  • Excel formula question. I am having problems with adding and subtracting numbers in a complex formula.?

    Currently I have a simple formula that is subtraction =sum(A1-A2). Example 100.0 - 99.0=1.0. This corresponds with time. A reading at 8:00AM (A1) and 9:00AM (A2). My problem is I need to add more numbers into the equation. 8:00AM (A1), 8:15AM (A2), 8:30AM (A3), 8:45AM (A4), 9:00AM (A5). So it would look like 100.0 - 99.7 - 99.5 - 99.3 - 99.0. I still need the final answer to be 1.0 but doing the normal equation the answer would be -297.5. The reason why I have to have the additional times is because the number could go up (Example- 100.0 - 99.7 - 99.5 - 99.8 - 100.5 = -0.5 (the negative makes sense to me and my work.) I will never know when the numbers will be going up or down so I can not simply put a minus or addition symbol in at a certain cell. The numbers will not be put in manually. Excel will be automatically pulling these numbers at the specified times from another piece of software

  • How to average a column of cells when each column will have a different amount of cells to divide by?

    I know =sum(A1:A5) will total the cells. I know that lets say cell A6 is the total cell then A7 would be the average cell. So it would be =sum(A6/by whatever number of cells). One column might be like this: A1: 1 A2:1 A3:1 A4:0 A5:1. Total would be 4 and I need it to divide by 4 instead of 5 because A4 doesn't have a number I need. The next column might only have 2 cells with numbers in it. Is there a formula to only divide by the number of cells that have a number greater than 0. Thanks

  • Averaging a total in excel with a slight problem?

    I know that by using "=average()" I can have a cell for each day of the month and as I enter a value in each cell it will average the total of cells day to day. The problem I have is one cell contains 3 days worth of data.

    Ex. A1- 50

    A2- 50

    A3- 50

    A4- 125 (50+50+25)

    A5- 50

    The average calculates it as 50+50+50+125+50/5= 65. I need it to count the one cell as 3 entries as in 50+50+50+125+50/7=46.4. I can not enter the data in any other cell but still need to calculate like it was. Thanks ahead of time if you can figure it out.

  • In excel can you have a number and a formula in the same cell without a conflict?

    I have a sheet that looks like this

    1=2

    2=3

    3=4

    1=1

    2=2

    3=3

    1=4

    2=1

    3=2.......

    The first number and equal sign must stay but the last number will go in order 1-4. Every month the last number must be rearranged so I have 30 changes per month. I would like to just be able to add a formula that would allow me to change the first days number and then all will change. So I need something like this:

    1=1

    2=(a1+1)

    3=(a2+1)

    1=(a3+1)

    2=(a1)

    3=(a1+1)

  • Why is Romney hiding his plans?

    Last Sunday Romney hosted a private (no media) $50,000 per person fundraiser where he told his riches contributors that when elected he would eliminate the department of housing and urban development and the department of education (or at least cut funding dramatically). Why wouldn't he go public with this? I assume he knows that he would lose the majority of middle class and all lower class homeowners votes. Then he would lose votes from the educational side.

  • Movie with the biggest named cast?

    What movie do you think has the biggest cast of actors. I am considering big named actors as people that are recognizable on tv or movies. I first thought the oceans 11 series but after watching Smokin Aces, it clearly wins. Can you think of any that have more?

  • Fear of the government?

    I have a coworker that is a 63 year old extreme right wing republican. On a daily basis he advocates how the democrats are trying to ruin the country and most importantly take away our guns. He receives emails on a daily basis on what the democrats are doing and how they are taking away your rights. The majority of the emails contain no factual information and are just chain emails. The other day he showed me one on how the democrats led by obama are introducing a bill that would make guns illegal unless you paid a yearly fee, undergo a mental competency test, only allowed to have a certain amount of guns, and at any time federal agents could search your home for no reason other than you have guns. I recognized the email and explained to him that this bill was from around 2000-2001 and failed before it even got to a vote. Also that the email has been passed around every couple of years and has no truth, especially anything to do with obama. He refuses to believe me and cant figure out why I don’t fear the government. I told him that I do not fear the government because I do not give them a reason to fear me. He said that was the dumbest thing he ever heard and it makes no sense. I explained that I don’t walk around every day assuming the government is out to get me and I don’t do anything illegal so why should I fear them. He walked away saying soon I will understand when they take my guns. Do you fear the government? (I just can’t imagine a politician taking away guns since the majority of the country would just vote them out of office and veto the bill)

  • Looking for a techno/dance song from late 1999-mid 2000?

    The only lyrics in the song was "down" repeated through out the entire song. I had a roommate in 2000 that was a DJ and played this all the time
