  • How do I pay for college if I can't use a loan with interest?

I'm a girl who converted to Islam. I come from a poor Christian family who didn't save a penny for my education. I'm not an extraordinary student involved in much activities. I got a 23 on my ACT and my cumulative GPA is 2.69 I haven't stepped foot in a mosque and can't until I'm eighteen and I start college before I'm eighteen so I'm not sure how I could apply for Muslim scholarships or aid or anything. I am so disheartened and can't ask my family because they'd kick me out or something if they knew I was Muslim and I was hoping college would help me break free of their household and rules! I'm a junior, so I have time but still...

  • Is it bad to make a good job a priority when it comes to relationships?

So I've converted to Islam and have been taking my future into consideration a lot because it's right around the corner (one more year in high school and I graduate). I would like to be a stay at home mom so I can be there for my kids and make sure all of the cooking and cleaning gets done and stuff. I plan on getting a nursing or vet tech degree just in case I find myself in a situation where I have to be a breadwinner. But when I think about what I'd look for in a husband, I think he should have a good job, such as a doctor or a lawyer or an engineer because if I want to be a stay at home mom there won't be a second income so the financial suitation is kind of going to be on his shoulders. I'm not saying money is the most important thing, just that it's crucial so my kids will have a roof over their heads and food in their tummies and an education that we can help pay for. My question is, is it bad to expect my husband to have a professional career and not accept someone who may be a hard worker but no make a whole lot of money? (I'm not greedy, I promise! I just want me and my kids to be secure.) And of course, I'd consider other things, not just his job!

  • Would it be an issue for a Muslim woman to travel for work?

I've recently converted to Islam and was wondering about this. I plan on being a book author and would have to go on book tours to promote my book. I'd need a husband who supports me and would be able to look after the kids while I'm gone. I know Islam doesn't say that women can't work and has to hold the house down all the time, but would it be tolerated by like my future husband to do these things? Like, culturally speaking? I don't have anyone to ask because I live in a small redneck community and there are no Muslims to ask!

  • How do Muslims date? I hear different things?

I'm considering converting to Islam and won't be able to until I move out of my Christian home and go to college. I was just curious how Muslims date because some people at school were saying that Muslim marriages are arranged or the daughters are sold off to husbands or something like that? I was just wondering if Muslims date like non-Muslims, like going out to dinner or to see a movie? I'm not trying to sound stereotypical or anything like that, I just don't know any Muslims to ask about these things! Also, I'm a modern American woman and think women should be able to work outside the home and some people say that Muslim women can't, they HAVE to stay home and aren't allowed to attend college or anything. I don't know what's true and was wondering these things.

  • Questions about the Islam religion?

I don't know for sure yet I'm going to convert, it's just something I'm looking into. I was wondering about it and had a few questions.

    1) In Islam, is there like a second coming or anything like in Christianity? Like, a Doomsday or end of the world?

    2) What is required to be saved? In Christianity, it was to repent and ask Jesus to come into your heart.

    3) Some religions like Mormonism (and I'm not saying anything bad about Mormons or the religion, please don't take offense!) say something about Native Americans being cursed or something? Does Islam say anything like that?

4)I know this may sound like a silly or unimportant question, but I heard it was a sin to eat beef. So, like, no hamburger or steak EVER?!

    5) What are Muslim weddings like? Just out of curiosity.

I'm just curious and would like to separate facts from fiction.

  • Scholarships for illegitimate Native American?

I'll be applying for colleges this year and therefore, scholarships. I come from a poor family and was raised by my white mom. Here's the issue: my full blooded Native American father is not in my life and is not on the birth certificate. He will NEVER be on the birth certificate, although I have papers to prove his Native American ancestry. I can prove by blood I'm fifty percent Native American through a blood test, but when I look online for scholarships they want someone to be enrolled in a tribe and to be enrolled in a tribe my dad has to be on the birth certificate. I can't just put him on the birth certificate! Is there any scholarships for unenrolled Native Americans? (By the way, he's in the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma)
