  • What rights do I have as a tenant?

Landlord never cleaned or removed the carpet after the previous tenant died here. Nor did he tell us that there was a death just weeks before we moved in. What rights do we have since we had to remove the carpet where he died. It was still wet with his excrement. He was dead for three days before someone discovered he was missing. Please, if anyone has any idea about Illinois law, I am dying to know if we can get our deposit back as well as charge him for the time and labor it took to remove the soiled carpet, and break our lease. It has not been a good experience. Thank you!

  • Why won't my '93 Buick Lasabre shift into gear?

It shifts on the dash but not in the engine. If I rev the engine slowly until almost floored it will most of the time, but that must be damaging the engine. What is going on with this car? I am embarrased and would like to fix it, but I need some possibilities to check out.

  • What would you do about neighbors like this?

My neighbors across the street are a single mom and three adolescent girls. They appear to have different dads and I don't know for sure because he is never around, like the mom really. They are always unsupervised outside. Since it has gotten warmer they are outside a lot. They came and pounded on our door while eating string cheese and asked if they could mow the lawn for dough, since we have only enough to buy the gas we do it ourselves, so I said no. One time I saw the ten/eleven year old shaking her butt in the middle of the street with spike heels obviously too big for her (not the first time, others have been with "music" announcing the f word to all the infants on our block from her mom's vehicle), we caught them hangin out in the abandoned house next door, and just today my husband saw her a little before two pm walk across the street and grab a white cloth off the ground and walk towards our house and he soon discovered that she had left a bloody pair of panties in our front yard.

Who would do this? What does this say about these preteens/adolescents?

Do we call someone/ group/ organization? Do we confront her less than adequate mother? How can you force someone to parent their children so that they aren't depositing bloody panties on everyone's doorstep who can't afford to pay them to mow the lawn?

  • What is wrong with my dog...or me?

Boston Terrier, male, three years old, new to our family (we are his fourth home), and he likes to rough house. So we play with him with his rope, he likes to chase around this basketball, and play tug of war and he likes to run. We take him for walks almost every day and when we don't we play catch and run in the yard.

The problem is he gets so overzealous and gets human arms or hands or legs, whichever is involved in his play. It doesn't happen right off he just nips enough to even leave a bruise, but no puncture. What they heck is his problem? DO all dogs accidentally bite their owners or playmates? How can I STOP this serious behavior? What if he bites our two year old? How can I prevent him from getting so crazy he doesn' t even know he isn't chompin' on his toys? I have never owned a dog before, so this is really a big deal to me.

BTW he is up on his shots and we care for him very much. Please help me to be a better owner so that he can control himself and know when not to play so dang rough.

  • Does my basal body temperature indicate pregnancy if?

If it has peaked during ovulation then had two significant dips and spikes after the initial peak, does that mean I am NOT pregnant?

Wouldn't it HAVE to stay peaked for about two weeks to indicate pregnancy?

  • Is it normal for a non prego mother of a two year old to be producing clear fluid from my breasts?

I breast fed my daughter (uhtil she weened over a year ago) and just stopped taking oral contraceptives last month. We are currently using fertility awareness to prevent pregnancy. How is it that I am now producing liquid from my nips? Was it always there? Was it another detail of post feeding that the patch wiped out? Will I always produce some sort of fluid? And lastly, am I prego then?

  • What should I do since I know she is lying? My sister and I have been separated for ten years since parents D.

I was the last of three girls and chose to stay living with my mother beyond 18 yrs. (my sisters share upper and lower apt bldg now, I am married with a baby) My mother was extremely abusive and manipulating, but I loved her and I stayed to enable her to grow and develop herself into an adult. She attended college while I worked and went to school full time. She graduated and within six months got a job, so I left when I was twenty.

NOW, none of us have anything to do with her (because of the abuse and neccessity of lying and many layers of hurt). But some behavior that was learned by her influence remains in my sister. For no known reason, she lied to me about having school. I caught her in a white lie regarding her whereabouts for the evening, then I inadvertantly found out from a new mutual friend she has been lying to me. I have not told lies since I left the nasty relationship with MOTHER? HELP! What do I tell her? How can she still behave this way?

  • What are the best ways to discipline behavior of a toddler?

My 15 month old played around a huge gathering of children today at a play land type place. She soaked up information from screaming randomly at a restaurant (which she had never done before, and what do we do now?) to abruptly slamming herself on her bottom in the middle of the living room. HELP explain and offer suggestions for behavior modification of my little girl!

  • Are people seriously surprised that all the pharmeceuticals that are being consumed are in the water?

Where do people think the DRUGS go? And no we aren't talking cocaine or controlled substances. We are speaking of doctor recommended poison, you know the ones your sons and daughters are selling at school to be popular. Do individuals think that prescription drugs are safe just because it was recommended to you by a doctor? Do you think that lack of the pill you are taking is why you have the disease you are taking it for? Please answer if you are on a pharm.

I was prescribed three different meds when I gave birth to my daughter, and not a damn one of them I took. Why do others just pop them for convenience? I am very confused as to this logic. IT is frustrating, so help me understand.
