I am "computer illiterate" so bear with me when I "screw up"....smiling. I am into history, antiques, and music. I am also into "learning" in general, though I have never been to college. I sure would like to someday............
Who are all the scary folk in the chat rooms on Yahoo?
Seriously. Is it just Yahoo chat rooms...or all of them everywhere? Is it really that hard to police a chat room on the internet? I simply do not understand. Fill me in.
2 AnswersOther - Yahoo Products9 years agoDoes any internet venue support a personal page unfettered by games and apps?
Facebook is a nightmare of game requests, applications, and notifications. Is there a simpler and more secure venue? All of this plowing of fields and poking this friend or that is very irritating. I don't need 600 friends. The 20 or so friends I do have irritate me quite enough as it is. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
1 AnswerProgramming & Design9 years agoAre you an experienced air-traveler? Help the "rookie"!?
I will be on a short domestic American flight, one "carry-on", and one connecting flight. Do I really have to wear a sweat-suit and flip-flops in order to get through security successfully? Taking my very first flight tomorrow, and would prefer to skip the "cavity search" if at all possible! I have consulted the TSA website as to all the prohibited items but they do not tell you certain things. Like medications. Can you bring "gel-cap cold-medicine" as long as the carton is not opened for instance, or do prescription medications delay the security screening process? Help! I want to wear my jeans and my boots (they do zip up...no sweat!)
1 AnswerAir Travel1 decade agoMom needs a cordless hand-held vacuum to solve her pet hair woes. Any advice greatly appreciated.?
Looking for a unit that will hold a decent charge and has the power to remove the pet hair from furniture. Ease of use will be a big plus. Thanks to all in advance for your input!

Jesus H. Christ, I find myself living in the hometown of a Medal of Honor recipient who (by some odd twist of fate) distinguished himself during a battle where my own Father was among the very few who survived, and yet if I mention the name of this hometown hero? All I get is this blank look..."Who the hell is she talking about? Say...didn't he build that bullshit little park up the street?"
I need help, we got a whole new crew of heros coming. How do I face that without losing what is left of my mind?
3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoMy friend's 3 year old computer has speakers, but no mike. Somehow this makes her unable to hear anything. Why?

3 AnswersAdd-ons1 decade agoIs there a criminal attorney in the house?
Defendant is 70, with some felony priors dating back decades. Driven to desperation he stole a ladies credit card. She left it in the ATM, the opportunity presented itself. What he did was horrible enough indeed, even if he did not physically take the card from her.
He is at this moment expecting the law to show up because they have him on camera taking the card, and using it to purchase gas. He does not plan to fight the charges.
What might he expect to happen and when?
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoCalling all computer techs! I have a ridiculously simple inquiry!?
I need to purchase a tower for my uncle. I have gone to Tiger Direct but am overwhelmed. He has everything else...monitor...keyboard...modem...but I need to get him the "brains" if you will. His needs are simple, he just needs to be able to get online as he is a "shut in" and is elderly. Just recently he lost his access to TV but my nephew has promised to help get him on-line if i get the tower. Any help greatly appreciated!
4 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoOk folks, let me hear all of your wisdom concerning the relief of chronic muscle and joint pain.?
As a factory worker I am constantly pushing my limits physically. I know that eventually I will adjust (the body being marvelously adaptable to most any stress). I have been taking hot baths and sipping some brandy. Aspercreme...Aleve....but by Friday I am useless. My hands are swollen and do not obey me, and the rest of me feels battered and bruised.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
6 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoI would like to buy old man Smoke a better gaming system than the playstation one he now has.?
He is forever telling me that he does not want one. He is likely concerned about the cost of the individual games. (He is worried that I might spend too much) Based on this situation, what sort of game system should I look into? (He is easily amused by the way, and does not require anything too "complex."
HELP!
2 AnswersPlayStation1 decade agoYou reckon Ronald Gray will smile on his way to his own execution, as he did during his trial?
I do not recall the name of the victim that he left for us to smell all summer long outside the fence on Ft. Bragg, but I remember the name of the name of the checker cab driver. Her name was Ruggles. I drove past that cab around about 5am.... saw it in the woods off of "No Name Road". Get some Ron!
1 AnswerCurrent Events1 decade agoWhere does one go for occupational injury advice. I need help fast to help me keep going. ?
Last week I should have seen a Doc, but worried that he might "restrict me" which would put more of a burden on my co-workers. ( It also snowed the day I was to try to go in.) Now I am hanging my head...the Doc visit may be my best bet. You reckon the Doc could give me solid advice to keep me working effectively...but minimize the pain? Any input or websites to advise me would be enormously helpful.
2 AnswersInjuries1 decade agoI have achieved failure for the first time in my life.?
I work in a factory and this new machine has me in such pain. Never have I given up or let anything get the best of me. (I am not 20 yrs old anymore, I reckon.)
It is either "fess-up" or wind up in the ER.

In other words, is it possible for another person to try to use the name of your pet (for instance) to try to "hack" your computer? I am not very knowledgeable about such things. Thank you.

1 AnswerOther - Yahoo Products1 decade agoI hit my knee at work. After the intial pain abated I was fine really. Next day, still fine. Some pain not bad
Following day, still fine but some occassional pain. The day after that it swells up horribly. Still not terribly painful unless I try to push something heavy. Why so long for the symptoms to show?
1 AnswerPain & Pain Management1 decade agoMy elderly friend has very poor vision so how can I help him?
He lives out of state and I sent him some gravy mix. Thing is...how is he going to be able to see the water line on your average measuring cup? I sent him the directions via IM with a very large font that he can print out and keep. The gravy mix is white by the way..so adding a bit of food-coloring is not an option. Any ideas?
