  • Does leaving Amazon Kindle on in case damage it?

Accidentally left kindle on inside leather case. For a couple days I think. If I did this with a laptop, of course, it would damage it. Is this the same for Kindles?

  • Does compressing music damage it?

Left for University in a mad rush. Left all my CDs at home. No chance of getting them back. Re-downloaded all my music from dropbox and google documents from zipped files. Do zip files retain CD quality?

  • Is it ok to charge a kindle in its case?

Charged kindle in its case for about an hour. Is this bad for the battery? Are there 'vents' anywhere that would be blocked if I charged it in its case (like in laptops)? The case was open, but the kindle was still attached.

  • How to check for computer overheating damage?

Accidentally left my laptop on – shutting the lid usually puts it to sleep, but not this time – and zipped it up in my laptop case, for two and a half hours. Felt warm to the touch when I came back home. Is there any checks I can run to make sure my hard drive and other inside parts are still ok?

  • Is there a way to test USB ports on Windows 7?

Might have got E45 lotion on USB device that I plugged into my notebook. Can't really see that there's anything in the ports. But, wouldn't want external harddrive to fail later, is there any way to test my USB ports? Any program on Windows 7 that will tell me if my USB ports are working ok?

    Thanks

  • Might have got E45 in USB Ports?

    Ok, this is what happened.

Plugged in an old USB External Hard Drive into my notebook computer. Noticed later that a bottle of E45 lotion had leaked into the drawer that this Hard Drive was kept in. If there were traces of E45 lotion on the silver-going-in-USB-thing (I don't know what you call it) would this do harm to my notebook?

  • Is it safe to enter bank details on my macbook? (Trojan virus question)?

I scanned my macbook with ClamXav a while back. It found a Trojan virus that had been there, apparently, since 2008. I erased my hard-drive and reinstalled Mac OS X. I did a scan with ClamXav, again, and the virus didn't show up. Is the Trojan gone? It seemed too easy to get rid of it.

  • Can a digital music library deteriorate?

My macbook CPU has been heating up to 102/103oC according to my iStat Pro app when I watch videos on youtube or play games. I thought this was normal, but some people say it isn't.

Anyway, I'll be transferring my iTunes music library from my macbook to another PC, and then recycling this macbook in return for £165 from apple. I was wondering, is it possible that the overheating CPU could damage my hard-drive, or my music files? This might sound obsessive, but I worry about these things?

If the music plays, it's ok, right?

  • £15 to spend on hip-hop music from iTunes/Amazon MP3 (UK). Recommendations?

I've been a real hip-hop fan since I was 13/14 - I'm 20 now. I don't actually buy music very often, I have a modestly sized digital collection, and listen to tracks I want but don't have on youtube. But I have about £15 to spend on music now. Here is my music collection at the moment:

De La Soul - Timeless: The Singles Collection

    DJ Shadow - Endtroducing ...

    Fugees - The Score

    Gang Starr - Daily Operation

    Ghostface - Fishscale

    GZA - Liquid Swords

    Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt

    Kanye West - College Dropout

    Kanye West - Late Registration

    Madvillain - Madvillainy

    Mobb Deep - The Infamous

    Nas - Illmatic

The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die

    OutKast - Aquemini

Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth - Mecca and the Soul Brother

Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet

Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back

Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx ...

Souls of Mischief - '93 til Infinity

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory

A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders

    Wu-Tang - 36 Chambers

Recommendations? And if you can, give a reason why.

    Thanks.
