  • How to NOT feel like the third wheel at work?

I recently started working at a small family owned business. It's literally only ME, one other girl, and our male boss. Since i started they've been welcoming and such, already calling me part of the "working family" but sometimes I feel left out or like the third wheel. My female coworker has already been there 5 years and she and the boss are pretty much besties. There's no romantic anything involved, she's been with her guy for 8 years and she and the boss think of each other as brother and sister. But they'll converse about work stuff and not include me or when do they converse around me, I just stand there listening, like they're not talking TO me, I'm just there. Yes there's a sense of jealousy. I want the boss to like me too but I do also want to be included in work talks and the jokes and the laughter while also not feeling awkward because I haven't known them for 5 years. if they start talking about work stuff I'll chime in with a "Hmmm? what's going on" but feels like I'm being more nosey than anything. They know I feel like this, I mentioned it subtly but they just shake their heads like I'm being silly. So how do go about the workplace when your coworker and boss are practically best friends?

  • why did certain inventions take so long?

I like history and reading about it. and something I've wondered whIle reading my books is why certain things seemed to have taken so long to be invented or discovered. for example things relating to technology are fairly new; like radio, television, phones, even electricity for our homes. but for centuries people like Egyptians and Greeks lived without all that. sure there were basic inventions like writing tools, crafting tools, beds, weaving and then later more complex inventions like the printing press. just wondering maybe how or why humanity went centuries without everything we have now. they survived centuries without electricity and such and we've only had electricity for less than 200 years? just something I thought of and wondered about. seems like the world became innovative over night and in the late 1700s to 1800s there was just one invention after another, it's even been a huge jump in the last 50 years. example, in 2016 people definitely live differently than people did in 1966. but there was no difference between the year 1500 and 1550

  • mom died years ago, now dad is remarrying....help?

it's been 6 years since my mom passed and my dad has been with a woman for the last 3 years (she was a friend of my mom's, her and mom knew each other for years), now my dad is engaged and I'm happy for him. but recently he asked me NOT to mention my mom in anyway in front of his fiance, even if it's casual like talking about my mom's old clothes or shoes. he says it makes the fiance feel like she's moving in on territory. that bothered me and the fact that over these 6 years, he's bought all new furniture for the house and boxed everything that was my mom's and took down all her pictures and trinkets and now he's offering up for people to pick through her things. it's like he's erasing her from the house. I think there's a difference between moving on and acting like someone was never there. he doesn't even visit her grave UNLESS family is visiting and they request a visit. it's still my mom. I should be able to see a picture when I visit the house and I should be able to talk about her shoes and clothes. is this normal or anything or am I in the wrong?

  • fiance talking to ex crush...help?

we're both 23, I love my fiance to death and I trust him but I'm just massively insecure when it comes to exes and former crushes. I don't talk to any of my exes. I talk to guy friends that used to like ME but I never liked them, they're just friends. but my fiance specifically asked me months ago if I was comfortable with him talking to this former crush of his. I just said no, so he said he'd quit talking to her. well yesterday we were watching netflix on his phone and his fb messager pinged and it was her. he told m it was nothing big, they talked about her new job and her grandma being in the hospital. but me being me, got super upset and insecure. he told me he forgot that he said he wouldn't talk to her. it's unfair because he doesn't always like me talking to my guy friends because they used to like me, but then he uses that against me, like saying if I still talk to guys who used to like me then he should be able to talk to HIS ex crush. what should I do?

  • what is the form of speech used in Lord of the Rings?

One thing I noticed while watching Lord of the Rings is the form of speech the characters use is very very formal. formal like olden day but it doesn't sound like old English or the Medieval Times, during King Henry the 8th and the way he spoke but it definitely sounds olden day. the books were published late 1900's and no one really spoke that way in the 1900s, just very poetic and with somewhat confusing hyperboles. Like "the way is shut" on the entrance of the mountain and the way gandalf speaks is very formal. Just wondering if that form of speech really has a name at all or did Tolkien ever explain why he wrote the story with the story with the characters speaking in such a way? I've watched movies and shows with old fashioned monologue, like The Tudors, Reign, BBCs Robin Hood and quotes from LOTR just sound so much more formal and complex. And no I'm not talking about the made up languages used in the film.

  • Why did it take humans so long to advance?

