  • Topic for 3-5 minute teaching audition?

In preparation for a job interview, I have to do a 3-5 minute teaching tutorial on a non academic topic. It doesn't have to be hands on (although many choose this), but it needs to engage the audience. It needs to be appropriate for high school students.

I wanted to do CPR for cats/dogs, but there is no way to do that in 3-5 minutes. Any ideas would be appreciated!

  • Searching for an old solid perfume...?

I could swear it was called Lily of the Valley and it was in a rectangular light turquoise plastic case, almost like a compact. It was one of my (long deceased) mother's favorites. I recall it from my childhood.

There are a lot of lily of the valley scented perfumes & I don't have the time and money to sniff them all, especially since many are only available on the internet nowadays. I know it's a long shot but I wondered if anyone might know.

It would have been available at least as far back as the late 70's, but probably older. My Mom died when I was a young girl but I still remember the scent and swear I could identify it by memory almost 25 yrs later.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

  • How to fix "hot roots" from home coloring?

I dyed my hair back to its natural color, a dark bronzed brown (a hint of golden red in a dark brown). It looks lovely, except for the center of my head, where applied the dye first. I left it on about 5 min too long and that part is more of an auburn. It is too light, too red.

I know that I should go to a professional but I simply do not have the money. I was wondering if I could fix this at home.

Could I re-dye it, using less developer (but how much), or could I try using an ash brown on those parts and pulling some through parts kind of like low lights, or should I use semi-permanent color?

Anyone with experience in coloring, esp professionals, please weigh in!

  • Car clock/radio resets when starting engine - what's going on?

2000 car clock/radio resets when I start my car. It's as though the battery has died and it resets to 12:00. It has happened twice today. The car also doesn't start on the first try, but promptly turns over on the second attempt. Is it my battery going? Something else? Please advise. Thanks!

  • Is a chlorine dioxide dental treatment safe for cats with early renal disease?

My beloved kitty is almost 12 yrs old and has declining renal function. She also has some dental problems. She is scheduled to undergo a dental cleaning and exam, but I came across some products that advertised that they would help make the cleaning easier and would help prevent against tartar/plaque build up afterwards. While I am skeptical of how much good they will really do, my main concern is that it might be harmful to her kidneys. I couldn't really find much evidence either way. Anyone with any knowledge on the subject? Thanks in advance

  • would like to substitute minced dried onion for chives?

I know that it is a poor substitute, but I am on a budget and I don't to buy green onions or chives for a recipe that asks for 2 Tablespoons chives, since I don't use them much in cooking. I have minced dried onion.

Recognizing it is a poor substitute, anyone know how much dried onion would be about 2 Tablespoons chives?

  • power steering fluid question?

Have a 2000 car: power steering fluid is getting dark. Intermittently been having problems with turning. Mechanic said that flushing the system would help, but I'm concerned that I will need a new pump irregardless.

So, is it worth it getting the system flushed?

  • Lunesta on drug screen?

I know Ambien and Sonata can be tested for on drug screens (specific test required). If you suspect a patient is abusing (and obtaining) multiple scripts for Lunesta, is there a test out yet for Lunesta? I know a couple of years ago there was not, but wondering if the times have changed?

No intention of ratting anybody out; I just don't want to write for scripts patient is getting elsewhere:) It is a schedule IV controlled substance and in FL the DEA has been very zealous.

  • For doctors/healthcare professionals?

I'm a physician but know little about urology/proctology.

A friend of mine has an appt with his dr, but I wanted to see what I could find out.

He has an ulcer that bleeds from time to time. Sometimes there is dark blood in his stool.

He also sometimes has trouble starting to urinate. Sometimes there is blood in his urine.

This has been going on for a couple of yrs, but getting worse.

Anyway these could be related? I get that the bleeding ulcer would cause blood in the stool, but both these problems started at the same time. Also, he is only 30yrs old. No family history of prostate or GI cancers. No STDs or h/o UTIs. Otherwise in good health.
