  • Can I see the Udvar-Hazy Center with a 5 hr 47 Minute Layover in Dulles Washington, DC?

So I have a layover for 5 hours 47 minutes in DC. I always wanted to see the Udvar-Hazy Center in DC. I have a connecting flight to Frankfurt after. Those who live in the Area would 2 hours be enough time to see the museum? Also looking at the transit system, seems it changed in the past few months?

    Thanks!

  • Is this Cheap 2001 Civic a good buy for a friend?

My friend has had a 2001 Civic in storage for about 14 months now he has been waiting to sell to someone within friends/family. It has ~136,000 miles. I have another friend looking for a cheap car. The owner is willing to sell it for $750.

I know the little Civic of this generation....especially the 2001 model is NOTORIOUS for throwing out transmissions. The buyer will prb not drive it too far, maybe 2 hr trip every now and then. The buyer also knows very little about cars or how they operate/how to fix (down to not knowing how to check oil level)

The car will need new struts in the front and brakes. I'm mechanically inclined to fix these things, and inspect everything before starting it for the 1st time in 14 months, but I just want to hear opinions on if this would be a good option for my friend. normally I'd give a loud no to this car, but $750 + $300 ishhh to fix it seems like a good deal.

Let me know your thoughts!...on a side note for my own curiosity, anyone know why the transmission dies wholesale in these cars? Torque converter failure, clutch packs like the Honda 5-speed?

    Thanks!

  • Should I use 10w-30 or Sae 30 for my Craftsman Riding Mower? Briggs and Straton 500cc?

I have the 42" Craftsman Riding tractor (Gray one) 2011 model with the Briggs and Stratton 500cc engine....Not the new 420cc engine not made by B&S. My question is should I be using 10w-30 or Sae 30 in the engine? I've been using Mobil super 10w-30, but after a little reading some are saying use SAE 30. Should I switch over to SAE 30 from 10W-30?

Also any brand I should be using? (i.e. Mobil, Valvoline, Castrol etc.)

I change the spark plug, oil, and air filter every season. There is no oil filter.

    Thanks!

  • Is it weird to not take advantage of a drunk girl at the bar?

So I was at the bar with a friend and the girl next to me who had a few too many drinks, not obnoxious drunk, but still obvious hit on me and It's not my style to take advantage of drunk ladies. I just had a conversation with her at the bar without blowing her off, which worked until she was ready to leave and hinted she wouldn't mind if "I went home with her." (remember she is still pretty drunk) but I kind of changed the subject and she went to the bathroom came back saying she's leaving, gave a hug and left. Some people at the bar said I missed a chance, shaking their heads and stuff. Do you think its weird I didn't want to take advantage of that? If it helps we were both between the ages of 22-24. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

  • Left wheel harder to spin, and humming sound from Camry?

So I hear a humming sound from the left front side in my 2004 Camry. It starts about 30mph, and is the loudest around 50-60mph. It's not as loud at 80mph (maybe because the engine is covering the noise?)

Anyways, my point is the noise increases with speed. Not by much though. This is a pretty quiet hum noise. When I brake hard the car doesn't pull to the right or left. All of these sounds started when I changed both wheel bearings, and the pads and rotors in the front.

Again, this sound only started when those items were replaced. I jacked the car off the ground, and when I put the car in neutral, the left wheel seemed harder to spin than the right wheel.

So any ideas? Bad wheel bearings installed? Rotors? Calipers? Any input is much appreciated!

  • What could make that low pitched Hum in my 2004 Camry?

So I have a 2004 Toyota Camry LE. when the windows are rolled up, around 30mph you can hear a humming noise (more low pitched noise) somewhat loud, but not super loud. The sound seems to get louder, but stabilizes at around 60mph.

Now the fun part. When I let off the gas and let it coast, especially at highway speeds, the Humming is significantly amplified. Re-accelerating doesn't eliminate the problem. What could this be?

  • Car vibrates after drums were replaced?

Hey everyone, I have a 2004 Camry LE 4cyl w/ 100K miles. I just replaced the pads, rotors, and shoes and resurfaced the drum. The brakes were pretty good minus a humming/whirring sound right before the car came to a complete stop. I took it back, and the replaced the actual drums with new ones (these drums apparently are balanced as well) Well now the car has a slight shake when i vibrate slowley. Braking harder doesnt have much of a shake. I don't beileve it is the rotors because they didn't shake before.

FYI the brake pedal itself shakes a little if that helps.

    Thanks everyone!

  • Humming Noise 2004 Camry LE?

I had the both the front wheel bearings, rotors, and pads replaced in the front, also the shows in the back were changed, and the drum was resurfaced.

    Now for the bad part.

When I am going above 20mph there is a slight humming noise, kind of like a whirring sound that slightly gets louder as your speed increases, but not by much. Also when I am braking, right before the car stops (5mph) there is a also a humming sound/whirring noise.

    What exactly is causing this???

The brakes don't vibrate, and the car is not being thrown to the left or right. The pedal feels a little softer than before the brake job if that matters. If anyone has any help, please let me know!!!

  • Does Turning off Motion flow on Sony tv's reduce the tv to 60hz?

So I think is dumb how movies look like when the motionflow is turned on select Sony Televisions. It looks 100X better if motionflow is turned off. What I want to know is if motionflow is turned off, does that mean the tv is then reduced to 60hz?
