  • Good computer for programming?

I'm on a budget of 750$ or less, and I want a desktop computer primarily for programming. I'm just going to be doing some projects with java since I just learned that language in my APCS class. I'll probably be using Windows over Linux since that is what I am used to. Thanks.

  • Will I be good at accounting?

I'm awesome at physics, chemistry, statistics and math. (Took AP physics B this year and got a 5 on a practice exam and got a 5 on the AP Stat exam). I'm decent at AP US history. I've got a good memory and have pretty good writing skills, but I am not great at doing all my reading haha. But when I do, I get hundreds on the reading quizzes and get A's on the tests. Language Arts is my hardest class since things like symbols and figurative language don't come that easily to me. I generally don't get the theme on my own either. I need someone to tell me, then I can sort of connect the dots while I'm reading. I'm also very good at my foreign language courses since I'm good at remembering rules and memorizing words. This year I have taken a computer science class and I'm decent but not as good as I'd have hoped. If you want a normalized score, I got a 670 on critical reading and a 650 on writing and a 720 on math for the SAT. I'll most likely be going to UGA. Also, based on this, do you think I will like accounting? Thanks!

  • How can I stop being so spoiled?

After a while I've begun to realize how spoiled I am. I make my parents still make me breakfast and I'm already a junior in high school. I never get my own food or do anything to help around the house. I also think I am deserving of a good education even though I hardly do anything to earn it. I believe I am really talented in math and science, but I never work hard to earn better grades than I am now (I'm getting all A's and B's, but I want all A's and really high ones). I always whine about how I am not going to go to my dream college, but I don't actually do enough work to get there. I look online about how to be a hard worker, but I don't find the urgency to actually do anything. I think the root of the problem is that I haven't had enough challenges in life because my parents are easy with me. If I can get everything I want, why not get it right? I'll be expecting even more things to just be given to me without working for it. So how do I get myself to learn how to deal with real life and actually take responsibility?

  • Do what you love or be practical?

Two options -- physicist or engineer. I love thinking about the nature of reality; I watch videos on physics and reality all the time. I am also very talented at math and science in school right now. However, I could use those talents to be an engineer instead of a physicist. There are many benefits to this of course -- safer job market, higher pay, less time in school, easier to get into field etc. The main issue that scares me about being a physicist is that I won't be able to find a university job. However, I enjoy pondering these fundamental questions about existence, and I want to be apart of the team that searches for the answers. Any advice?

  • Should I be a mathematician or an engineer?

Right now I'm taking both math and physics in high school. Math is really easy to me. I mean, I fly by the homework without struggling, and when I do struggle, I don't mind learning about it since math comes kind of natural to me. Physics on the other hand is a little harder, though not too much. I'm not very pictorial, and it doesn't come as natural to me. Some of the topics are kind of fun though. I like electricity and I liked optics. Forces and work and energy were also pretty easy. For fun, I like to watch videos on the big bang and quantum mechanics. I don't, however, like the idea of being a professor. I want a job, so it seems like mathematician or engineer would be the best choices. How should I choose between these?

  • How can I keep my faith strong?

I keep having doubts in my head about Allah, but I still pray five times a day. I want to keep my faith strong. Also, what can I do throughout the day other than praying that will help me be a better Muslim? Can you help me be a better Muslim and help me stop having doubts?

  • How do I start studying more than I use the computer?

I can't get myself to start studying no matter what I try. Well, scratch that, sometimes I do with a tremendous amount of effort. Logically, I want to study more as it will help my grades, but I still can't get my emotions in place. How can I make myself really want to study more than, say, use the computer? How can I make studying something I love to do?

  • Trying to decide which engineering is right for me?

I'm a junior in high school, and I'm taking physics this year, and, along with chemistry, it's my favorite subject. My favorite part of physics so far has been electromagnetism. I understand the concepts really well, and the subject is fun to think about. I found mechanisms easy yet a little boring and fluids and thermodynamics were really tricky although I thought they were a little interesting. I also love chemistry, but I think biology is kind of boring. I'm also good at math although I'm only taking precalculus this year, so take that with a grain of salt. Furthermore, I'm taking computer science this year, and it's a little boring. The type of math you do in that class is not for me. I think the kind of problems in physics are much more interesting. With that said, which engineering field would be best for me?

  • How can I be likable?

At school, the friends at my lunch table won't talk to me unless I say something to them first. They never invite me to places to hang out with them even though I hear about it later. The sad thing is that they are the closest people to me. Whenever I ask them to hang out, they never want to. The only time I hung out with one of my friends this year was when I asked one of them if he wanted to watch a football game at my house, but then he invited me over to his house since he was already having some of our friends over. By the way I've known them for a couple of years, so it's not like I just met them this year. We all used to be really close in middle school, but ever since this year started, we've been drifting. I just want them to be friends with me again.

  • Is whatever you dream yourself of doing in the future the same thing as the career you would enjoy the most?

I have always dreamed of two different careers that I would want to have. One would be being a programmer and working in Silicon Valley preferably at Google. My other dream would be to be an astrophysicist and trying to solve mysteries about the universe. However, these are just my dreams because I would like to be in those situations and they interest me. I'm not sure if actually doing programming or actually doing physics would be things that I like to on an everyday basis. Maybe they would be careers I hate doing despite me always dreaming of being in those two situations. Is following "your dreams" always the best option?

  • How to get rid of acne scarring?

Hi, I'm a 16 year old Indian male and I have a lot of acne scars. I am still treating my acne with a dermatologist using retin-A and benzoyl peroxide. I was researching and found out that it was very hard to treat ice pick scars, especially for darker skin types, which I have a lot of. Is it possible to get rid of ice pick scars if you have a dark skin type?

  • Computer says plugged in, charging but it's not charging?

I have a Toshiba L655-S5198 and the battery icon says plugged in charging, but it does not go higher than 0%. It just stays there, so the battery is not actually charging. Also, when I first plugged it in it the battery icon started making the charging animation, but then it stopped making the animation yet it still says it is plugged in and charging and it stayed at 0%. I already tried these two methods:

  • How should I start working out if I am underweight?

I'm 16 and I weigh 103 pounds and I the last time I checked I was 5'5. I want to get bigger, but I'm not sure if I need to start gaining weight before I start working out. Also, is it unhealthy for me to weight lift? I know a ton of people my age who already do it, but I'm kind of a different story.

  • My penis points left when erect?

It goes about 10 degrees too far to the left. it also point up pretty far. Like if the ceiling was 90 degrees and straight ahead was 0, then my penis would be i think between 60 and 70 degrees. Is this unhealthy? Can I do anything about it?

  • DNS Server not responding?

Everytime I start using the computer, this happens to me. It takes about 5-10 minutes of waiting for it to fix. I have tried changing my DNS several times. I have tried my ISP's, Google's, and Open DNS but the same problem exists. I also tried Google Namebench and I used the servers there. Although the internet got faster, the DNS would stop responding for 5-10 minutes after I got back on. Is this a problem with my router? What should I do? I am not very tech savvy.

  • What are the pros and cons of becoming a doctor?

I'm not sure if I should become an engineer or a doctor. My whole life I have wanted to become a doctor because my dad is a pediatrician. However, last summer, I started to research more about the medical career, and I found out about how hard it is to get into medical school. I also found out that students get into a lot of debt after long years of schooling. I also know that doctors work under a lot of stress. I was wondering what the pros and cons of being a doctor are, and how I would know if that is something I would like to do. I also want to say that chemistry is probably my favorite subject, and I was really good at biology which I took last year.
