  • 1991 Mazda MX5 Miata questions. Interior leg/head room, Reliability, anyone with experience?

Just like the question says. I'm planning on buying a 1991 Mazda Miata MX5. It's in good overal condition, with only a couple of minor flaws.

-1: Small rip in the shifter nob boot.

-2: Rear window in convertible top is loose.

Other than that, it's all great. display reads about 200,000 miles, but the engine was replaced with one from a 1993 with less than 90,000 miles, and the transmission was replaced at the same time. All in all, it looks good(From the pictures), and it's $1700. White exterior, black interior and top. Has the basic 1.6 liter engine. My questions: How are NA (First generation) Miatas as far as leg room? Head room doesn't really matter, as most of my driving would be with the top down. But I'm 6', 1", and about 190 pounds. I had an Uncle who had a 1990 miata, and he said it was fine, but he was 5'8", so maybe it will be worse fior me? I don't want to drive 65 miles just to sit in it and find out that I don't fit. This is not a dealership, it's one guy trying to sell his car. I haven't seen it yet. If any of you have any experiance with this, please let me know. I wouldn't be driving a whole lot, as this would be my first car. My commute to work is 10 miles one way, and I usually work 3 days per week. Other than that I would occasionally go out into the mountains to have some fun on the twisties, or other weekend warrior stuff. My biggest concern: Will I fit, and will it be comfortable? As far as maintaining the car, that won't be a problem, I know how to do that. If there are any problems with it when I buy(IF), then I can do the work. So if any of you have owned (OR still own) a NA Miata, and are similar size, or have had passengers of similar size, please let me know. I know I would have fun with this car. And it's either this or a Mitsubishi 3000gt, which would be more expensive, and probably less reliable. Thanks for any info!

  • Sig Sauer Mosquito vs GSG 1911? Which should I buy?

So there's a gunshow this weekend, and I'll probably find both of these pistols there. If not, I know one dealer near by that has the Mosquito for $305 plus tax, and another that has the GSG 1911 for $320.99 plus tax. Anybody have any experience with either of these two guns?

I already have 2 pistols, A bersa .380acp and a Bersa .22lr. Both of them are great, lots of fun, and accurate. But I think I want a full size pistol. I don't make alot of money, so I'm thinking of a .22lr. I'm also considering a Bersa 9mm (Yes, I really do like bersa that much), but it's not as high on the list, because it would be more expensive to shoot (But still less than my .380). So if you have any experience with these two guns, or the makers, please let me know. Any advice would be great. Thank you!

Oh, and one more question. I'm under 21(My dad has all of my guns in his name). I usually pay with cash, but I recently turned 16, and I now have a Debit card. If I were to give my dad my card, and have him pay, would that work? Or is there some way for the card to block that purchase since I'm under 18? If it won't allow that purchase, that's fine, I'll just use cash, I just want to know what I should do. Thanks for any advice/info.

Oh, and by the way, to the people who answered my question about the Bushmaster AR15 carbine, I sold it for $725.00. Thanks for the advice.

  • Questions about a Bushmaster AR15 Carbine? Please read.?

I've found all of the parts for a bushmaster Carbine, used, but in GREAT condition. The total price of the parts for me would be $560.00. How much could I sell this for? Perhaps I should explain in more detail, before I ask for the price. It has a fixed carry handle (A2 style sights), a 6 position collapsible stock, it's a .223 (I don't think this can use the 5.56), it has a 1 in 9 twist rate, a chrome lined barrel, no cosmetic issues with any of the parts, and all parts look great. Like I said, used, but great condition. The barrel is 10.5 (Or maybe it was 11.5) inches, with a 6.5 inch flash hider, making it the legal length (actually a little over). How much could I sell this rifle for? ** I ALREADY PURCHASED THE PARTS** I'm planning on selling this rifle for a little more than I spent, maybe $700? But if I can't sell it, oh well. Worst case scenario, I have a fun gun that I'll hang on to. We all know how horrible that would be. ;)

So how much could I sell this for, on local classifieds? Everything about this purchase is legal, legal barrel length, legal purchase, and my state allows private sales. Thanks you for any information!!!!!

