  • Bloated Emperor Scorpion?

I have an emperor scorpion that I received from a friend to take care of for a while (a long, long while). It was eating well and exploring it's habitat very normally up until I changed house. Since then, it hasn't come out of his hide at all. I thought it was going into shed until I changed the soil. The scorpion moved around like usual, but I found it severely bloated looking (the 'skin' is stretched out between the plates on its body).

I thought it was just getting fat at first, so I didn't feed it for a little while. It's been about 3 or 4 weeks without eating, yet it still looks very fat. It's also become lethargic and hides all the time. It doesn't even come out at night when it's dark.

I don't know how old the scorpion is, but it's about 1 inch long with the tail, so it's just a baby.

Is the scorpion going to be okay? What's wrong with it?

  • Pill bugs in emperor scorpion enclosure?

I have recently come into possession of a rather young emperor scorpion (1 inch, 1 1/2 at most with tail and claws). However, the previous owner had tossed in some pill bugs to feed it and now there are a bunch of baby ones, along with some adults, in the enclosure.

I have since removed the adults, but the babies are still in the dirt and almost impossible to remove. I read that these pill bugs are beneficial to keep in the terrarium, but other sources say that they will possibly kill the scorpion after it molts.

So should I let them stay in the terrarium with my emperor, or should I just change the dirt to make sure all of them are gone?

  • Is my tongue piercing too far back?

First off, it is already removed.

I got my tongue pierced Friday 13th. 5 days later, though it was beginning to feel alright and I was beginning to be able to speak and eat again, the top of the tongue was still strangely swollen, unlike the bottom of the tongue that had been badly swollen days before. It was so bad that a bit of skin was actually beginning to grow over the top ball of my piercing and if I didn't 'push it out' of my tongue when I extended it, you couldn't see the top ball at all. I also could not extend my tongue very far out. I could only bring it out until the top ball was past my front teeth.

I went to a different shop to get a second opinion and they told me that it was half an inch far back on my tongue and that I needed to get it out or else I'd either speak with a lisp the whole time I have it in, it had a higher chance of infection and that it may not heal in a long time. This scared me, so I asked them to take it out.

That was yesterday. Today, the hole had basically healed over and I cannot reinsert the piercing. However, now that I can extend my tongue all the way out, the placement looks alright to me.

You can see where it had been by the dot. I want to ask if it really had been placed too far back, or was it fine. I am extremely upset right now at the situation, as the piercing itself had caused a lot of pain and I had to hide it on top of that.

    Thanks

  • Got some questions on crested geckos?

A few questions here... I currently have a single 3-ish inch long with tail crested gecko.

I've looked at a lot of sources and everywhere I go, people tell me that feeding 4 or 5 dusted crickets every week or other week is good for crested geckos. I've been feeding my crested gecko 1 dusted cricket a day after I take him out because I'm trying to make him associate my hands with a treat, so he'll tolerate handling better. So is this okay?

What are good foods to gutload crickets with? I've had people tell me to get commercial gutloads, but I personally think it's a waste of money and a marketing gimmick. I've gutloaded with leafy greens, broccoli, cherries, apples, cucumbers and papayas before. Anything else recommended?

My current terrarium is an exo-terra mini tall (12" x 12" x 18") and is currently housing the single gecko. I wanted to start a small colony of about 2 or 3 geckos. Is it safe to keep 2 or 3 juvenile geckos in there until they're a bit larger? I'll upgrade then.

    Thank you in advance.

  • How to tell if you're pregnant with an irregular period?

So I have a very irregular period. When I say very irregular, I mean one month it can start on the 3rd, next month it can start on the 22nd, month after that there could be none at all. It's crazy all over the place. Normally this is completely alright, except for now.

I recently became sexually active. I use condoms but not birth control, as I'm not old enough to buy (15 going on 16 very soon).

I haven't gotten my period yet this month, and though I've been getting no sore breasts, morning sickness, warm stomach, etc... I have been having the urge to urinate a lot lately, and I mean a lot, even if there's very little or none at all to expel. It hurts a little and I bled a bit as well when I urinated, even if it wasn't my first time. Sex is rough sometimes, so I'm thinking it might be that, though I'm still worried. My stomach -looks- a bit swollen, but that might be me just beginning to gain a bit of weight from increased eating habits that I've noticed, and my stomach doesn't feel swelled at all. I also highly doubt my stomach would begin to swell within the month.

The thing is, when I become worried, my period has a tendency to delay itself, and since I'm worried about this, it might be delaying itself, therefore making me worried even more. I plan on getting a pregnancy test very soon, but I'm not sure if it's too soon to test, since my period's normally all over the place.

I'd very much appreciate if anybody could offer some sort of advice. I'm very concerned at the moment. Thank you.

  • Screameleon panther chameleons? And on that...?

    http://www.screameleons.com/index.htm

I am considering getting my first pet chameleon and this breeder seems very legitimate and professional. Had anybody ever had experience with this breeder? How was it? Are the chameleons as healthy and beautiful as they portray them?

Also, if anybody can link me to sites that talk about the care of a panther chameleon? I'd like all the help I can get. And what are your personal experiences with chameleons as pets?

    Thank you.

  • How to get a rat to warm up to you? And how do you reduce the smell?

So, I had gotten a pet rat two days ago. He's sniffing around and finally beginning to walk around his cage instead of taking very slow, deliberate steps and being weary of everything. He's sniffing my hands and taking fruit, but only when he's inside the cage--he wont take treats when he's outside the cage. I want him to actually walk onto my arm when I put my hand in and want to play with me, instead of having to pick him up. So my first question is; how do you begin to get a rat warmed up to you?

Second question is the smell. I have a male and I know they tend to stink a little more then females. I can handle it fine, it's just my father who cannot. Is there any way to reduce the smell besides buying expensive deodorizers or neutering him?

  • Do rats make clean pets?

So right now, both me, my sister and my stepmother unit want a pet rat. However, my father does not, and he says they're dirty, they can easily give people diseases and that their urine can get into the air and make us sick.

I've done my research, and most, if not all of my sources ranging from Wikipedia, speciality sites, pet stores and asking people who have owned rats say that they are like mini-cats and very clean. At this point, I'm just asking for a bit more information.

So, what are your personal experiences with rats? Are they clean animals? Are they friendly, cuddly, nippy, etc?

    Thanks

  • Is alacritysim.com working for anybody?

Whenever I try to enter the website, it gives me a 403 error message and will not let me access the website. I have a suspicion that they may have banned my IP address, but I haven't done anything wrong. Is alacritysim.com working for anybody else, or is it just me? I cannot seem to contact them in any way.

    Thank you

  • Dog Walking Service... Advice Please?

I am thinking of starting up a dog walking service in the group of condos I live in because a lot of people have dogs and I need to make some money... I love dogs anyways. :)

Does anybody have any advice on how I can start? This is the first time I'm doing it so I don't have any references, but I have walked dogs before. I need things like approximate pricing, how to advertise myself, things to look out for, stuff like that. I need a base to start out with.

So, anybody have any advice I can use? Thanks in advance!
