  • Help intepreting a roofing claim?

My dad had his homeowner's insurance take a look at our roof for replacement and today we received the estimate in the mail. Problem is we both don't really know how to interpret the summary as we are unfamiliar with the terms used. The summary takes this form:

    Line Item Total- Amount

Sales Tax @ State Rate- Amount

    Replacement Cost Value- Amount

    Less Depreciation- (Amount)

    Actual Cash Value- Amount

    Less Deductible- (Amount)

    Net Claim- Amount

    Total Recoverable Depreciation- Amount

Net Claim if Depreciation is Recovered- Amount

The first three amounts are easy as they are just how much the roof would cost+ sales tax= replacement cost value, but after that we don't really have a clue. Which one of these numbers gives us the price my father would have to pay? Thanks

  • Refurbished Computer Problem?

A couple of months ago my Grandpa bought a refurbished laptop from a vendor associated with Best Buy. It came with Windows XP Professional installed. A couple of weeks ago he heard that support was ending on XP and he used a Windows 7 disk to upgrade the laptop. Not knowing the license was only for 1 computer, he used the product code from the desktop. Obviously, windows gave him 30 days to enter a valid product key or buy one. I told him that I had an old XP disk at my house, so today I installed Windows XP Home on his laptop today and downloaded the drivers for it. I am not using the computer that the XP home disk came from, but Windows was not authenticated. I even used a program to find the product key in the registry, and it also did not work. Any ideas on what I can do? The laptop did not come with a Windows Disk (which is stupid because his desktop is also refurbished and it came with one). The only other thing I can think of is to install Ubuntu or some distribution of Linux.

  • Advanced Stats in Fantasy Baseball?

With Fantasy Baseball not that far away, my friends and I have been looking to make some changes to the categories that we include. We are looking to replace average, and I think OPS is an obvious option, but does anyone know of anywhere to play fantasy where maybe wOBA is available as an option?

  • I'm Liberal and Pro-Choice. How exactly am I a murderer?

I've never performed an abortion, nor do I condone murder. I simply support a woman's choice to make that decision if it comes down to that. I certainly don't celebrate abortions, and I don't even support late-term abortions (unless the life of the mother is on the line of course). Conservatives fight for the unborn, but we all know that a baby that was saved from abortion could grow up with drug dealing parents and have cocaine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they wouldn't even care. That would mean spending more tax money to help parents take care of their child. After all, the parents must be punished for having a child, even if that means that the child is punished because of that. Maybe they could be put up for adoption, but then again how many children are in foster care in the United States? Something that could be ameliorated if gay couples could adopt, but do conservatives support this? Of course not. They take pride in stopping abortion then not caring what happens to those saved at all, and me and other liberals get made out be cold-hearted bastards because of it.

  • When does Israel's right to defend itself cross the line into going on the offensive?

President Obama has consistently said that the US supports Israel's right to defend itself, but when does that right cross the line of defense into offense? Will they not stop until they send Gaza back to the middle ages as suggested by an Israeli Interior Minster?

  • I need to pick a WR and a flex?

I need to pick 1 WR to player and 1 player to play at Flex. These are my options:

    WR Ryan Broyles

    WR Chris Givens

    RB Daryl Richardson

    RB Taiwan Jones

    RB Chris Ivory

    WR Kendall Wright

I've pretty much eliminated playing Richardson because he's only the backup and doesn't have a good matchup against the 49ers. I'm leaning towards playing Kendall Wright because Locker is back and they have a good matchup. The other spot I'm not sure of.

Also, do I give Kyle Rudolph one more week with Harvin out or should I look elsewhere? The most likely candidate I would pick up would probably be Dustin Keller.

  • Can anyone recommend some Indie Folk Bands?

Recently my musical taste has taken a swing towards indie folkish bands. For example, I really like most of the stuff by Fleet Foxes (my favorite song is The Shrine/ An Argument). I like indie folk with more of a rock background though and I seem to find a lot of bands that are too country for me (like Mumford and Sons). Any suggestions?

  • Does anyone else agree with me on welfare?

Does anyone else think that the abuse of welfare that so many conservatives complain about can just be solved by increasing the minimum wage to a living wage? According to this source (http://www.statisticbrain.com/welfare-statistics/) I've used, people on welfare make more (welfare payments, food stamps, medicaid, etc.) than people with an $8/hour job in 40 states. The federal minimum wage is $7.25. Don't you think if you increased the minimum wage to a living wage that those needlessly on welfare would really see what they are missing? At the same time this preserves the welfare that some people genuinely need when times are rough.

  • Who Should I play at Flex?

I have William Powell, Daryl Richardson, and Chris Givens available for my flex spot. I currently have Powell in, but I'm debating putting Givens in.

  • Fantasy Football Auction Keeper League?

A group of friends and I have been doing fantasy football leagues for years, but this year we want to do a Auction Keeper league. The problem is that we can't decide the method to use in assigning values to the keepers for the subsequent seasons.

