  • Rat introduction question?

Okay, I asked a similar question a couple of days ago and got little help. My daddy rat has been living by himself for 5 weeks while the mother has been weaning the babies. I now have the mother living with the girls in a different cage now while the 5 week old males still live in the aquarium. Now, I need to introduce the daddy to his babies but Im not sure if he knows that they're his. He heard their squeekings while they were babies and he was also with the mother while she was pregnant. Is it true if he knows that they're his young, and if so would it be safe to let him see his children in the aquarium? I just wanna put him in there until he feels comfortable with them, but I if it poses a risk of one of them getting hurt I wont do it. I'll read each and every comment thoroughly, while ignoring and possibly reporting ignorant answers. Appreciate it!

  • Very stressful rat question?

So, I seperated the daddy from his babies. he's been living by himself for 5 weeks and it breaks my heart seeing him like this. I know he needs someone to live with him but he was always aggressive to the mother. He could hear his babies in the same room and he was with the mother the entire time when she was pregnant. If I put him in the aquarium with his babies will he still attack them? Also, will he attack them when i put them in his cage if they get along?

  • Rat Introduction questions?

My rat babies are 4 weeks old and the father still hasnt seen them. Im planning on putting the males in there with him, and I kept the momma in an aquarium to nurse them and whatnot (aquariums are horrible, it was a temporary thing.) So, would it be a good idea to let him go in there with all 8 babies? Will doing this for a week be a good introduction? What about when I move the babies to his cage, will he be territorial and violent? He's around 10 months old.

  • Very serious and urgent question?

It is quickly approaching the fourth week of my 8 rat babies lives. I've seperated the mother from the father and the father hasnt seen the babies. He's been with her through pregnancy though. Is it safe to put the male babies in the cage with him? Is it safer to clean out his cage completely so they're wont be any territorial issues?

  • What would you do in this situation?

Well, I come to you all with a serious problem I'm having. My female rat had babies so I separated her from the male. During her pregnancy he was always a big bully to her. Right now it's been a week keeping them apart, and I fear that my male may be very depressed. I wanna take him and see his babies once a day, but I fear his aggressive attitude will have him eat his young. So, should I go ahead and get him neutered or just take the chance of him being peaceful with his children? The preferred option would be not to put him through surgery, but waiting 4 weeks for him to have his full grown male children in the cage with him seems like he'll die of depression first. Please give me your thoughts.

  • Some pregnant rat questions?

My rat just had babies and I separated her from the daddy

    1) I've heard when the babies get 5 weeks old that to daddy will still try to eat them once he's in the cage with them. If i get him neutered, will this make him not as aggressive? I don't wanna have to get rid of the father

    2) Sometimes the mommy covers the babies with nesting and then goes off and does her thing. Is this normal and alright?

    3) I sometimes worry about ventilation where I keep her in an aquarium with her babies. Should I be worried about hot and cold?

That's all for now. I may add more later. Thank you all.

  • Is 7/16 bar spacing okay for rats?

I have some babies who are set to be put in a cage when they're ready. Is 7/16 bar spacing inescapable?

  • My rat just had babies today and I have some questions?

My rat gave birth to a litter of around 6 if im not mistaken. She's taking care of them fine. I have her separated from my male and she's in an aquarium which I know is bad but it's all i have right now.

    1) I plan on getting 2 cages, I'm keeping the daddy with the male babies and the mommy with the female babies. When should I do this? I want to avoid all possible chances of pregnancy again because I can't handle anymore so I won't to do this before any of the babies are able to reproduce.

    2) WIll the daddy eat his babies if I put the males in there when they are "fully grown" and have reproductive organs?

    3) Will keeping all the babies be okay? I'm not comfortable giving them away but I don't want any behavior or territorial problems with them

I appreciate every answer I get. I know not to trust everyone on yahoo answers so some outside sources on where you got your information would be great. Regardless, I will look up every answer and take them all into consideration.

  • Bar spacing problem with rats?

Can rats at 2 or 3 weeks of age squeeze out of a 7/16 bar spacing? How about 1/2 inch? I'm really worried.

  • Very serious questions?