For millenniums humans seemed to have lived the same way, without electricity or running water or anything of the advances we have now. technology and machinery is very new but why did it take so long to create these things? Did we have the materials way back when but not the knowledge? And where did the knowledge come from? Like 1000 years ago I would've lived the same as 500 years ago. It just amazes me how we lived for so long without all these advancements

  • Do Indians believe in marrying strictly other Indians?

And by Indians I do mean people from India, I would assume in India it is expected but I'm talking mostly here in America. Do Indians in America believe in only marrying other Indians. I wonder because I was watching an episode of Degrassi and there are Indian characters named Sav and Alli and their parents expect them to marry people "like them". Is it not so common here in America since races are so diverse here in America?

  • HELP I m struggling with coworkers..?

I m 23 and no matter where I work or what I do I CAN T get along with coworkers, more specifically female coworkers. I try to keep to myself, I try to be nice, I try not to ruffle feathers in the workplace but something always happens for the worst. Like when I m the newbie girls will try to get me fired. That s why I try to be nice, why hate someone who is nice but people tell me that makes me look weak and that I have to act like a ***** so I don t get walked on. Even my fiance knows I don t really have "lady balls" but like I said I hate causing rifts at work but being nice isn t helping. It puts me in people s crosshairs. I ve been at my current workplace for 2 months and already a girl I ve never worked with before got scheduled with me and she ratted me out to the boss for a minor misdemeanor but she s the only one. Then I realized no matter how nice you are some people will still turn on you

  • why did the writers of Yugioh change the Priest Seto plot?

in the episode The Past is Present Seto travels to the domino museum and there Ishizu shows him images of his past as a SORCERER and the pharaoh's enemy but then in later series, when the gang is teleported to Egypt, Seto's past life is known as priest seto and not only is he dressed differently and has darker skin tone, he's not the pharaoh's enemy and not the sorcerer. so why did they change the plot in later seasons? also why did they totally create the characters differently than in ishizu's vision during The Past is Present

  • What to do when coworker is trying to get you fired?

I've been working at a daycare for only 2 weeks. I got called into my boss's office today and she explained to me that our adult supervisor Tina (who is like the boss when our real boss isn't around) has reported me being on my phone a couple times and claimed I'm not interacting with the kids. My boss said she wanted to let me go but I argued my case that I wasn't interactive with the kids only on like 2-3 days I wasn't feeling well and I've been caught with my phone like 2-3 times. But I thought this totally unfair, I've only been at this job 2 weeks and Tina is telling our boss of like the only 2 days I was off my game, but other than that I've been playing board games with the kids or pushing them on the swings when we go outside. I convinced my boss to let me stay and I'll improve but how do I deal with Tina? Approach her or leave the sitch alone? Tina had asked me to put my phone away but she never asked me to interact with the kids more, I thought I was fine sitting at the tables and keeping and eye on them. The thing is the 2 other new employees are just as guilty, there's times they're sitting around talking to just each other and not working or playing with the kids, so why am I the target?

  • i don't totally understand God's view on divorce...can someone help me?

i know it says in the Bible that God hates divorce and to get a divorce is a sin, but God also has a plan for all of us and i've seen the lives of some Christians include divorce, so that does mean that was GOD'S plan? or human's?

also in the Bible it says that if a branch is no longer bearing fruit, it's cast away and burned, so i believe God basically purges our lives of those no longer "bearing fruit", ie if my hypothetical husband were no longer bearing fruit towards me or towards God, he would be purged from my life and we'd get a divorce, is that right at all? divorce and God's plan just confuse me, like they contradict eachother. God has a plan and someone special meant for us but he'll also purge our lives and remove bad people from our lives, so is divorce God's plan at all?

like for example my ex, he said that two people who God had NOT planned to be together CAN get married and God will acknowledge their marriage and bless it but at the same time that's like saying those two were not God's plan, so doesnt that mean God will intervene and reinforce his plan?

  • trouble with ex boyfriend and his best friend...help?

i'm def struggling in the category of boys right now, for one thing, my recently divorced crush decided it's best we stay friends which i've begun to be ok with, it's hard but i'm doing it. he made the decision for us to be friends but i dont think he's acting like one. he'll text up his guy friends when he's bored at home, ask what theyre up to and wanna hang out or whatever, he wont do that with me. so far, he has NOT reached out to me as a friend, i've given him space and not texted and still he hasnt. we did hang last night but it felt a little uncomfortable, like there's still tension.

and today i wanted to hang with my crush's best friend, who is also my friend, made plans earlier but then he told me "me and (insert crush name) are headed out again, we'll be back tonight." and my first reaction was "what the h*ll". i was left wondering why he bailed, where theyre at (cause why are they gonna be back TONIGHT) and whatnot. i've got my crush who friendzoned me not really acting like a friend and now i'm jealous those two are hanging out and seemingly bailing on me.

