida vs Georgia air?

I know these are two HOT AND HUMID states but one I like more and that's Florida. I live in Atlanta and it's hot and humid here and hard to breathe the summer is just awful. But when I took a trip to Tampa Florida and stepped out of the car the air felt SO FRESH! The air just filled my lungs and it smelled so great. Like my brain was just filled with so much energy when we got out the car. Is this because Florida is at a lower sea level and and there's more water molecules in the air? I know Florida's climate is sub tropical. We went there a couple years ago when I was still in high school it was on summer break probably sometime in June or July it was also a little rainy too. Which do you prefer Georgia air or Florida air?

  • How hard is computer engineering?

I'm 21 and did not graduate high school, I finished the 10th grade and went back and got my GED now I'm considering going to college. I've thought about a major but I'm not sure, I like chemistry and biology but I did some research and found out they do not make a lot of money with a bachelor's degree. I've heard engineers make more than enough money to live off of and I like that. I've always been obsessed with technology, I used to take apart game systems I had when I was a kid just to see what was inside of them. I like computer engineering because it deals with hardware and software and the thought of me coming up with new ideas and developing new devices just makes me ecstatic. BUT I'm not that great in math and I understand engineering requires A LOT of math. So is a major in computer engineering too hard for me? I've always liked math and it's not that I'm terrible in it but just never really applied myself in it that much in school because I wasn't focused enough on school in general but now I am. So how hard is it and for someone like me how hard would it be? Like I said I'm a critical thinker and I catch on to things quickly and love being creative and using my mind. Could I do this major if I study hard and get some serious tutoring? Thanks.

Also what's the better option? Attending a 2 year trade school or a 4 year university? I'm thinking the latter.

  • Are Ignostics atheists too?

Before you read any further...no I did not misspell agnostic, I meant Ignostic. If you don't know what the word means look it up.

It's someone who asks what is even meant by god before one provides an answer as to whether or not they believe in that god and if a coherent definition is not provided then the person renders the conversation futile since a coherent definition of god has not been presented. I think I fall under the Ignostic category but could I still be an atheist as well? Are the two mutually exclusive? Thanks.

  • Can I join the Navy special warfare/operations?

I am interested in the SWCC program, Navy EOD, Diver, and Search and rescue (Seals seems too tough for me) I'm 21 year black man, have a GED and am going to community college in a few months to get 15 college credits, I'm about 180 lbs, 5'7, have no felonies or tickets.

Am I eligible? Also I heard something that if you cracked your head open anytime in your life you couldn't join the Seals, is this true of SWCC?

When I was about 8 years old I was on a teeter totter with my cousin and she was going too fast on the other end and there was a piece missing with a little sharp point and I flew forward and hit my head on it, near my eyebrow and had to get some stitches. It's all healed up now and I haven't had any problems since then. Am I still eligible?

  • Does the Navy have weapons and hand to hand combat training programs?

I know sailors going through basic training don't get to learn hand to hand combat skills but they do learn how to use a 9mm and a 12 gauge shotgun. Is there any way a sailor can get familiar with assault rifles and other weapons and learn hand to hand combat in the NAVY besides joining the Special Warfare and Special Operations teams? Like can a sailor sign up for a program that teaches them how to shoot other guns and learn hand to hand combat? If so do they have to pay or is it free?

  • Fun free role playing games online?

I tried searching on Google but couldn't find any good ones. All I found were those stupid Chinese and Japanese role playing games with dumb plots and low graphics. I want to play something similar to Jack French and Dr. Stanley's house and the Sims, something with good graphics and a good plot to it. If you could provide any links I'd gladly appreciate it. Thanks.

  • In the military when are you required to wear your dress uniform?

When sailors, soldiers, marines and airmen come home on leave to see their families and friends do they have to wear their dress uniforms when they're out in public or can they wear what they want? Basically when are they required to wear their dress uniforms in public because the Army soldiers I've seen are always in camoflauge fatigues but I always see marines in their dress blues. What uniforms are required in what places and at what times?

  • How vast is computer science, really?

When I think of computer science I think of it as mostly coding software and learning about chips and programming. Is there more to it than that? Also what can I apply computer science to? I'm interested in gaming, simulation, biology and chemistry. Could I apply any of those to computer science?

  • Can I join the Navy with a GED?

I'm 21 and didn't finish high school and want to join the Navy to be either a SWCC, EOD tech or a diver. The last grade I graduated from was the tenth grade. I plan to go back and get my GED later this year sometime in December. After I obtain my GED I want to go join the Navy but can I join with just a GED? On their website it says you can join with either a high school diploma or GED the Air Force website says High school diploma or GED + 15 college credits. I've heard some people say that is erroneous and some say that it's true but you need to score 50 or higher on the ASVAB to get in with a GED. What do I do? Can I join with just my GED or should I go and get 15 college credits? Also I don't really have the money to go to a community college to pay for courses. Can I get some type of loan or grant? Also how hard is the Navy ASVAB? Thanks.

  • Does the Navy need computer scientists?

I want to join the US Navy and am thinking of a college major to pursue using the GI bill while I'm still in or when I get out. I'm thinking of either computer science or chemistry, mostly computer science. What kind of jobs can I expect to work in the Navy if I attain a degree in computer science and/or chemistry? Is it best to my degree still in the service or wait until my enlistment is up then go to college and re enlist again and apply my knowledge of computers?

