I recently got a "contingency fee agreement" in the mail from a lawyer who is filing a class action lawsuit against a website that I have considered taking part in. While the agreement clearly states that there will be no attorney's fees without recovery, it says the following about "Costs": Client understands that there will be costs incurred in addition to attorney's fees. Costs will be advanced by counsel." It then goes on to run down a list of what the costs may be related to, everything from expert witness fees to copying costs.

Would I be responsible for these costs if we lose the case? I'm not sure what this means.

Our 9 month old cat has a bad habit of jumping onto the kitchen counter. Recently, when I wasn't home and my girlfriend was preparing dinner, he had his whiskers burnt by the heat of the gas stovetop. My girlfriend wants to either get rid of him or leave him in the basement all the time. This cat is also afraid of her since she has disclipined him in the past. I really don't want to give him up or leave him in the basement. We have another cats and a ferret that he plays with and he his attached to me. Any suggestions? I suggested putting him in another room while we're cooking or eating, but my girlfriend said that the cat runs from her and that she cannot catch him.

My girlfriend is pushing for me to get a house so her and I can live together. I was told the interest rate would be 3.75%. Is this doable, or should I go for something cheaper? Or should I do it at all? My g/f keeps telling me that interest rates are at an all-time low. This is w/o factoring in utilities, existing debt, and other expenses.

this concerns concert tickets and severe weather.

a couple of months ago i ordered tickets for me and my g/f for a small club gig that went on the other night. unfortunately, after almost wrecking our car two times, we had no choice but to turn back due to a snowstorm that came through our area. the show did go on as we found out later and the snowstorm came earlier and was more severe than predicted. we ended up having to stay at a hotel since it was so bad out that we couldnt even get home. is it possible for me to get my money back? the total for the 2 tix was about 80 bucks. if so, do i contact the ticketseller, the venue? please help.

How much are they going for?

I pose this question purely out of curiousity.

I've had people tell me that if I had a cool million, I could leave it in a savings account and live off of the interest alone.

If I did this, how much interest would I get after taxes?

And if so, how often would I be paid interest? Once a month? Quarterly?

How would this work if it is possible?

I've been working somewhere for 5 years. The company is discriminatory in that it doesn't hire blacks, yet will hire white guys regardless of their records, drug tests, references, background checks, etc. The racism is very open as well. Racial slurs can be heard left and right all day. I have complained to management about the racial climate a number of times. Not much has been done, and my anti-racism as well as my left-leaning politics have made me a target for harassment.

I'd like to know who I should contact. Our local NAACP chapter is backlogged. This company is fairly big and has satellites throughout the tri-state area. I want to quit, but can't find anything right now. They make it hard to leave because of the pay and benefits. In fact, people have been trying to get me fired over the years (provoking me to fight them, planting stuff on me, etc.).

Race isn't the only problem. The place is also unsafe to work at for various reasons.

I really don't think I can afford a lawyer. But it's not just about me. This place I feel is a blight on our city because of their hiring practices and because of their culture.

Can anyone help?

i googled my name tonight and found a message board on which people were trashing me and badmouthing me. i guess its slander. idk. is there a way to deal with this? who can i contact? do i report them to their isp. this person started a whole message board where him and his friends trash ppl.

I am an adult btw and am sort of disguising my style of writing so they can't figure out who I am. the admin of the site appears to be one of the harassers. the site is full of racism and misogyny also. i tried it in another section and people misunderstood my age so im trying it here.

ok, i tried to add this person we'll call "jim." yesterday i was able to see his pic and his friends. i had send him a friend request a month ago. i kept checking his profile and it kept saying "friend requested." i sent him one last email and gave up. now i check today and his pic is gone and there are no friends listed. it still says "friend requested." was i blocked or did this person deactivate their account?

I'm just wondering if it's like myspace where you know if your email was read. And how do you know if a friend request was turned down?