I'm in a rock and a hard place right now. I'm normally never stressed, but right now I can honestly say I'm on the verge of tears. My rat is pregnant. I kept her with a male, I didn't intend to breed but oh well. I plan on either giving the male to someone else or buying a new cage to keep my males seperate from my females. Anyway, I have her in an aquarium right now because the cage has platforms and I don't wanna risk the babies falling off somehow. I have her seperated from my male, and what stressed me out is the fact that she is fat, but I don't know when exactly she'll have the babies. So, I don't wanna keep her seperated from him for a long time because I don't want her to get depressed, and vice versa with the male. Also, is it okay to have carefresh in the aquarium, along with a shoe box with one side cut so she could deliver in there? I put cardboard box and toilet paper strips in there. Should I just take all the bedding out and put paper in there? But what if she doesnt have them for a while? I'll have to keep changing stuff around. I'm really worried and I need help.

  • Can I trust my pet rat?

I let my rat out of her cage and run around my room but her often goes under things such as my entertainment center and dresser in which i could never get her out if i tried but she always leaves after rummaging for a few minutes. With this knowledge, do I need to worry about it staying under there or will it always come out? I would like to train it to come to me by my voice but idk how to do it.

  • Will my pet rat be okay?

I'll start off by saying that I love my 2 pet rats to death. I did my absolute best to provide them with proper health conditions and the loss of money was worth every penny. Right now, I'm depressed though. I was using "Arm And Hammer" pet bedding to house them. Well, I noticed the littlest one occassionally sneezing and I didn't think much of it at first. Upon further research the bedding I was using was absolutely terrible for their health. Right now, I corrected that, but my rat still sneezes every now and then. I'd say every minute or so he gets off about 3 or 4 sneezes. Should I be worried? Will it cure overtime? I've admitted my mistake, and if anything happens to my rat it will be my fault. I'll never get over the fact that I already affected his health this much.

  • What is your guilty pleasure rapper/group?

Which rapper are you ashamed to say that you actually like their music?

For me, it'll have to be OJ Da Juiceman, Gucci Mane, and Project Pat. Why I like trap music is beyond me.

  • Is my pet rat okay? I'm scared to death?

So my pet rats have been apparently play fighting overnight. I've stopped them 3 times but after that I just thought they were doing it for fun because they were cuddling with each other the night before. Well, today one of my rats look like they aren't feeling well. He is staying low, almost crawling. He isn't running away from me when I pet him anymore. His eyes are a little droopy. I don't know if I should worry or not but it's making me nervous. Please help.

  • Will my pet rat fall off my shoulder?

I just got 2 pet rats about 4 days ago and I love them both dearly. One of them likes for me to handle them while the other hasn't gotten used to me yet. I have a couple of questions.

    1) When I let the rat that is used to me and lets me hold him (Buddy) climb all over me I worry to death that he's gonna slip and fall. Should this be a worry or are the chances of him falling slim?

    2) Any tips on picking them up correctly? I don't think it's a good idea for me to just go and grab them but at the same time it's hard grab under them like some people have said. What's the best way?

    3) How can i get the rat that doesn't let me play with him (Krit) to open up his shell with me? He always hides in the poptart box that I put in the cage for almost all day.

    Thank you :)

  • My new pet rat stays in a corner?

I purchased 2 rats and put them in a large aquarium. The smallest one likes it, but the other one stays in a corner. I want them to get used to me but I don't wanna scare the one in the corner. Should I grab it and start petting it or what else would you suggest?

  • I need good backup software for my external hard drive?

I need a good free program that will basically clone my computer. I delete and update files alot and most programs I've used never seem to incorporate that in their backup process. Also, scheduling would be a good thing if the program also has that feature. Thanks and best answer goes out to whoever actually takes time to help me instead of just copy and pasting from a website.

  • My external hard drive backs up files I delete?

My computer is only 500gb and my external hard drive is 1tb. I delete and acquire new files on my computer alot. I have 127gb of space left atm but on my hard drive there is only 50gb out of 1tb left. I checked to see what files are on "My Book Essential" and there seems to be 500gigs of "additional files" on the drive, along with perfect replication of my music, movie, etc files currently changing on my computer. So, how do I solve this problem? I want my external hard drive to hold the exact files that are on my computer and throw out the additional files that I deleted and cleared from my recycle bin.
