No religious but still consider myself a light witch. Get this straight that I am not one of those Wicca people or a pagan...at least what people think of the word. I have always been a natural advice giver, although as a child it was easier to know what to say. Now my mind is based on my feelings and societies standards...though I still try to be more like my childhood self. But then I have to account for what society would think too... I lived a nasty life, a hard one. But I have worked hard and now I am happy with the love of my life and our upcoming baby.
What book is this?
When I was in school I read a book, but cannot remember the name.
Ok basically it is about a girl who lives as a slave in a workshop with other kids. If they try to escape they age fast and die within seconds of leaving the building( a boy with wings tries to fly away and ages to dust seconds after flying out the window).
One day one of the older boys wants to try a spell to kill the boss, but they need a part of him so the girl sneaks into the office for the boss's nail-clippings in the trash. She gets caught in the office and is sent to wait for her punishment in an empty room. while waiting the girl is so scared that when she feels something running down her leg she assumed she pissed herself. (she got her period)
When the boss comes back he smiles at her and says he has a new job for her since the magic that holds the kids there only works before puberty he sells the kids who hit puberty... she gets sold to an old man who is... lost in his mind. She just dresses as a child and plays with toys in front of him then at the end of the day she goes back to the workhouse. A bunch of stuff happens and this broken mechanical dragon rescues her if she promises to fix him. She does and he rescues and protects her after a few years he ditches her because she neglects to fix him as promised.
Does this story ring a bell?
1 AnswerBooks & Authors7 years agoI am unsure of what to do? Any advice?
We have three cats, the two oldest are over 7 and our youngest is 3. We have a 4.5 month old son. Since he was born we never had any incidents with our baby concerning the cats. Our son HATES tummy time so as soon as he was grown enough we started putting him in a baby jumper/bouncer. But as he is now almost 5 months we thought we would try tummy time again...So he can learn to crawl. He was on his tummy for a record time of 4 minutes before he started crying... and for some reason the sound of his cry drove our youngest cat into an aggressive frenzy... She ran at him spitting and growling I shoved he hard three times,
as she was low to the ground and if I stood from my sitting position on the floor I would not be fast enough to stop her attacking so all I could do was continue to push her. My husband ran from the bathroom as fast as he could and shoved her into a cat carrier we put aside for when she gets too hyper ( she runs around jumping off things... and sometimes us).
I let her out as soon as our son was safely in his chair. She has been protective of our son up til the incident today... Even the others were riled up but they just stared at him with big attentive eyes.
Why do you think our one protective cat suddenly attacked our son, he has cried many times at his previous tummy time attempts so why now. Any Ideas. As he is never far from us and we jump to him when he cries (unless he is sleeping them we count to 30), we can guarantee his safety. what I am wondering is theory's as to why she would suddenly attack our son after so long. When he cried in the past she would bug me if I took too long to respond. He cried about an hour after the incident because he was tired she was fine with it that time but just that one cry drove her mad...
3 AnswersCats7 years agoWatched this movie years ago, forgot what it is called, can someone help me?
All I remember about the movie is it is an underground international fight tournament. Where fighters from around the world gather to see who is the best. One of the fights is with a Spanish guy who fights with his legs. Something bad happens to the losers... forgot what it was... to get to the sign-up they all have to climb this really big tower without walls. Just a bunch of beams and bars.
3 AnswersMovies8 years agoWhat songs are best for a baby shower?
We are planning our own Baby Shower ( I know that is not what you usually do) and we need songs to play in the background.
So far we have:
Book of Days- ENYA
The voice- CELTIC WOMAN
Fly to your heart, Naturally-SELENA GOMEZ
All Souls Night, Wiccan Dance,
Huron"Beltane" Fire Dance- LOREENA McKENNITT
Let Your Heart Sing-KATHARINE McPHEE
How to Believe- BRIDGIT MENDLER
You can be the one - LATE NIGHT ALUMNI
If anyone has any ideas please keep in mind NO COUNTRY OR ROCK... or any form of METAL. If you need to listen to the songs on You-tube to get an idea of what to listen for :)
We are stuck on songs so input on any more songs would be welcome.
2 AnswersLyrics8 years agoWill Thrush make labor more painful?
I am 70% sure I have Thrush. At our next appointment, not sure when it is since I am being transferred over to a prenatal clinic by our doctor, we will be asking about treatments. I only have two symptoms so that is why I am not completely sure, what I would like to know is
Does thrush make labor more painful???
TMI alert:
Even when my husband gets me wet down there by stimulation, so much so that normally there is no friction during sex... it still hurts like a B.
So would Thrush make labor more painful???
Symptoms: Lumpy, thick discharge
Painful sex
Discharge is not odorous, is white not an off color, no streaks... no signs that it is an infection...So I am sure it is Thrush.
3 AnswersPregnancy8 years agoWhat is your opinion on the law against corporal punishment?
OK so in an attempt to lessen child abuse, the government of Canada passed a law forbidding corporal punishment in any form. They have made it impossible to discipline your child.
