  • Could someone recommend a motherboard?

I have a 6 year old mb with a P4 3.2GHz processor that works good, but I'm finding that the minimum system requirements for new software (esp. games) are starting to surpass my current set up.

My intention is to upgrade to Windows 7, 64 bit version. I'd like any suggestions folks may have for a board and processor that I can count on for another 6 years.

    Thanks in advance...

  • Are there generic ethernet drivers for motherboards?

I have an old system on which I installed WinXP Pro (no service packs) and it's not recognizing the on-board ethernet connection. I was wondering if there were generic drivers I could install and use until I got all the updates.

    Thanks,

    Jov

  • Any idea what virus I have?

I run Firefox. When I right-click on a link with a redirect in the address and open in a new tab, I get redirected to some bogus search site. When I watch the tab, there's a symbol that looks like a hand-written 2 that appears briefly then disappears.

I've run McAfee, AVG, AdAware, SpyBot, RemoveIT Pro v. 4, Vipre and Trend Micro's "HouseCall". All of them find things, but even after the bad files are removed, the problem continues.

In addition, something is trying to drop AVE.EXE, which causes a bogus "XP Security Center" to open and pretend to be finding viruses. I've never had such a problem trying to remove a virus/malware infection in my life. Any reasonable ideas will be really appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jov

  • SB5101 Cable modem won't talk?

I just got this modem today and installed it, then powered it up. No problems. All the lights are working properly. I did IPCONFIG to see if the modem was picking up the correct addresses. It was. I called the cample company to tell them I had a new modem, but when they tried to talk to it, it wouldn't respond. I couldn't browse the web or anything. Is there something wrong with my modem, or does the weekend staff at the cable company lack the tech knowledge to fix this?

    Thanks in advance,

  • Halo: Combat Evolved Reinstall?

I'm having problems with Halo: CE which involved the character moving forward without touching any controls. I'd like to uninstall and reinstall to see if this fixes the issue, but I don't want to lose my progress. Does anyone know which files contain the saved game content?

    Thanks in advance...

  • Halo: Combat Evolved Bug?

I've been playing Halo: CE for the PC for a while and I'm getting pretty far into the game. I've noticed recently that without touching any controls the character moves forward slowly, like it's creeping. Has anyone encountered that? Is there a fix?

    Thanks in advance

  • Why are the big 3 religions all about behavior?

It seems that Judaism, Christianity and Islam focus more on how people should behave as opposed to the nature of life or spirituality or other "ethereal" issues. What do you think?
