I am essentially Theodisc in my belief, but with significant influence from Norse paganism. I believe in upholding the NIne Noble Virtues, tolerance of other religions, and pride in one's heritage. I rabidly oppose several political groups, such as the GOP, Democratic Party, and all National Socialist organizations. My political beliefs are best described as "Anglo-Saxon Feudalism," as opposed to French feudalism or any other variant, although I am also fond of Communism. I study language, and have some knowledge of Welsh, German, Dutch, Finnish, Russian, Estonian, Latin, and Anglo-Saxon, in addition to my native language of Modern English. The music I listen to is also important to me. I am a "devout" metalhead; I listen almost only to metal. The music I listen to most is Folk Metal (look it up), bands such as Eluveite, Metsatöll, Forefather, Heidevolk, and Korpiklaani. I also listen to Dethklok, Amon Amarth, Tyr, and the occasional Dimmu Borgir song.

  • Does anyone here actually understand Communism?

It really bothers me to see people constantly bashing something they don't understand.

If you look at what America was built on, and what Communism is all about, then the two should fit perfectly together.

First, I'd like to make several things clear.

The Soviet Union, North Korea, Cuba, China, or any other "Communist State" is actually communist.

A communist society has no state, so the phrase "Communist State" does not have any real meaning.

In a Communist society, the ultimate democracy is realized.

Communism essentially is this- The people rule themselves on an extremely local basis, without any state or ruling class to exploit them.

It is the opposite of the totalitarian dictatorships of the Cold War.

In reality, capitalism is more totalitarian than communism. By a lot.

So please try and understand what you're talking about BEFORE you start bashing it.

  • What music fits best with your spiritual/religious beliefs?

    For me, it's Folk Metal.

  • Spiritually speaking, what do so many people have against pagans?

The vast majority of Abrahamic practices are really just pagan practices with a monotheistic twist to it...

So why not just let us be pagan? So many Christians and Muslims seem to be marching around with a "kill everyone except yourself" flag, encouraging bigotry and hypocrisy, when they could just enjoy their own faith and let everyone else enjoy theirs.

What I want to know is why they do that, when it is obviously more practical to leave us pagans alone.

  • Spiritually speaking, what, in your opinion, were the three worst and three best single events in history?

    To me, the worst are

    1. Battle of Hastings, October 14, 1066

    2. Appointment of Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of Germany, January 30, 1933

    3. Battle of Alesia, September 52 B.C.

    The best were

    1. Battle of the Teutoberg Forest, September 9 A.D.

    2. Battle of Stiklestad, July 29, 1030

    3. Visigothic Sack of Rome, August 24, 410

I was just wondering, because in many places (especially the middle east) pagans are persecuted and lied about. How is it in Egypt?

It seems like there are parallels, but I'm not entirely sure.

  • Why does this keep happening?

Every time I post a question about Asatru, Heathenry, or something else Pagan-related, Yahoo Answers wants to put it in the "Halloween" section.

    That makes me sick

  • Hooray! My fellow heathens, what do you think?

I am a young (teenage) Heathen, and my dad just gave me a copy of the Poetic Edda (Hollander Translation) that's about as old as he is!

It's in great condition, and I don't think I've ever been happier about a book.

How do you feel about this?

P.S. Just something my dad told me- he said that when I'm a Professor of Runology, I can have that on my bookshelf and boast about it

  • Heathens! One of our many minor holidays! What are you doing for it?

The ninth (tommorrow when I wrote this, probably today or after by the time you read it) is the Day of Remembrance of Hermann of the Cherusci (also known as Arminius)

Without him, Romanizing processes may have had a far greater, possibly devastating, effect on the culture of the Germanic peoples.

He was arguably the most important figure in preserving and protecting the ways of the Germanic tribes from the Romans, later enabling three of the numerous sacks of Rome (the Vandals, Visigoths, and Ostrogoths all sacked Rome)

Without his military experience in dealing with Romans, Germanic culture and religion would not be what it is today.

    Hooray for Hermann!

  • What do you think about this conclusion about prayer?

I, through much thought and some meditation, have reached the conclusion that the most sincere prayers are those that are not actively thought or spoken, but that you truly hope for in you subconscious, possibly without even knowing it.

So, in a way, prayer is more a state of mind than an action.

  • Why do some heathens worship Loki over the other Gods?

Loki, although occasionally working with the Aesir, usually has only his own purposes in mind.

It is Loki that will lead the dead from Hel against the Gods at the Ragnarok.

We must take into consideration what it says in Lokasenna, in which his display of hateful and treacherous speech does no good.

I am required by open-mindedness to accept that he is not inherently evil, but I have significant skepticism about him.

I would much rather be in the company of Odin and Thor, with frequent discussions with Loki, to see if he is actually more good or bad, while I can be more certain about most other Gods.

  • What do you feel is the purpose of religion?

I feel that it is to give us a method of acting morally, combined with a reason to.

I'd like to see what some other people think about it.

I expect lots of negativity, so all positive answers are appreciated.

I'd also like to know which religion/lack thereof you follow

  • Why do people treat war as entirely evil?

I accept that war is disgusting. The sheer suffering and death is unimaginable.

    But nonetheless, it has positives.

It is not the hatred and fear of men that keeps war going on century after century, it is the spirit of the warrior.

Ever since men first through spears at each other, there have been warriors.

And it is the warrior that suffers most, out of all creatures.

But through that suffering they gain morals, ethics, discipline.

The Spartans of Ancient times were famous for their discipline and courage, but they were also the most ethical people of their time.

    Examples of Spartan valour:

    http://www.military-quotes.com/forum/spartan-quote...

    http://ancientgreekbattles.net/Pages/47931_Spartaq...

The Vikings, too, risked everything for their lands and families.

The lands of medieval Scandinavia were not fertile enough to support its people entirely off of farming. So the men would take up arms and bring their ships across the North sea and raid foreign lands.

    Many did not return.

But still, even today, the conduct of fighting men and women is infinately greater than that of average civilians.
