what's the problem with x=(-3)^(2/3)?
what's the problem with x=(-3)^(2/3) ???
according toWolframAlpha:
x ≈ -1.04 + 1.8i (a complex number)
http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=%28-3%29%5E%2...
according to MS Mathematics:
x ≈ 2.08
http://www.vlaamsemolshoop.be/math/png9.png
which is aslo what I came up with myself...
(-3)^(2/3)=
cbrt((-3)^2)=
cbrt(9)=
cbrt(3^2)=
3^(2/3)≈
2.08
I must say I'm a bit confused here...
4 AnswersMathematics9 years agoimplementing LaTeX for math and physics?
When answering questions in the math- or physics-section I often need to write mathematical formulas, which is nearly impossible using this simple text-editor...
A very simple but very effective solution to this problem would be for Yahoo to implement LaTeX.
LaTeX is an easy to use, but very powerfull markup-language to generate a little image containing the desired formula and it can very easily be implemented in a website.
Does anyone know if this has already been proposed? And if so, is there a reason for Yahoo not to implement it?
2 AnswersYahoo Answers10 years agoHo do I include a link when answering a question?
I have seen answers that include links, so I know it is possible... I just don't know how.
When I copy/paste the URL, it just showes like plain text.
I already tried some BB-code-like things but it doesn't work either...