Time out-
Emotional Abandonment
Taking away there toys or games-
Mental abuse
Spankings-
Emotional, mental, and physical abuse.
Silent treatment-
Neglect
Letting your kid scream and cry(tantrum)-
Self inflicted harm
Sending them to their room-
Emotional abuse ( they claim kids feel like you are dismissing them )
Those are just a few...
Honestly I was borderline beaten whenever I misbehaved in the slightest and I turned out OK, with a health respect for authority.
I think what the gov should have done would have been to look at discipline and how best to us it then create a mandatory class for parents so that they can learn what is OK and what is not.
I have a friend who had a 1 year old son (he 2.5yo now) they kept taking him away from the hot BBQ, but he kept going back first chance he got. This kid was able to climb his crib bars using his feet like a little monkey. and had amazing upper body strength for his age, so putting him in a playpen was out of the question...
They ran for him and told him no so many times within an hour that is was ridiculous... On the last attempt he managed to worm his way over by playing with his toys in a sneaky manor, we thought he had given up since he didn't even look at the BBQ. If his father had not come out the door when he did their son would have been badly burned. Since he was about to put his finger in the hole meant for venting heat, RIGHT BESIDE THE FLAMES. We would have both been micro seconds to late to stop him. He got a sharp stinging SMACK on the back of his hand. The pain lasted seconds and he has never attempted to touch the BBQ again.
So a momentary pain vs pain from burns....
Either way you are abusing your kid or neglecting them.
6 AnswersParenting8 years agoIs it normal for it to hurt? Or should I see a doctor?
I am 24-25 weeks pregnant and sometimes my son will feel like he is doing martial arts as apposed to the normal kicks and somersaults I get... After the martial arts thing I start feeling massive pain in my frontal abdomen. It feels like I am being stretched out and my abdomen is hard as a rock, with the hour after I always have worse or new stretch marks. I am really sure that those are growing pains since they happen every week for the past two weeks.
But is it supposed to HURT??? I will be asking my doctor anyways, but I am really worried that it is not normal,
I would go to the hospital and get it checked but the nurses will just end up sending me home if I am not bleeding...
Our hospital is terrible. I went in for dehydration last month and the nurse was not really going to let me stay... as she told me to either wait in the waiting area till it gets worse or go home and wait til it gets worse one of the few good doctors passed by and checked me out. He ended up having to give me two IV's to hydrate me... it was that bad.
So I don't want to deal with that stress. So if anyone knows if the growing pains hurting being normal or not please comment.
The pain usually lasts minimum 5 minutes- maximum 13 minutes.
1 AnswerPregnancy8 years agoWhat should I do? Need opinions not advice.?
I am now 25 weeks pregnant, and a week ago a cab lady pointed out to us that we only have 16 weeks left... Since then my Husband seems to be more distant, and avoids any baby topics by changing the subject to one of his hobbies. Whenever I let him know that that hurts me he basically grovels and starts kissing the baby belly and won't stop apologizing. Problem with that is it is not only annoying but no matter my reaction be it anger, sorrow, or forgiveness he goes right back to avoiding the looming pregnancy. It was a huge tiring chore to get him involved on the birth planning.
All this plus the looming birth has made my forever long depression worse... It got better when we found out we are expecting, we became closer than ever, if that is possible but,
I have been depressed since before I can remember, medications never had an effect so I was taken off them. And therapy is a waste since there is no way to remember what caused the initial depression in the first place, so it came down to strength of my own will to keep it at bay. But I sometimes slip when something bad happens that adds to the depression. And I become lost... and hollow.
So I am wondering if I should let go... Let the slip happen and hope it snaps my husband out of whatever he is doing, because talking to him doesn't help. I am basically alone with my fears about the birth and worries about the baby's health. I have Agliophobia so the impending birth terrifies me, I either don't sleep or I can't stop sleeping.
I am not suicidal, and with my phobia I seriously doubt I ever will be, my slips only last a few days so there is no worry I will not pull out of the hollowness, of being lost.
Should I let myself slip, and see if he reacts to me the same way he used to. And hope that when I regain control he won't revert back to avoiding the pregnancy... Or just keep going the way we are and let my fears quite possibly take over...
5 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting8 years agoWhat movie is this I liked it but cannot remember it?
I watched a movie years ago, but I don't remember the title.
A woman hears voices but decides to ignore them and takes medication to stop them. Meanwhile her twin sister also has the voices but instead locks herself up in an asylum. She commits suicide and her sister becomes the target of demons and a crazy angel named Micheal. It turns out that she and her sister where mediums for the son of Satan's birth. At the end of the movie Satan stops the crazy angel from using the spear that pierced Jesus to complete the ritual.
2 AnswersMovies8 years agoIs it possible that I may not bond at birth?
I am just over 20 weeks and I can feel the baby kicking and somersaulting... the somersaults are fine I love to feel those... but the kicks Really bug me... I hate the feel of being hit and the kicks feel like I am being hit... I am worried that I might be one of those mothers who do not bond instantly at birth... Is it possible that my dislike of the kicks might be a sign that I may not bond right away??
