  • If I do janitorial, what mileage can I deduct?

I have a small janitorial business on the side with just one client. My home (home office) is about 5 miles from work. There are two offices I clean, about half a mile from each other. So each time I clean I drive from home to work (4.5 miles) to the first office, then to the next office (0.6 miles) and then home (5 miles). How much of this can I deduct on my taxes?

  • Do I have to pay estimated tax?

I've just been reading through the 2012 Estimated Tax Worksheet and trying to make sense of it. I have a cleaning business on the side with only one client. My total gross income for the year should be somewhere around 14,400 (actually less since that's an estimate for a full year but I didn't start in January). Will I need to pay an estimated tax? The instructions SEEM to say that as a married person filing jointly my standard deduction is 11900 and my personal exemption is 3800 which, when subtracted from my gross income, comes to a negative value. Any guidance is appreciated.

  • Will (or when will) I have to pay capital gains taxes in Georgia?

I bought my house in Georgia in January of 2005. In 2008 I moved out of state and in July/August of 2008 I started renting the house to someone. If I sell now, will I have to pay capital gains? And if not, will I have to if I wait to sell? I seem to remember learning at some point that you have to pay capital gains after 5 years but not sure if that is/was true.

  • What mileage do I count on my taxes?

I started a small janitorial business this year. I'm trying to figure out how to track mileage. My "office" is out of my home, and I drive to the jobs. My question is, do I count only the mileage TO the job, or do I count both the drive to and the return mileage back to my home?

  • Which ballet shoes should I buy for my fiance?

My fiance has never done ballet in her life, but signed up for an adult's beginner class at a local dance studio. I'd like to surprise her with some shoes for it but have no idea what to get. I don't know how long she'll stick with it (she pre-paid for 10 classes) but I'd like to support her. Suggestions?

  • Where can we play evening football in Tacoma?

Me and some friends have been playing football after work on Mondays. We'd like do continue but it's getting dark so early. Are there any fields in Tacoma that are lit where people can drop in, or even where we could pay to have lights turned on? Or indoor fields?

  • Which is the better cruise, Carnival, Norwegian or Royal Caribbean?

Planning to take a cruise for our honeymoon. I've only ever done one cruise which was on Norwegian and it was great, all inclusive (except alcohol) and a great atmosphere. Does anyone have experience with the other cruise lines to give me a comparison between them?

  • Best Honeymoon Deal Leaving From Seattle?

My fiancee and I are getting married this winter in the Seattle area. We'd like to do an approximately week-long honeymoon after. We're open to most everything, whether it be a tropical cruise or a snowboarding excursion. Ideally I'd like to pay no more than $1000 for everything (travel + lodging for two). Anyone have any good ideas for great deals or hidden gems? I've been checking out different sites but haven't found anything that just lets you see all packages that leave from a certain place, they all want you to search by destination and there are too many choices!

  • How to mend or repair old pulp magazines?

I just got a large collection of vintage sci-fi pulp magazines out of storage. A lot were in pretty rough shape to begin with (some are as old as from the 1940's) and some received some insect damage in storage. I'm not so much looking to resell them, but I'd like to get them in a condition where I can read them without all the pages falling out in my hands. Are there any suggestions for taping or gluing the damaged spines and loose pages/covers?

  • Does it matter who files for divorce?

My wife and I are separated and have been dealing with each other amicably regarding money. We have several debts and I have been paying them and she provides me with her half of what we owe. I had hoped we could reconcile but she has no interest. I would like to move forward with a divorce, however my wife is actually a paralegal for a high power law firm and will likely receive free representation. If things continue as they have thus far and we can continue to stick to the agreement we've made, I'm hoping lawyers will not be necessary. What I'm wondering is, is there any advantage to me filing first and serving papers, or should I just notify her that I would like to proceed with the process, since she already has access to all necessary forms, etc.?

  • Is it okay to snowboard with Ace bandages?

I have bad knees, probably resulting from scoliosis. Any sports activities tend to aggravate my knees. I was wondering if anyone has tried, or knows if it's okay, snowboarding wearing Ace (or similar) knee brace bandages. Would this lessen the chance of aggravating my knees from all the bending and twisting? I have snowboarded a few times in the past, so I'd consider myself of intermediate skill.

  • Receiving 404 Error from all Google sites?

On a fairly regular basis (a few times a week) my work computer suddenly starts serving up 404 Errors when I try to access any Google site (search, mail, etc.). It does this from any browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE). Usually a modem/router reboot are needed to fix the problem. Any idea what is causing this? I'm finding bupkis when I search for this problem online.

  • Why is my reaction to sunburn more adverse than it is to others?

Ever since I was little I've had what seem to be extreme reactions to sunburn. Where most people may get a little sting from a mild sunburn, I get an almost unbearably painful itching sensation. I know there are sun allergies, but I'm only affected when burnt. However it doesn't have to be a severe burn for this to occur and it seems to go on even after the burn has visibly faded.

  • MS Word 2003 Opens With Left Margin Cut Off?

I recently edited a Word document with Open Office and then re-saved it in Open Office with a .doc extension. Now when I open the file in Word and view it in Web or Normal the document has about 1" cut off on the left side. If you view it in the Reading layout it looks fine. The left margin is set at 0 and the right is at 7. I have other documents set similarly that open fine.
