  • Self Defense in Ohio for a ex-con?

    When I was 17 I was arrested for numerous crimes and sentenced to a 3-15yr bid. I did 2 yrs to the board and was given one more year for a petty infraction I incurred my first week there, for a total of three years in. I did my 13 months parole after my release and after over 4 years, I was finally free again...or so I thought. I am now a 32yr old man with not even a traffic ticket in 8yrs, have two children who are on the honor roll, and I did the time for my crimes...in which no one was hurt I might add. Now for the question...If I am at home with my children at 2:17am on a Wednesday night and I am awakened by a burglar with a gun demanding money...and in a split second decision I throw him down a flight of steps breaking his neck, is it involuntary manslaughter or self defense?
