  • Is this really a Buddhist belief?

So, I'm reading a Shirley McClain book and she describes a trip to Thailand. She is in a canoe on a guided tour. She sees a small child in another canoe fall into the river. His parents look at him for a second then turn their heads and do nothing. Shirley wants to jump out of the boat and help but her tour guide stops her. He explains that due to karma, everything that happens is God's will. To retrieve the child from drowning would be against God's will. If someone ignored God's will and saved him, then the child would be obligated to that person for the rest of his life. No Buddhist would put that obligation onto another Buddhist. So, they would rather let a small child drown. And Shirley says that her religiously learned morals were changed that day. She learned to accept everyone's beliefs as a learning experience. She's worse than a kook. But, is this what they do in Buddhist countries?

  • Why do people say that hell is graves?

They are ignoring and/or attempting to discredit God's word.

2 Thessalonians 1:5-10 All this is evidence that God's judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. The will punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

Mark 9:48-49 Words of Jesus, " Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched. Everyone will be salted with fire.

Matthew 3:12 John the Baptist speaking of the second coming of Jesus, "Whose winnowing fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his threshing floor, and gather his wheat into the barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

Matthew 25:41 Jesus speaking of his second coming,"Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels."

Matthew 10:28 Jesus said, " And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell"

  • Is calling someone confused insulting?

Someone calls themselves Bug and then proceeds to twist reality in their question. Calling Jerry Falwell "bad" is not the truth. He did not "welcome" the 9/11 attack. He said it was a result of America turning it's back on America. That does not mean he wanted it to happen. I disagree with him by the way. To compare Jerry Falwell with Osama Bin Laden and Christianity with Islam shows your confusion. They are opposed to each other. By the way, I did not mean to insult you little Bug. If you think Osama is in heaven then you are confused. And atheism is not about love. It is about non-belief in God. Only Jesus Christ is love.

  • Can we understand the purpose of hell?

Some people seem to think God wants to torture people forever. Wrong. He does not. That is why we do not have to do anything but accept His free gift of Jesus.

In the spiritual world beyond earth there are two possibilities. That is just a fact. Be with God or be separated from Him.

Heaven is being with God, the creator of all good. Or, be separated from Him away from good.

  • Is the moral decay of the world a sign that the world will end soon?

The world has always been immoral but now what is right is called wrong.

Or, is a more definite sign atheism and the denial of their instinctual yearning for God? Are we seeing the Great Apostasy now?

  • Should we consider church doctrine to be equal with the Bible?

I know the Bible is the Word of God, but if church fathers have written doctrines since the dawn of Christianity, shouldn't these be held with the same amount of authority as the Bible?

  • Where in the Bible does it say that Jesus was the only person who never sinned?

Is every person ever born a sinner? Didn't Mary as the mother of God have to be without sin?

  • Is every sin based on power?

So, I'm reading a book and it says that Adam sinned because he wanted power over Eve. I guess Adam thought Eve had gained power over God by disobeying Him and he wanted the knowledge of good and evil, too. Adam believed Satan who said, " You will be like God" and wanted God's authority and power of every subject. So this leads me to wonder, Is every sin a result of wanting authority or power? Does every sin result in a damaged relationship?

  • Is Jesus now a spirit or did His body, now incorruptible, raise from the dead and ascend into heaven?

John 20:24-29 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, i will not believe."

And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them; then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace be unto you" Then said he to Thomas, "Reach here thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach here thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing."

And Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God." Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because thou has seen me, thou has believed; blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."

  • Spiritually, what do we learn from Jesus healing the soldier's ear?

Peter drew his sword and attempted to cut off a soldier's head when they came for Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. He cut off the man's ear instead. Jesus told Peter to stop and healed the soldier's ear. What can we learn spiritually from this? Was the soldier the only one healed? How can we apply this to R & S?

  • Did you know Noah and Tubal-cain were cousins?

Genesis 4:22 " And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-cain, an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron." People were making weapons and farm implements long before the ark was built. This means that Noah had the ability to reinforce his ark. He certainly took enough time to get everything right. There was no hogging or sagging of the ark. It was perfectly capable of withstanding any waves it encountered or structural shifting because of weight loads.

  • Why do some say that Jesus didn't want the gospel preached to the Gentiles?

Matthew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations, and then shall the end come."

Mathew 28:19-20 " Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

  • Why don't they follow the words of God's prophet?

In Matthew 26 Jesus (Isa) is arrested by the high priests. His disciple Peter cuts off one of their ears. Jesus says to Peter " Put away your sword, for all those that take up the sword shall perish by the sword." In other words, do not use physical violence. No one was threatening anyone's life at that time so it was not self defense. If Jesus was God's prophet, why do you want to kill anyone who is not a believer and go against his teaching?