  • Do Navy SWCC's and EOD's learn hand to hand combat?

I would think no since SWCC's fight from their boats to defend waterways and EOD's dispose of explosives but you never know. And if they do what kind of hand to hand combat do they learn? Basic? Martial arts? Killing techniques?

  • Do Navy Sailors and Air Force Airmen go to war?

When I say war I mean war like the Army and Marines. On the ground running, ducking and dodging bullets, in foxholes and shooting. Also I'm not referring to special forces, I mean enlisted Sailors and Airmen and women.

  • Do I have diabetes or a kidney infection?

I'm 21 and I have been having a few problems. I get this tingling feeling in my lower left side, a little bit above my waistline. It kinda throbs somewhat sometimes but when I have to urinate the throbbing increases if I don't go when I first feel the need too. When I drink a little water or anything I'll have to urinate right after I drink it, it comes down real fast.

I also feel very tired a lot. I go to sleep for a few hours and wake feeling refreshed for about a few minutes then my head is all sluggish again, like brain fog, feels like a rubber band is wrapped around my forehead. I can barely concentrate on things and lose focus quick.

Also I have this very weird dry feeling in my throat, like I'm dehydrated or something. I just started drinking water like two months ago. I drink a decent amount everyday and I still feel roughly the same. I feel weak and out of energy. Is this a sign of diabetes or some other illness? Kidney infection?

I had high blood pressure a few years ago and was taking pills but they took me off of my insurance because i turned 19 so I can't see the doctor anymore. I plan on joining the Navy in a year or so and I don't anything to stop me from joining. Also my lower back, right in the middle of my lower back kills me. Sometimes I can't even move hardly. What's wrong with my body? Also I was born prematurely, 1 pound and 7 ounces Idk if that has relevance but oh well. Thanks.

  • Is evolution blind and dumb or intelligent?

I find it very strange that most scientists believe evolution is a mindless, blind mechanism. I don't know that much about evolution and natural selection but I don't think it's some mindless dumb process. It gives species what they need to survive.

I was taught that what makes natural selection so nifty is that it kills off unsuccessful designs because they don't succeed and conversely, allows good designs to survive because they do succeed. Guided by this process, nature keeps itself thriving and healthy. As new conditions develop, flora and fauna are adjusted, and visa versa, in an intricate dance, the result of which is truly marvelous to behold. Just look at your garden. The human body is an excellent design of evolution. We have everything we need to survive with a few minor setbacks. We have eyes to see our surroundings, a tongue in our mouth to taste food and teeth to chew that food, a throat right underneath that to swallow the food, and a stomach with various processes and functions to digest the food, and a butt hole to poop it all out and a brain to make sure it all works.

The human body screams design but not so much as intelligent, well super intelligent. I think that whatever drives evolution it isn't totally blind but has some type of intelligence or something. Like I said we have everything we need to survive and evolution gives us that. Also how is it that we are self aware and conscious? I mean think about that for a second. You are a conscious self aware human being. You KNOW you exist. That's amazing. Whatever it is that drives evolution I think must have some sort of awareness.

I don't think it's super intelligent or that it cares about us because if it cared it wouldn't have given us wisdom teeth, bad backs, viruses and most importantly DEATH. So what do you think? Is evolution some dumb process or is it somewhat intelligent?

  • Which branch of military is best for me? Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force or Coast Guard?

I'm 21 years old and I want to join the military but I'm unsure of which branch is best for me. Main reasons I want to join are to become a better man, go to college, travel and explore the world, learn and experience new things, make a good career, get my body in shape and become healthier, learn how to fight, educate myself above and beyond and serve and protect my country. I want this to be something I can pass down to my kids and hopefully their kids as well. I want them to follow in my footsteps. I'm thinking about the Navy because I would love to be on a ship and get that experience since I've never been on a ship before I think it would be a great experience. Also since the Navy deals with ships I know they probably have a lot of technological jobs, I'm a huge science buff but my favorite subjects are mainly chemistry and biology, earth science too. I like the Navy also because they're not on the front line, I know they have the SEALS and I'm not scared of going to war, I'll go if that's what I have to do but blowing people's heads off is not on my list of reasons of why I want to join the military. If that was what I was into I'd just join the Army or Marines. LoL. But what branch is best for me? Is it the Navy? What all will I learn in the Navy? What will it be like? What kinds of benefits will I receive? Where is boot camp located?

  • Is it safe to live in Seattle?

I would love to live in Seattle, I hate the sun and love the water and mountains, fresh seafood. Fresh cool air in the winter and summer, not all humid and muggy like it is here in Atlanta but the only thing that's stopping me those damn earthquakes. I keep reading that Seattle is going to get a megaquake in the next 30-50 years. Does this claim have any credible evidence? I'm originally from Michigan and don't know the first thing about them. I know Seattle is right on a fault line but probably not the whole city. How often does Seattle get earthquakes and are they really that big of a deal? If not Seattle I'll probably move to Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago or Philadelphia.

  • Moving to Minneapolis from Atlanta?

Thinking about moving to Minneapolis from Atlanta. I hate it here. The heat and humidity is unbearable. I've heard some people say in Minneapolis it's humid as well but how bad is it compared to Atlanta? I'm originally from Lansing, Michigan and the humidity there is nothing compared to Atlanta with all the pollen and gas from cars packed on 285 makes it worse. How are Minneapolis's summers compared to Atlanta's?
