  • is it my oil pump or oil pump sensor?

I drive a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. I changed the oil about a 45-60 days ago, and yesterday the Oil light came on while I was driving, and the car turned off. There weren't any knocks that I noticed. It started back up, I drove back home (2 miles) without the light coming back on. This also happened once before while I was pulling into my parking spot at home. Oil level is good.

Is there any way to tell if it's my Oil sensor vs the actual Oil pump? Are there any other things that could be causing this? Thanks!

  • Is God Dead? (Friedrich Nietzsche)?

as i understand it, Nietzsche said "God is dead" meaning, we don't need God, mainly the bible, for a moral guideline, and the need to create our own guideline. he uses this in two books in the form of the old/madman who goes to the town square and proclaims this.

was Nietzsche specifically aiming this statement in his books towards atheists/nontheists specifically or, was he trying to get at the pubilic in general? with the former, it seems redundant to me. with the latter, it just doesn't make sense because where i live today, god and his morals are very much alive. In the stories, it sounds like his character is proclaiming it to a large group of people, which would be mixed with theists and nontheists, so i think this is why i'm confused.

  • What about this for a theory?

for atheists and theists alike. atheists, humor me in believing in God and heaven and hell.

we can all agree that, there are a ton of religions in this world, and most of the believers of those faiths are believers simply because that is what they are taught. they don't really think about it.

So what do you think has more value? someone who happened to be born in the right place, at the right time, who just believed whatever the actual "true" religion is. Or is it someone who did the "soul searching" and came to their own beliefs, or non-belief.

I think God, judging all of mankind would rather let the people who used their own common sense to find what they truly believed and lived a "virtuous" life nevertheless than people who blindly follow whatever they are told to. Then again, is God more of the type of being that just wants submission and doesn't care how he gets it? would either of these Gods be better than the other for any particular reason?

there's three questions in there. address all three with a logically sound opinion, you get best answer.

  • Is God actually the "bad guy", and Satan the "good guy"?

before i get into this, i just want to say i'm not trying to directly offend, but what i'm going to say is blasphemous and will might offend. that being said...

So out of all of the things that I've read in the bible, God seems like a jerk. he sponsors wars, commands people to do terrible things, demands absolute loyalty, and punishes people for eternity for being human. he contradicts himself more times than i care to count. If God was an actual person, who would he resemble? i'm thinking Stalin, but this is only half of it.

Satan. He fights against God, gets sent to his own place where he rules. All of the things that are called sins, like sex, or eating a lot, basically anything a person can desire, he's for (god is against). when i was a kid, if i wanted something super bad, my mother would get it for me. now that i'm an adult if i want something badly i work for it, but my mother still thinks i should have what i want. she loves me.

the question: could it be possible that the God of the bible/torah/koran is really the "bad guy" who won the war in heaven (winners write the history books) and Satan is the good guy? Hitler was a jerk, but he had a ton of followers. doesn't make sense, but it happens.

side note: God killed between 3 and 33 million people in the bible. Satan killed 10, with God's permission.

  • the big bang and what is "outside" our universe?

so, in the "beginning" the universe was infinitely dense and hot, then underwent the rapid expansion which gave way to the universe as we know it today (from what I understand). Also, I've heard that there was literally, nothing before the rapid expansion. Scientists say that because of the laws of physics, there is room for "something to come from nothing".

so my question is, if you picture the universe as infinitely hot and dense, a little speck that holds everything in the universe as we know it, whats outside that speck? likewise, if we could go to the edge of the universe today, where it has expanded to, and look out past it, what would be there? I think there must have been something before the universe, even just some kind of quantum fabric that allowed the universe to have a place to sit before it expanded, even if its just "empty space" there's got to be some framework underneath it all right?

  • is Ron Paul trying to take apart the country?

I like Ron Paul I think, but I have a question. Based on his Libertarian values, he'd give the states a lot of power, compared to what they have now. To me, that means, we'd have 50 states with 50 sets of different laws. Say in, Alabama, people decide that they won't want to serve "coloreds" anymore? Or perhaps, Muslims, or Catholics, or Jews, Or whites, or the Irish, or Patriots fans, or Homosexuals, etc.

My point is, won't giving the states so much individual power reduce the people of the states to...their prejudices? The same ones that federal law defends the people against? i'm speaking of discrimination.

I'm sure as president, he wouldn't just tear away all sorts of things like the Civil Rights act, but, are those his values?

  • when it comes to "god" and "satan" what do you think?