  • Iver johnson TP-25, for $150.00. Would it be a good buy?

I've been trying to get my hands on the 22lr version for a while, for a fun PPK looking plinker. I can't find any, unless i go on gunbroker, and then they are all $350 or more. This little guy is $150.00, the only problem is it's a .25acp. I just want to know if it would still be a fun plinker to add to my collection, and also, how expensive is the .25acp cartridge?

    Thanks!!!

  • is a Balisong (butterfly knife) legal in Utah?

I heard one guy say it's considered a "deadly weapon", and therefore a CWP (concealed weapon permit) is required to carry one. And I heard another guy say that what determines a "Deadly weapon" is how is was used, how it was carried, and if any verbal threats were made, and how the carrier co-operates with police. I'm not planning on carrying a Balisong... I just want to know if it's legal to own, inside my house... The reason for my asking is that I saw a Benchmade model 42, and that was one nice looking knife.

  • Can a Utah resident buy guns in Nevada without an FFL???

Just like the question says. The gun is a 1951 Walther PP. The person in question (My Dad) is perfectly legal to buy guns in Utah. Can he buy this gun (I'm paying) in Nevada without a ffl being involved??? Can we just pay and take it with us? We're heading that way on Saturday, to go home from California, and I saw it on the way in, and now I wish to purchase it on the way back. All I want to know is if we can do this. I've heard that as long as a person is a resident of one of the adjacent states, the purchase does not require an FFL... Thanks!!!!!

  • Can a 15 year old work as a mechanic, or is there an older "legal" age?

I'm wondering this, because, guess what? Summer's here. I'd like something to do over the summer that will earn me money, instead of costing money. I'm going to be 16 at the end of summer (Sept. 2nd). Honestly, right now, a job is a job. I'd be lucky just to get any job at all. But I want to know if I could get this type of job, because it would be more money, it would probably be more fun, and i already know well enough what I'm doing ( well, enough for a simple job, like the kind at Big-O, or Jiffy-Lube, etc.). I know how to do the simple things.

    -change oil (duh).

    -rotate tires.

    -mount and dismount a tire.

-patch a tire (unfortunately not plug...)

-I have done drum brakes, but not too fond of them.

-disk brakes. those are so friggen easy, I think most mechanics could do them with their hands behind their backs ( slight exaggeration).

-I have changed a McPherson strut, but only once.

I'm sure there's more, but the point is, simple things along those lines. Is it legal for a 15 year old to get a job in this field, or should I just wait till I'm 16? I know that 15 (or even 14) year ODs can do most simple jobs, but not ones considered to be "hazardous". Is this one considered to be "hazardous"? I don't see why it would be, if all of the safety rules are followed (as with everything, safety rules were the first thing I was taught).

  • Will the SKS Tapco 20 round mags work in a Yugo SKS?

I know they work in Norincos, but I've heard there are some slight differences. I only know of the Bayonet, the night sights on the Yugo, and the grenade launcher. But there may be more that I don't know of. I was wondering, because I'm planning on buying a Yugo SKS pretty soon here. I could live with the box mag, and the stripper clips, as they will load pretty fast. But the 20 rounders, paired up with a Tapco "intrafuse" T6 stock would make it pretty cool. It might take the place of the tactical rifle that I can NOT afford. Plus, the ammo is pretty darn cheap! If not, I'll just stick with the 10 rounder. I've also found a sight on how to modify the Tapco 20 rounders to accept stripper clips. I'd probably be doing this, too, just for the faster loading of the mags, but maybe not. Thanks for any info you may have.

  • Sig Sauer 522 vs Colt 22lr M16? Or the M4 ops, I guess.?