  • My girlfriend leaves during FOREPLAY...why?

This isn t Maple, this is her brother. i knew my sister had an account so i m using it for this question about my girlfriend.

i m confused about this, pretty much EVERY time before she and i have sex, my girlfriend will engage in foreply at first but then she ll go to the bathroom and take like 15 minutes to wash off all her makeup, let her hair down and change into baggy pajamas. it frustrates me cause she gets me worked up from foreplay and then leaves but also makes me mad cause i like seeing her dolled up from the day s work, she s a stylist so she s almost always dolled up. but i love seeing her with and without makeup, but sometimes i wanna "have fun" while she s still all cutesy, in her boho outfits and curled hair and whatnot. yet everytime she ll go to the bathroom and take everything off and put on some oversize tshirt. any reason why she does this?

  • How to stop being co-dependent on my boyfriend?

this is something i realized on my own, my boyfriend didnt tell me i was being codependent emotional or otherwise, but we have had talks where he said i can be a little clingy and needy and monday night he mentioned i over analyze and over think small things, like one night where he just didnt feel like cuddling on the couch. articles about overanalzying helped me to find articles about being codependent and i realized thats what i am and i think it's good it was a self realization but how do i stop it? i'm 22 and looking at my boyfriend as a man i COULD marry someday, nothing is official but he possesses qualities of a man i could see myself marrying, but i dont want to ruin things for us in the dating stage by being needy and clingy and emotionally codependent, how can i learn to stop caring about the "little things", ie needing compliments and texts and affection etc and just go with the flow? the last thing i want to be someday is needy WIFE

  • How can I stop over analyzing my boyfriend's behavior?

I am terrible when it comes to controlling my anxiety and neurosis. I freak out over small things and get worked up, in this case it was cause my boyfriend WASNT being cuddly with me while watching a movie last night BUT the ENTIRE week before, he was cuddly every time we watched a movie. I'm a routine type of girl, if I get used to my bf doing something for awhile and then he stops doing it, I get worried. He told me not to and to stop over analyzing and that sometimes he doesn't feel like cuddling but he was cuddling this entire week before, every night we watched a film. I know it's buggin him and the last thing I wanna do is push him away. But when he breaks routine i get scared, example if a guy does something sweet for 3 weeks straight and then suddenly stops, would you be worried? Or think nothing of it.

  • How long would you fight to get back an estranged spouse?

The guy I m referring to who is also my crush was talking about that last night. He s super serious when it comes to relationships, he married young and his wife separated from him December 2013 and divorced him October 2014. But he was telling me if she hadn t gotten the divorce papers, he d STILL be fighting to get her back. He says "I made a vow, for better or worse" also divorce is a sin for both of us.

I understand commitment and not backing out of a marriage just cause things get a little rocky but he said even if they d been separated for 2 years he d still be fighting to get her back. I don t understand that, if my husband left me I don t think I d wait 2 years for him, if he needs 2 years to decide if he wants to stay married to me than he shouldn t have married me in the first place. And these two got divorced by decision of the wife, she was still in love with her ex, the very ex she was HOPING to get over by getting married to my (now) crush.

  • What is the christian viewpoint on sex jokes?

My bf and I are both Christians and while we were listing the basics of what we want in future mates and such and when I noted I still felt like I'd be good for him he said there's some things I do that make him question if I am right for him. And when I asked what those things are he noted that it's the sex jokes I make. I don't make simple "that's what she said" jokes I can make some crass jokes. NEVER AT INNAPROPRIATE TIMES THOUGH. I don't make jokes at church or in front of parents, it's always just when we're alone or with good friends.

But I think that's unfair. Sex jokes don't determine what kind of wife I'll be, likewise him and his buddies are free to make jokes so why can't i? Sometimes I look at it like it's unfair to judge me just based off something verbal but then I think maybe that's one of his standards and we all have those. Is this unfair?