So god demands praise and worship and imposes rules on mankind. if we don't obey these rules we go to hell for eternity. when you read the bible, god is responsible for millions of deaths. then he sends himself to "die for our sins", which he just could have forgiven in the first place (since he's all-powerful). i think this is to guilt people into worshiping him instead of just ruling with an iron fist.

satan on the other hand is responsible for around 10 deaths (sanctioned by god as far as i know), and doesn't impose any of the things God does. on the contrary, he wants mankind to indulge itself. also, we don't hear "his side" of the story.

    so a couple of questions:

    1) if satan is a "trickster", wouldn't it make sense for him to trick mankind into worshiping him as god? wouldn't all of the people who are easily swayed believe in him?

    2) if God is "all good", would he punish his children the way that he proposes in the bible? would you punish your children this way? is this a scare tactic to make people believe?

    3) does it make sense for an all loving creator to do something good for his children (ie: die for our sins) and then expect something in return? would you do the same for your children?

    4) is it plausible that Satan as most people think of him, is really God? does it make more sense for Satan (as God) to want his children to truly be free and enjoy their lives (like eating pork, and having sex with the lights on if they want). Do some rules that God (of the bible) seem petty and trivial if he is an all wise all knowing creator? wouldn't an "evil" entity have more of these qualities?

    5) do you think an all knowing/all powerful being values people that believe what they are told or raised to believe (whether it is correct or not) or people who thought about it and believe what they think makes most sense (whether it is correct or not). has god made the universe as a test for each individual to pass/fail, or has god made the universe as a place for mankind to explore and live in, without expectations? if it is a test, why are there so many different religions all claiming to be correct? if it isn't a test, does it matter who believes in what?

any points of view on any of these many questions would be appreciated.

  • why did jesus have to die?

i went to church today, and got kind of irritated.

i'm under the impression that God wants us to honor/praise/worship him, and to believe that he sent his son, free of sin, to die for our sins. at church they said that was Gods gift to us, and we only have to accept it. and if we don't accept the gift, we go to hell. also, after jesus died he spent three days in hell, and then went to heaven.

first off, i don't really understand where the sacrifice came in. i mean, we all have to die sometime, and some of us have pretty horrible deaths so Jesus's actual death doesn't seem like a real sacrifice. then i figure he only spent three days in hell, then he went to hang out with god in heaven. why can't we spend "3 days in hell" or something like that, then go to heaven? and is that a real sacrifice? if god appeared in front of me and said "if you spend ETERNITY in hell, you'll save every soul that ever will be born and ever has been born" i'd do it, and wouldn't even be worried about getting any credit for it.

even disregarding those first questions, we're supposed to love jesus for doing this thing for us, and if we don't love him, we go to hell. and he sacrificed himself for us because he supposedly loves us. i don't know about anyone else, but i don't do good things for people i care about with the expectation for something in return, so even if we don't love him back, he still loves us and "died for our sins" right? wouldn't we still go to heaven even if we didn't believe?

lastly, disregarding all of the above, if when i die, if i decide after my bodily death that i want to worship and love jesus because i find out he did in fact die for my sins, would i be saved then? i don't understand why "faith" is so important. not to sound like a jerk, but the only sense i see in making faith so important is because that's all the evidence there really is. "the word" which leads me to so many other religions that have the same evidence. aka "faith"

i just don't understand how any of this makes sense.

  • black hole radiation?

Ok i'm under the assumption that black holes emit radiation. how does radiation escape from the gravity of a black hole, if "nothing" can escape past the event horizon? would that mean its moving away from the black hole faster than the speed of light? i don't understand. can anyone help me out?

  • what do you think happened?

at 1135 or something i was going to smoke

but i got up and did some stuff inbetween the computer and the door

i called my friend and said "hey its 1147, i'm going out side for a second but i'll call you back at 12 on the dot if you get this message before then."

i walked out side and started smoking

and i was looking at the stars and at the big dipper in comparison to cassiopeia to find the north star, and think about how i was going to put this butt out and bugs and stuff.

    i mean, all this stuff.

so i'm like "oh man i bet its close to twelve!" so i go in and look at the clock.

    "1148"

i had been outside for less than 1 single minute.

    what happened?

  • why don't believers do this?

So heaven is the ultimate goal. Do everything you have to and believe in all the stuff that you have to, so God can show you his glory allll the time. Of course, suicide is a sin in the Abrahamic religions, so its not like you can just zip right up there...or can you?

The question is, why don't believers just engage in high risk activity, so if they die while say....driving drunk with no seat belt, or....having a child pack their parachute, they get to go hang out with God. its like a loophole. I mean...if you truly believe, why not? (i guess "why not" is the real question)

not trolling. i want some serious answers.

you know the double standard about a guy hooking up with a lot of girls and not being considered a slut, but if a girl hooks up with a couple of guys she's a "slut"? if you have a key that unlocks all doors, its the master key. if you have a lock that gets unlocked by any 'ol key, its just a shitty lock. agree or disagree?
