  • How do I politely let my roommate know that he's not supposed to leave raw meat on the counter to thaw?

My roommate leaves his raw meats on the counter and then cooks and eats them. A few weeks ago he got sick and couldn't keep down a meal and I suspect it's because of this. How do I tell him? Should I leave him a note or something? He has burger patties sitting out there as I type.

  • How long do flowers last before wilting?

I want to pick a flower from my dad's garden and give it to somebody the next day (a little over 25 hours between picking and giving). Will the flower die before I can give it to the person? How do I preserve the flower so it doesn't wilt before I give it?

  • Should I continue to take notes in my Differential Equations class?

I am taking a class, and in my class, I write down everything the teacher writes down on the board (as I usually do). But I'm wondering if I should continue doing that or if it's just a waste. I rarely look back at my notes when studying and sometimes my thoughts wander as I take notes. Sometimes the teacher moves too fast for me to write and I end up just catching up, mindlessly copying. Most of the stuff she writes is also in the textbook anyway. The way the teacher writes on the board is also a complete mess, and with my handwriting it becomes even more disorganized (the teacher loves going back and squeezing things between lines which is so annoying). When I try to practice the problems, I usually just learn by looking in the book and also looking at solutions to problems online. I would've already quit taking notes if it weren't for the fact that when I don't take notes I tend to daydream and I kind of think note taking keeps me alert a little. I decided to ask the Internet so I could get some outside opinions perhaps from some experienced people. Thanks.

  • How do I solve this differential equation: dy/dx=1/(y-x)?

It's supposed to be linear in x. I tried to solve it like this:

    dy/dx=1/(y-x)

    (y-x)dy/dx=1

    (y-x)=dx/dy

    y=(dy/dx)+x

but that's where I get stuck. Am I not seeing something?

  • What are some affectionate things to send to my girlfriend who is far away?

My girlfriend is 300 miles away from me until August 18 when we go back to school. I miss her badly and I want to be affectionate, but the things I do to show affection are just becoming repetitive (we've been separate for about 60 days now). Here are some examples of things I already do that are getting kind of old: sending the kissing emoticon over text, sending a hug (>-_-)> over text, telling her she's beautiful/pretty/cute or that I like her, the occasional letter in the mail, telling her I miss her, etc. The thing is, using these too much makes them lose meaning in a way. I'm trying to think of new ideas and I thought maybe you guys could help me. Thanks.

  • I'll be taking Dif Eq soon, and I was wondering what are some good things to study before classes start?

I'll be taking Differential Equations in Summer B and I'd like to do really well to bring up my GPA so I want to prepare for the class before it starts. What things should I review? I was already thinking about possibly watching all of Khan Academy's videos for Dif Eq.

    I don't know if it matters, but I just thought I'd say I took all of the Calcs. I got a B in Calc 1, a D then B in Calc 2, and a C in Calc 3.

  • I think my roommate is smoking pot in my room even after I asked him to stop. What should I do?

So my roommate smoked pot in my room (on-campus housing) and I asked him to stop. He did it again once and he said he was sorry and he would stop. I haven't caught him in the act again, but I have suspicion that he's doing it still because sometimes I walk in there and it smells like pot. Also, today, there was a lighter on my desk. The other day he smoked in my suitemate's room (suitemate's are the two people whose room is attached to mine through the bathroom) because I guess my suitemates smoke too. Now here's the thing. I don't really mind that he smokes, I just don't want to get in trouble for not telling on him if he gets caught. From what I understand, if you're in the dorms and your roommate gets caught with weed and you knew about it, you might get in trouble. I've only got about 3 weeks left in the dorm so it's not likely that he gets caught, but the fear is there and I asked him to stop but he didn't so I don't know what to do.

  • What's a good song I could play on guitar for my girlfriend on Valentine's day?

I want to play a cute/romantic song for my girlfriend on Valentine's day. I'm pretty good at guitar, but bad at singing. I also have trouble singing and playing guitar at the same time. Of course, how's it going to be cute/romantic without words? I think it would be tough to find such a song so I've come to terms with the fact that I'll just have to find a song that's both easy to play and easy to sing. So does anything come to mind? Oh, and just so you kind of know what she likes for music, I know she likes Death Cab for Cutie so something by them or similar to them would probably get extra points. Thanks so much.

