I am by no means a vet nor do I claim to be an expert. I always try to provide reasonable and realistic advice from personal experience and my education. When in doubt, get off yahoo and call your vet!

  • Can you share your best methods for hard water and soap scum removal?

My shower doors have hard water stains and soap scum that will not come off. I have used CLR, Lysol Bathroom Cleaner, Tilex Soap Scum remover, baking powder, straight white vinegar, and I've even tried cleaning the doors with water from a water bottle. Believe me, I've used plenty of elbow grease too!

  • Netgear wireless issue. anyone have ideas for me?

Router - MR814 v3 with most recent firmware

Wireless Card (laptop) - Atheros AR5001x+ Wireless Network Adaptor - updated to driver version 4.2.2.14

OS - Windows XP with Service Pack 2

Problem: My internet is working when my computer is hooked up directly to the router. My wireless connection is not working but the SSID is being broadcast to my computer. My computer and wireless cards are on the allowed device list. I have restarted the computer in every way possible (ethernet attached/not attached, etc.) and I have reset the modem and router multiple times. Attaching directly to the router via an ethernet cable is not an option because of the location of the hookup. I have tried tweeking the settings on the router's admin site but nothing has helped.

Any ideas on what I can do?

  • QUIZ TIME FOR HORSE PEOPLE. Are you ready?

Ok, I think its time to see who knows their stuff in the horse section. Whoever answers the questions completely and accurately FIRST will get the 10 points.

    1) Why do we change a horse's feeding schedule gradually?

    2) How often do you worm horses (paste wormer not daily supplement)? At what age should worming begin? What rotation of wormers is best to use and why?

    3) What vaccinations need to be given on a yearly basis?

    4) How long are mares pregnant? When do their foals get weaned (range)?

    5) Briefly describe the difference between Stallions, Colts, Mares, Fillies, and Geldings.

    6) What does it mean if a a horse is "green"?

    7) What is the difference between English and Western riding (helmets vs. no helmets is not a good answer)?

    8) Describe the frog and its functions.

    9) Why do you pick out horse's hooves?

    10) About how much saliva does a horse secrete in 24hours?

This isn't meant to see who is smartest, it's more of a learning tool.

  • Does anyone have personal experience with bulging lumbar discs and degenerative disc disease?

I recently got diagnosed (through MRI and X-Ray) with a bulging disc in my lumbar (low spine) region as well as minimal degeneration of one disc in the same area. I'm looking for answers from those who have personal experience with pain management. I've done research so I don't need websites explaining what these things are, just input on what others have done to manage the problem. I'm already on NSAIDs and do not want to resort to any injections as of now. So non-medicinal advice would be most appreciated.

I'm a young adult, a competitive horseback rider and I am active in core strengthening classes such as pilates and yoga. I cannot physically lift weights because of a previous shoulder injury. I am also currently in a physical therapy program.

    Thanks!

  • Does anyone know of an X-Factor pedigree site?

I do not have a subscription to pedigreequery.com and do not have access to their "X-Factor" option on the pedigrees. Does anyone know of a site that provides this information for free or how it can be found in the dam lines?

This question is just out of curiousity rather than a specific need for it. I would just like to do research on my OTTB's dam line.

  • As an employee or employer what characteristics do you look for in a manager?

I am a self employeed Horse Trainer. I spend all day with horses and my few employees. In the past I have worked under managers who didn't have a clue how to relate to their employees. One minute they were cold and the next they were hot. My question is targeted to employees and maybe in some cases employers. What do you like in management? What do you loathe? If you could give advice to managers all over the world what would it be? Tell me anything and everything you want about managers.

This is also inspired by the book I am reading, "My Secret Life on the McJob: Lessons from Behind the Counter Guarenteed to Supersize Any Management Style" by Jerry Newman.

  • Anyone else have a terrible experience with Columbia House DVD?

I was charged $70.59 for "not fulfilling my membership agreement". Obviously the agreement I signed is different than the agreement they are quoting me. I had a customer service rep call me a b*tch on the phone. It took me 2 weeks to find the customer service number! It took 2-3 weeks to get an email response and they didn't even answer my question. Now they are refusing to refund me the money. In my opinion, this club isn't worth it.

Please include only wines that are reasonably priced (under $30 bottles) and if you have a favorite. I am located in California and have access to places like Albertsons, Costco, Savemart, Trader Joes and Vons.