Or is it just my issues from childhood bleeding into my pregnancy and I am worried about nothing?
Childhood issues.
Ever since I was a kid all I wanted was to have my own family... weird I know. My foster mother never let me have dolls due to the fact she thought that my pretending to be a mom to the doll instead of playing with other kids was unhealthy... She is also the reason I hate being hit. She was really strict, if I mispronounced a word she would hit me... well she hit me for lots of small things...
I think I mothered the dolls because I felt neglected, I would imagine them being bad and I would give them timeouts instead of hitting them...
And do not tell my to get help or see a therapist. Been there done that. My husband says I am worrying over nothing. But I am still fearful that I might not bond...
3 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting8 years agoIs it wrong that I am feeling this way about pregnant?
I am pregnant. Is it wrong that I feel that it is Immoral to have sex? It just bothers me that the baby is so close... kinda like having sex with a child in the room... My poor fiance is going crazy I do other things but he wants sex... he understands what I am feeling but when he gets riled up he kinda forgets and I feel bad that I have to tell him no.
What I am asking is not sex advice! What I am asking is, is it wrong to feel that is is wrong to have sex while pregnant due to the baby being so close?
2 AnswersPregnancy8 years agoWhat exactly does reasonable cleanliness mean?
I was just curious and spent 2 hours searching the web, but with no success. What exactly does it mean to have a reasonably clean home? My place is cluttered but clean( by the definition of the word) and it is also sanitary as I wipe everything with Lysol Wipes since being pregnant has made me into a germ freak( I carry sanitary wipes in case I need to use a bathroom outside my home)
So even if my place is messy and unorganized ( we are in the middle of packing) as long as it is clean and sanitary that is enough correct?
I decided to look up reasonable cleanliness since we got new landlords who are targeting us since they don't like us. And on the eviction notice( which the Landlord and Tenant Board told us to fight) one of the things listed was a breach of Good and Proper Care of the Unit, we got permission from our previous landlord to hang wall decor like pictures and mirrors on the walls when we signed our lease 3 weeks before we got new tenants so they can try to get us on that but will fail, but the section of the Proper care of unit they are talking about might be the lack of reasonable cleanliness.
Legally is a cluttered home considered a breach of reasonable cleanliness? We are fighting the eviction and want to be sure that clutter does not count as filth. Since the rest of the terms of our eviction will not stand up in court. We want to be sure about the cleanliness.
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics8 years agoIs the name we have chosen for a boy OK?
We are NOT religious! But we love the name Lucifer. It means light bringer or bringer of light, We want our child to aspire to be a person who brings light to peoples lives.
So what I am asking is your personal opinion of the name.
And please don't start spouting bible verses at me or I will flag your post.
We are not religious we just like the name and what it means.

3 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting9 years agoA friend of mine is having job issues, can anyone help out?
She works at a "fast food" stall, the business is not fast food but it has a stall at a mall food court. The main branches are restaurants. The boss is a very understanding person, but his daughter is very high maintenance and she makes the schedules and is second in command. She always is telling people when they work then posting up something else on the schedule. When everyone makes a complaint she gives an excuse. Then if her father finds out he has a talk with her. She then takes out her anger on the employees. My friend has noticed that the schedule is ALWAYS in the high-horse's favor. She almost never works a rush shift. And she uses her son as an excuse to needing those hours off. My friend is a mother of two little ones and told her boss she cannot work before 4 pm since her grandma can no longer watch her son, since he is too much to handle alone. And the baby sitter shows up just before 4 pm after school. She was then scheduled to work at 1pm, She talked to the boss and then High horse gave her Sh** for getting her in trouble with her dad.
My friend is now just keeping her mouth shut so she will stop getting yelled at. She needs the money so she can't just up and quit. And her husband is getting as many hours as he is allowed. So is there any work laws she can utilize to stop her bosses daughter from harassing her and her fellow employees. Because complaining only makes things worse.
She is looking for a new job, but I am worried the stress that High horse is causing her might trigger her postpartum depression. Her daughter is only 3 months and since she had postpartum with her son doctors told her to watch her stress levels.
Any advise?
1 AnswerFriends9 years agoWhat is your opinion on the No-Zero Policy is schools?
Personally I think it was made to appease parents who would rather blame the school for their child failing than admit it is partly there fault.
When I got bad grades in math, my foster mother made me do worksheets, memorize the times-table,she taught me how to count out money, and when I was older she taught me how to write checks. I even had to do this on weekends, and I had to at least get half of a work-booklet done a day!! I am still bad at math, but at least she did what all parents should do, she made it so I never stopped learning.
So I ask you do you agree with the No-Zero Policy rule in schools?

1 AnswerBooks & Authors10 years agoHaving trouble remembering a movie title.?
A black boy lives in an orphanage with other children. He really wants to play basketball but he is to short. Then some donations are sent to the orphanage. And he gets a pair of second hand runners that are magic. He gets really good at basketball. Some of the other boys get jealous and throw his shoes on a power-line. I forgot how the rest of the movie goes but I think little bow wow was the main character.