I'm looking for a nice 22lr, so I can afford to shoot more. I'm thinking of either the Sig Sauer 522, or the Colt M1622lr. If I can't find the M16 version, I would accept an M4 ops. Between the Sig and the Colt, which is better made? Which is more accurate? Which is more reliable? I'm guessing Sig for all of them, but I'm not really sure. Plus, the cheapest I can find the M16 for is $529, and the M4 ops is $510. The Sig, I've found for $425.99 in my area. I've heard the Sig is less ammo picky, which would be good. I've also considered the S&W m&p15-22lr. I've heard bad things about it, though. I like the look of the Sig better than ALL other tactical 22lr carbines I've found (including the GSG5 and the GSG ak47). Plus, it's cheaper. So how'bout the Mag prices? And the sights. Which are better? I've also considered a 22lr pistol, in the form of a Sig Mosquito(wanted a Firestorm, but can't find one). But a Rifle is still my first choice. Which would I be better off with?

    Thanks!

Oh, and the Sig would be the OD green one, in the Classic format.

  • Fuel economy and average insurance prices of mitsubishi 3000gt?

I'm thinking of getting a 1991 Mitsubishi 3000gt. I would prefer the VR4 (DUH!), but if I can't find one(Right now I can find 3, so I'm not too concerned), I'll just get the SL. I don't want the base model. So what is the average fuel economy of this car( vr4 and sl)? And the average insurance prices? Anybody have experience with owning this car? I've heard that it's fairly cheep to insure, because it's considered a coupe by insurance companies, instead of being recognized as the high performance sports car that it is. Is this true? And is it as fun as it looks? ;)

  • Is it normal for a cat to try to lick and/or eat just about anything?

I once caught him licking day-quill. I had left it on the counter, and now I don't do that. He'll lick cheese, chocolate, today he licked the Icing off of a cake. He likes white cheddar cheese-its. Is this normal for a cat? It seems like he's a frickin dog stuck in a cat's body! It's a good thing he's cute, because he sure is a pain in the ****!

  • Top speed of a 1996 miata? MPG? Reliability? etc.?

If you have any experience in any of these areas(top speed, mpg, reliability), I'd love to know. Or any other experience with a 96 miata? I'm trying to decide whether I should get one of these, or a 95-99 eclipse convertible..... I know, not any where near the same car, but both cars I would like very much. Thanks!

  • Will the 8 round Bersa Thunder 380 cc mags fit my Thunder 380? please read.?

I have the regular duotone model, normal size.

I was wondering this, because the cc mags seem to have the same angle, and the same length, and the magazine safety catch seems to be in the same place. I'd love to have these cc mags, because they hold one more round, and they make the gun shorter, therefore more concealable... I know the 9 rounders fit, but they're longer, and the point is to make them more concealable. And if not, what's different about this mag as compared to my 7 rounders?

Also, I bought a promag 10 rounder, just for fun, and it works, but it doesn't hold back the slide after the final round. Why is this? And would the promag 7 rounders do this, too, or just the 10 rounders? Thanks!

  • Where can I find cheap 7.62x25 mm ammo online? Surplus is great.?

I asked about 9x18, and a guy posted this answer. """you will probably say no to this but you can also get a handgun chambered in 7.62x25mm, military surplus ammo is only $.11 a round and it was powerful enough for the soviets to use it for a military pistol, and a cz52 only costs around $200, but the military surplus ammo is corrosive so just spray out the barrel with some windex when you get home from shooting, look up cleaning corrosive ammo, its not as bad as it sounds"""

So is he right, or should I go 9x18? And where can I find this round? And what all guns use this round? I find the cz52 to be a very ugly gun, but worth is for the cheap, powerful ammo. And I'm aware of how to clean corrosive ammo, I have a mosin nagant 7.62x54r(means the same brush/bore snake would work in both gun, because both are 7.62 mm, I assume....)

  • Where could I get 9mm makarov and 32acp ammo bulk? At least 500 rounds.?

I'm wanting something with more power than a 22lr, but cheaper than my 380. I've heard that 9mm mak. is similar to 380, and I know 32. So which is cheaper, and where's a good online place to buy?

  • Where can I find a FEG AP-MBP?

Same as a PA-63, only in 32 acp. I held one at a gunshow today, and it felt great. Unfortunately, I didn't have the good sense to buy it at the time. I am now kicking myself. So, where can I find one, and how similar is it to the Walther pp? I love pp and ppk and their clones, hence the desire for this particular gun. Thanks!