I prefer a method that takes into account player performance (via ESPN's predraft valuations) where say someone drafted a guy for $5 in the first year and his predraft value for next year is $15. Then his value we would use would be (5+15)/2= $10. And if that player's predraft value for the next year was $30 then we would use (5+15+30)/3= $17. And so on.

A friend prefers a method where a player's value would increase by a set increment every year. For example, his value would go up $5 after the first year, $10 after the second year, $20 after the third year, and so on.

Another friend prefers a method where a player is kept for the same price you originally paid in the 2nd year and then can either be kept at the same price the 3rd year and thrown back into the pool or you can offer the player a contract where the cost would be $5 for every year offered plus what ever was originally payed.

Does anyone with experience have any recommendations?

  • I need some fantasy baseball trade advice?

I just want to hear opinions on a trade. I currently have way too many pitchers on my roster, but I'd like to get something out of them instead of dropping any to make room on my roster. A team in my H2H 10 team league has the fewest wins in the league and his outfield is pretty bad. I was going to offer him Josh Reddick, Lance Lynn, and James McDonald for Alex Rodriguez. Sound like a good move? I would get rid of some excess pitching and I don't really need Reddick (I have Stanton, Cargo, Pence, Allen Craig, and soon Chris Young as my other outfielders).

If he accepts the trade I was then going to try to trade Michael Cuddyer and Jon Lester for a SP or two.

  • Does anyone else think Mike Zimmer would be a good fit for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

I mean the Buccaneers had one of the worst defenses in the league this year, and Zimmer has shown he can really help defenses (case in point the Cincinnati Bengals). The Bucs have some very young talent (especially at D-line with McCoy, Bowers and Clayborn), and with some good defensive picks in the draft or good signings Zimmer could very well work his magic. I know there is concern about Freeman and hiring a more offensive minded coach, but wouldn't a decent offensive coordinator (say Mike Martz) suffice just as well?

  • Which QB to start: Eli Manning or Matt Ryan?

This week I can either play Eli Manning against San Francisco or Matt Ryan against New Orleans? I'm leaning toward Eli Manning because of how good he has been recently, but Matt Ryan also plays better at home and is facing a Saints offense that will make Ryan throw it a lot to win.

  • Lights flickering on and off in 2001 Chrysler 300M?

I own a 2001 Chrysler 300M and randomly when driving at night the interior lights flicker. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all and sometimes it is almost like a strobe light. I have my headlights set to automatic. I also have a problem with the climate control display, which works sometimes and sometimes doesn't. It seems like some kind of electrical problem. Does anyone have any ideas for a fix?

  • May I make a recommendation?

If you are a fan of drama films and haven't seen PT Anderson's Magnolia (1999), do yourself a favor and see it. I know I probably sound dumb, but it really is a tremendous film with a great ensemble cast. I've only seen 7 or 8 Tom Cruise movies, but this is his best performance by far (and was also Oscar nominated). In fact if you like dramas, you should probably check out all of PT Anderson's films. Magnolia is my favorite, though with There Will Be Blood in a close second. I recommend this film because it seems like they are a lot of people who are looking for recommendations. I'm sure some will not like it, but others will love it. It is also quite lengthy (3 hours), but it is worth it. Here is the trailer:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxcegktcxSM

Also, if you are looking for recommendations, you should join this film site: http://www.criticker.com/ . It is a great site to rate and keep track of the films you've seen, but it also makes recommendations and guesses what you will score a film based on how you have ranked other films and how other members with similar tastes score the film. It might sound like it wouldn't work good, but it is actually quite accurate.

  • What are your thoughts for the pistons future?

I'm a big pistons fan and it is disheartening to see them lose again in the conference finals. I know something drastic will be coming because dumars is a great GM. I think dumars has to make some kind of trade to get a scorer in the frountcourt. If i had it my way the lineup next year would look something like this:

C- Someone accquired via trade(idk who but it would be nice to get someone like howard)

PF-Jason Maxiell(I think he brings a lot of energy and youth and has proved himself both offensively and defensively this year)

SF-Trade(They desparately need a scorer here hell i'd take vince carter)

SG-Hamilton(My favorite pistons player, is a great player)

PG-Billups(He is the captain at some points)

I'm not really sure where McDyess falls into any of this

    What do you think?

  • Why does everyone seem to think the pistons suck?

They've been to the conference finals 6 years in a row with 2 finals appearances and a title. That seems pretty good to me, but i only wish that they would have made it to the finals more(but thats kind of hard when you face the cavs last year and the refs make sure lebron does great and when you face the c elts this year and the refs make bogus calls to give boston huge advantages at the line). It pisses me off that people think the pistons suck, look at boston they've had one good year so far and already people think their the greatest team, although they went to 7 against atlanta and cleveland, and won because of the officiating against the pistons. The pistons do need to make drastic changes because they are too inconsistent, but to say that they suck is a huge overstatement. Six years in the conference finals is not a fluke, i bet boston will not accomplish that. Go Pistons!!!!!!!!!!!
