  • If you know you will have to stop speaking to someone in the future, is it better to just cut off contact?

If you know you will have to stop speaking to someone in the future, is it better to just cut off contact with the person now?

I can't tell them why, so that won't be an option.

  • Alternate answer to the riddle about two doors?

So you may have heard the riddle

"You have died, and are standing in front of two doors, each guarded by a person. You know that one person always lies, and one always tells the truth. One door goes to hell, one goes to heaven. You do not know which guard stands where. You get to ask 1 question to 1 of the guards. What do you ask to get to heaven?"

And the proper answer is "You ask one of the guards "what will the other guy answer if him asked him what door you stand in front of?". In either case you choose the door opposite door, that is suggested by the answer as in both cases you will get a lie."

However, when telling this to my friend, they came up with the answer "ask one of the guards what colour is my shirt" because you will know the answer and therefore whether the guard is lying or not.

Is this an alternate answer, or is there something I overlooked which makes it incorrect?

  • How to train for a hill climb?

So, i'm probably a bit late to start but it's been a bit last minute, i'm going to do 3 peaks in a week in August (the 3 uk peaks from the 3 peaks challenge)

The problem is, I can't walk up hills very well. I'm fairly fit on flat, but because I live in Norfolk I don't have hill climbing muscles. Like, at all. They just never developed, because it's flatter than pancakes here. So what exercises can I do (preferably without buying equipment) which will help, even just a little. I know ideally I would have longer to prepare but I don't so this is all i've got.

By the way, I have done bronze and silver DofE, and didn't feel too bad except when climbing those hills on silver.

  • What is the best media to use for this image?

I'm really struggling to start my final textiles critical study. This link has the image I am doing (agreed with teacher) http://www.insects.org/images/patterns/cynthia.jpe...

I have an A3 pencil outline of it, but I'm struggling with what to use for colour. It is silly, because I don't even have that much choice. Here is my choice

    Acrylic

    Oil pastels

    Pencil crayons

    Tinted charcoal.

Usually I would just go with acrylic nice and easy, but I'm not sure if I should use something else because my other art based critical is in acrylic. (The third one is a fabric based thing so no chance of that here). Any assistance or advice would be appreciated.

  • Why are the books "An inspector calls" and " Of mice and men" often placed together?

It seems that they have been put together on a number of occasions (in an exam context). Is the topic of the play relevant to the novel, and if so why does this make them get put together? There aren't any questions asking to compare the texts, yet every few years these texts are put together! Does anyone have an explanation or is it just random?

  • Book suggestions for me to read?

I don't have anything to read! Lately these are the books I liked:

    Mistborn full series

    The resistance full series

Mortal instruments (I think, by Cassandra Clare) and I read clockwork angel and clockwork prince

    Life of pi

    The hunger games

    Sabriel, lirael, (definitely my favourites)

The spooks books (all of them, and I am grimalkin)

    Lionboy

    Tunnels, deeper, free fall, closer

The curious incident of the dog in the nighttime

Mister Monday - whatever it's called sunday (garth nix)

    The rag witch

    Paranoralicy

    Starlighter

House of night marked - awakened

Darren Shan "the city" books, and lord loss - hells heros.

If that isn't too much information, I don't know what is. Does anyone know of any books in these styles that I could read? Or if you read a few of the books on this list and enjoyed them, are there any other books that you would like to read?

  • Which are the important classic doctor who episodes?

I've been a long time fan of all the new Doctor Who (from 2005 onwards), and recently I decided that I would like to watch the classic episodes as well. Unfortunately, I don't have unlimited time to watch, and as far as I can tell all the ''episodes'' (of 4 or 6 20 minutes) seem to be well over an hour long.

So, here's the question: If I'm not going to watch every episode of every doctor, which episodes are important and relate to new who, or are just so awesome I couldn't think about missing them?

By the way, I've already seen the entirely of ''an Unearthly Child'' (William Hartnell) and Spearhead from Space (Jon Pertwee).

Thanks in advance for anyone who reads, and can offer some advice. Or, just tell me your favourite classic episode, that should give me an idea of the ones to watch too. :D

  • I can ride English, but I could do some western riding?

I would say that at English riding I am at an intermediate level, but I am going to Canada and will have the opportunity to ride there. The place I will be riding has the capacity to provide an English style trained horse and an English saddle, but they are also happy to help people pick up the western style of riding.

I am quite interested in this experience, but before I let myself in for it, I would quite like to know how as a rider you adapt, whether it is easy to adapt to and if I should, or if western will give me bad habits when I go back to English riding.

I should note that I will be riding for 4 days, and it will be trail-style riding, not barrel racing or anything.

  • Good science revision websites? (GCSE)?

I really want to improve my science grades using online, but I don't really know which sites cover more of the actual material and are up to date. The most important thing for me is Biology, then Chemisty, and Physics last.

If it makes any difference, I take AQA board in all 3. I know about BBC bitesize, i just wondered if there is any better, less well known sites for me?

  • would you class dog barks as high or low frequency sound?

I recently bought some noise reduction headphones, which came with settings to reduce background high frequency noise OR low frequency noise at a time. I'm planning on using them to a dog competion, where dogs bark a lot (it gives me a headache).

    Which setting would work best?

  • Biology homework-respiration?

I think it's suppost to be quite simple, but I can't think of anything. Here is the question: Carbon dioxide and water are products of respiration. In what other essential process in living systems are they used as reactants?

Thanks in advance if you know the answer :)

  • What is the name of the tune with this piano chord sequence?

There's a really simple song with the chord sequence C A F G with what I think is 3 or 4 blocks of repeating melody, the sort of thing everyone knows a bit of, and I was worrying if anyone knows the name.

Really sorry it's a bit vague, but it's all I have to go on to describe it to you, since I always play the chords, and I don't know which notes the melody is on. Thanks in advance.

  • Dentist fear - getting braces soon! Please help if possible?

I have this thing about personal space, and when other people lean into my space I get really stressed out. I can't really explain it very well, but I have an hour at the orthodontist next week, and I have no idea how I'm going to make it through the hour with someone leaning right over me - I usually come out of an ordinary checkup (usually 2 minutes maximum) with jelly legs.

The reason I ask now is that I completely flipped out taking the mouth moulds, I actually had to go outside for a few minutes because I panicked so much, and I do NOT want to go through that again.

I also have some issues with the metal instruments dentists use in your mouth, but that's not such a big problem.

If anyone has any ways that will help distract me, I would be incredibly grateful, or if you have braces, a brief description of what they are going to do would definitely help. I'm getting standard train track braces, top and bottom, and the treatment is suppost to last 1 year, without removing any teeth.

  • What is the best f2p runecrafting exp in runescape?

My runecrafting level is 50, I want 60, and I don't want to buy tiaras, although I will buy essence. I've tried calculators, but they don't account for the distance between altar and banks, and I don't know if I should do the great orb project....

Any answers would be helpful :)