  • How does interstate traffic on New Years Eve compare with traffic on Christmas Eve?

I'm planning on making a trip from Gainesville, FL to Delray Beach, FL on New Years Eve. I'm trying to get an idea of how long I'm going to be driving. I'm trying to use my friend's average speed on his trip to Hollywood, FL that he's making today (Christmas Eve) to figure out what my average speed should be like. So far he's averaged about 66 mph. So which Eve tends to have more traffic or are they roughly the same?

(I'll be taking I-75 to the turnpike to I-95 if that helps)

  • My girlfriend won't let me touch her ears. Why?

At first she said she didn't want me to touch her ears because it tickles, but then she said it's actually something she doesn't want to tell me (yet) because apparently I'm not ready yet. She said it's kind of embarrassing but not bad. I'm trying to guess it. You guys got any ideas?

    (She says it's not medical)

  • Does gelato have more or less milk than ice cream?

I want to take a girl with me to get some gelato (she's never had it before. Terrible, I know) but she's lactose intolerant so I want to know if she'll be alright with gelato. She said she can ice cream, but not a lot of it. She said she could have about as much ice cream as is in a Blizzard at Dairy Queen.

  • A girl's boyfriend just broke up with her. How long should I wait before asking her out?

From what I understand, it was a relationship lasting 8 months. I must admit, I don't know her all that well. We are both freshmen in college and we live in the same area since we're in the dorms. I've hung out with her a little bit, but not a whole lot. So how long after the break up should I start thinking about asking her out?

  • A girl I'm interested in just broke up with her boyfriend. How long should I wait before asking her out?

Actually, I said she broke up with her boyfriend. I don't know if that's really true. All I know is that she was in a relationship and she isn't anymore. I don't know who ended it. From what I understand, it was a relationship lasting 8 months. I must admit, I don't know her all that well. We are both Freshmen in college and we live in the same area since we're in the dorms. I see her sometimes at the dining hall and wave hello. We talk on facebook from time to time. The only time I've spent considerable time with her in real life was when we went for a walk around campus. I guess any tips regarding relationships would be helpful even if they're not dealing with how long I should wait to ask her out. If I somehow ended up getting a date with her, it would be my first ever date. So you can see how much of a relationship newbie I am. So yeah, help me out Yahoo! Answerers! Thanks

  • I have a friend who needs a job, but isn't applying enough. How can I help him?

My friend desperately needs to get a job and move out of his mom's place. He graduated high school and has no intention of going to college. His mom supports him in every part of his life (she divorced his dad, but has a boyfriend). She has threatened to either move out or kick him out, but she never follows through. She really spoils him too. My friend never mows the lawn, she does. My friend doesn't pay any bills. His mom pays for his iPhone. His mom (with the help of her boyfriend) bought him a 6000 car which he has wrecked (his mom payed to fix it too).

Anyway, I feel like my friend isn't applying to enough places. He's kind of limited himself to applying to retail jobs. He hasn't gotten any jobs yet. I told him he needs to try fast food and manual labor but he says fast food is "not his style." I suggested he deliver pizza, but he said "They all want you to have prior job experience." I also suggested he comb through craigslist and put up and ad, but he's not going to do that. Whenever he fails to get a job after an interview he just says he's going to give up and live with his mom until she kicks him out and then he said he's going to live in a homeless shelter. He says "the jobs only want smart people." He's actually not stupid. He's not that smart though. He did bad in school except for one year when he lived with his dad in 5th grade when he said he got A-B honor roll. He hasn't been trying since then though.

So I'm just tired of sitting around waiting till he gets a job and listening to him complain when he doesn't have a good interview. I know he could have a job if he worked at it, but he's not trying at all.

  • How do you (Americans) get your motorsport news?

I'm not into NASCAR or Indy racing. I like GT racing and rally, but I live in the States, and they never put that stuff on TV here. I want to know where to get news on motorsport. Maybe like a website or something that I can customize to only show my favorite types of racing.

  • I want some good, light, thin soled minimalist running shoes that won't break the bank. What are my options?

Being stylish also can't hurt. I see some good shoes around like $100 and stuff, but I want to be paying half that.
